The contrast is decent, as is the uniformity. This TV can't play 24 fps movies without judder, though. If you love watching Blu-rays, DVDs, streaming movies, or other 24 fps movies, you should go with a different TV.

This TV does not display 24p properly, even though it accepts it as an input. You can see judder when watching movies. It is a small and consistent judder though (called 3:2 pulldown), so not necessarily a deal breaker for most people.

This TV can get loud, and the bass is okay. The accuracy of the sound isn't particularly good, though, and the sound gets a bit too distorted at louder volumes. There's not too much distortion at low volumes, though.

Refresh Rate

Do not look at the 120 Motion Rate number. The Samsung JU6500 is a 60Hz TV, not 120Hz. This year, Samsung’s Motion Rate number for 4k TVs equals twice the native refresh rate of the panel.

It does have the motion interpolation feature, but it only interpolates up to 60Hz. Therefore, the soap opera effect can only be added on content with lower frame rates (24hz and 30Hz), and it will enhance them to 60hz, not 120hz.

LED Clear Motion

Like most Samsung TVs, it does have a backlight strobing mode (via 'Auto Motion Plus' set to 'Custom, and 'LED Motion Mode' enabled). This is grayed-out in game mode though, so you cannot benefit from it with a low input lag.

Differences between sizes

We tested the 55" (UN55JU6500; TH01). We expect other sizes will have a picture quality in the same ballpark (with the exception of more uniformity issues on bigger sizes). If you got one with a different picture quality than ours, let us know and we will update our review.

Page 145 of the Samsung manual says the JU6500 supports 24p. Are you sure your findings are correct?
It says that it supports the input, but that really just means that it can display a 24 hz signal. Our test is for whether the TV can display a 24 hz signal without juddering, and we weren't able to find a way to make this TV do so.

Is the Samsung JU7100 worth the upgrade vs the JU6500?
It depends on the price difference, and how you value that difference of course. But yes, the upgrade to the JU7100 is pretty significant:
  • Less motion blur
  • No judder for movies (24p support)
  • Glossy finish (less ambient light reflected, but at the cost of more defined reflections with sometimes rainbows around them)
  • Better remote
  • 120Hz motion interpolation
  • 3D

Therefore, get the JU7100, unless the price difference is too big for your budget or you have lights directly facing the TV.

Hello. I am hoping to get definite confirmation. Does the JU6500 indeed support 4K @ 60hz @4:4:4? I see above that it says no, then it says to name the input a certain name. Can anyone confirm please, as of July 1st, 2015, that this model does indeed support this display? Thank you in advance.
Yes, we just tried it again and it does support 4k @ 60Hz @ 4:4:4, when PC mode is selected and UHD Color.

Go to the 'Source' menu and highlight the input you wish to change. Press the down arrow and then choose 'Edit Device Type,' and then 'PC.'

Is it worth the money?
It depends. If you only watch sports or regular TV, or play video games, this TV is a decent choice. If you watch movies, though, this TV isn't great. It has judder when playing 24 fps content, so Blu-rays, DVDs, and streaming movies won't look great. You would be better off paying more and getting the JU7100, or else saving money and getting the 1080p Samsung J6300.

Does 60hz interpolation have less input lag than 120hz interpolation because fewer frames are added?
No. Interpolation to different frame rates doesn't equal to different input lag increases. Samsung adds a fixed input lag outside game mode (around 115ms), to make sure the TV has time to do whatever processing is enabled, even if it isn't necessary.

Which one is the better one between the HU8550 and the JU6500 if they are the same price? I don't care about 3D. I just want a good picture quality.
The HU8550, because it has less blur, includes a 24p playback option, has a smart remote, and has a glossy screen (which cuts down on reflected ambient light).

Just to report that the Samsung UN50JU6500 does 4K UHD 3180x2160P 60hz chroma 4:4:4 fine for me, attached to a GTX 960 graphics card. 50" Windows desktop and apps, including fine black text on white background without any color fringing.
The only catch was that I had to replace a costlier HDMI speed cable purchased at local electronics box store with a cheaper house brand HDMI high-speed cable from "the biggest river in the world", to get it to work reliably.
The costlier cable apparently had a problem with HDMI handshake. Once it got through that via multiple power cycling or PC reboots, the picture looked and worked fine. With the cheaper cable it works fine - first time, every time; no muss, no fuss. Thanks for the very useful site.

I'm a designer looking at the JU6500 as a monitor (4:4:4 @ 4K 60hz). The JU6500 is $500 less than the JU7100. Is 24p and 3D really worth the extra money?
If you don't plan on watching movies (Blu-ray, DVD, streaming) or playing 3D content, then those features don't matter, and you might as well get the JU6500.

I had chatted today on Samsung.com and they are telling me that all the 2015 models have 120 hz panels. Below is the conversation. Is it true that they have 120HZ panels?

For 2015, only Samsung's 1080p TVs have a motion rate that matches the refresh rate. For example, the Samsung J6300 has a motion rate of 120, and its real refresh rate is 120 hz.
For Samsung's UHD and SUHD TVs, the motion rate is equal to double the real refresh rate. The Samsung JU6500 has a motion rate of 120, but its real refresh rate is 60 hz. This was confirmed when it was unable to interpolate 60 hz video, and then also when it had judder when playing 24 fps videos (typical for a 60 hz panel).

Lot of people are complaining about problems with connecting to internet with the JU6500. Any say on that?
We had some issues with connecting multiple Samsung TVs - including the JU6500 - to the internet at the same time. Everything works fine as long as the JU6500 is the only Samsung TV on the wireless network. We have also had no issues with setting up wired connections.

I've been looking at the 40" JU6500 and the JU7100. My question is, will there be any significant difference between the two when using them as a computer monitor? I'm a huge gamer and plan on running my games in 4k with the new computer I plan to build.
Not a huge difference. The JU6500 has a bit more blur, but not enough that it will ruin your gaming experience. They both have very low input lag and similar contrast and uniformity, so they're about equally good for your needs.
Just remember that the JU6500 has judder when playing 24 fps content, so if ever you want to watch movies, they won't look as good as they would on the JU7100.

Great site and great review, however, I think you got really lucky with your UN55JU6500, that, or it was cherry picked. The one I got is a 55" flashlight. Full of clouds and spotlights on bottom / top. My version is EH02 / Made in Mexico. Can you please tell me your version / where it was made? I'm going to keep making "open box specials" until I find one that doesn't do this. My 40" JU6500 inch version is perfect, rivaling OLED/Plasma blacks, but it looks like Samsung has a design flaw when they scale to 55"+. That, and/or the people who are putting it together hate it and just throw everything together because of the size/weight. Thanks!
Ours is TH01 also made in Mexico and the black uniformity is great. We buy all our TVs from the shelves so none has been cherry picked. It seems like you didn't got lucky with the panel you got. Exchange it for another one if you can. Good luck!

How can you tell from the details page of a TV, or the box, if it supports 24p? I'm specifically talking about Best buy's Black Friday model, the "Samsung UN60JU6390FXZA". Is this a stripped down version of the 6500, and so will definitely not support 24p? Do you plan to review this, or any other Black Friday hot items before Black Friday, if you can? Thanks!
Unfortunately, there is no way to tell from the listing or the box.
We won't be reviewing retailer exclusives, we don't plan on reviewing the JU6390. We do expect it is similar to the JU6500, and so would not support 24p.

I heard that many 2015 Samsung TVs have had a firmware update to support HDR, does that include the JU6500? When I purchased this TV I didn't consider this sort of thing and now I'm thinking about getting an Xbox One S but want to be sure it will be worth it.
There are reports of an update but we can't confirm it for the JU6500. Even if it does happen though, the JU6500 will not receive any benefit. It can't display a wider range of colors and can't get very bright. There is no advantage of HDR content on this TV.

I watch TV 20 hours a day. I mostly watch standard channels a few cable channels. I watch a lot of ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and CNN. I rarely watch DVDs, and no gaming. I watch Netflix once in a blue moon. I read all your stuff and don't know what half of it means. Would the JU6500 be a good 4K TV for me to invest in, or what would you recommend for a person like me?

While the J6500 could be mislabeled as 120, assertion that the Motion Rate is doubled for other models is not correct. J5500 has an advertised Motion Rate of 60, surely you wouldn't suggest it is 30Hz. Samsung actually sent a notice to Best Buy Samsung Experience employees about the change in terminology. Clear Motion Rate was inflated for the H models, but the term was changed to simply "Motion Rate" to reflect that the new J 2015 models are numbered according to their actual refresh rate.
Motion Rate is doubled for 4k TVs. For 1080p TVs, it is the real refresh rate.

My TV needs will be mostly movies, a bit of computing, and some video games. I was considering the JU6500 but the fact that it's only a 60 Hz TV is a bit of a turnoff (yes, even though I know refresh rate doesn't mean that much in the grand scheme of things). The JU7100 is too much and I'm not a fan of the Mini-Connect box. Would you recommend getting the HU8550 even though it's last year's TV?
The JU6500's 60 hz refresh rate is a problem in this instance, because it has judder when displaying 24 fps content (Blu-rays, DVDs, streaming movies). The HU8550 is pretty much the same as the JU7100, so if it's priced lower, it's a better choice than the JU6500.

Hello. You say the JU7100 has less motion blur than the JU6500. I have had both sets, and when playing PC games in PC mode I get a small ghost effect on black objects. It smears much less on the JU6500, and on the JU7100 it's bad. Is this motion blur or overshoot? By the way, this is a great site. Thank you.
The JU7100 has a much longer response time for some transitions from black to a lighter color, so it will have more blur in some cases. When you take into account all transitions, though, the JU7100 has less blur overall.

We don't have plan to review this one for now but you can use the JU6500 settings here as long as you don't copy the 2-point and 10-point white balance settings.

Hi there, i recently bought this model out of box for a really great price! It's my first 4k tv and I'm using it as a monitor for my pc. The picture looks great however it's putting a noticeable strain on my eyes. I've tried messing with settings like lowering the backlight, brightness and playing it in movie mode and that has helped but it's still bothering me during and after playing. I don't wear glasses and have never had this problem before with any 1080p panels. The games look great but I'm having trouble enjoying the experience of 4k. Do you have any suggestions about configuration or anything in general? Thanks!
Try the 'Warm 2' color temperature in combination with the 'Movie' picture mode and see if that helps further more. The backlight of Samsung TVs constantly flashes and that may be part of the problem. It kind of goes against the lower brightness recommendation but try setting the backlight to 100%. This way it the backlight will stop flashing and it may in the long run. If it does but you can't stand the higher brightness, then maybe you would be better with a Sony TV like the x810c. Sony TVs doesn't flash at any brightness level.

How does the JU6500 compare with the HU8550?
Get the HU8550. The JU6500 has more blur, can only interpolate up to 60 fps (vs 120), and doesn't have 24p playback capability or a smart remote.

I see that both JU6500 and JU7100 both got a 9.0 for upscaling. Are they the same, or is the JU7100 noticeably better? The 'Pros' for the JU7100 specifically mention this aspect.
They're equally good at upscaling. We just didn't mention it in the JU6500's 'Pros' section.

I'm looking for a TV mainly for Netflix/Amazon and movie watching, with some sports added in. I'd prefer a 120hz TV, but I"m open. Right now I'm leaning towards the 48J6300AFXZA or the 50JU6500FXZA. What are your thoughts? This TV will be mounted in a dimly lit bedroom. Thanks.
The JU6500 has judder when playing movies, so it's not good for your uses. Get the Samsung UN48J6300. It doesn't have that problem, and it also has very good contrast, uniformity, and motion handling, so your movies will look great.

When I read about the judder on 24p on this JU6500 there is always the (Blu-rays, DVDs, streaming films) note. Does this mean that if I connect this TV to my computer at 60hz I will not suffer the judder if the movie is player from my computer?
No, the judder will still be there. We add that note to give people an idea of some of the sources with which you'll see judder, but 24 fps video files are no different.

Hello. I am mainly a PC power user and use my PC for everything. I'm looking for a 4k TV for use with my PC. I'll be doing some gaming for sure, but I also see the 4k as valuable for general desktop use. 4k chroma 4:4:4 at 60hz then seems to be a must.
I really don't want to spend over $1,000 on a display, so I'm trying to find the best value for my needs. The JU6500 seems to be a great TV for me, but its glaring flaw is that it has "judder" when displaying 24 fps content.
I do watch the occasional movie, but to be honest, I've watched plenty of 24fps content on my PC before with a 60hz monitor. Does this mean every time I've watched a movie under these conditions before, I've been experiencing the judder effect all along?
If so, I really can't say I've noticed it, and it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. I just have seen you state that it's very noticeable many times over and want to know what to expect. Thanks for a very informative website!
All 60 hz PC monitors have judder in 24p movies, so if you haven't noticed judder before, you shouldn't have any issues with the JU6500.

I have a UN65JU6400/640D, it only has three HDMI inputs.
1) Which calibration settings should I follow?
2) I am also getting a Panasonic DMP-BDT330 that upconverts to 4K. Does this mean I should connect the player to HDMI 1 only?
We haven't tested a JU6400 yet, so we don't have specific settings to offer. You could try the JU6500's if you want, as they're likely pretty similar.
It doesn't matter which HDMI input you use for the player.

If the price was about the same, between the 65JU6500 and the Vizio M65-C1, which would you recommend? I hardly ever watch movies, the set will be like 50/50 between TiVo and PC. I do watch Amazon/Netflix original series pretty often. The room it will be in has a ton of Hue lights and can go from bright to dark pretty easy via Harmony Home control, based on activity. There are some lights directly behind the TV.
People on AVSForum swear that the M series can do chroma 4:4:4, but I am leery after thinking the E-series could do it based on your review of the E60. I tried everything, including a new GTX 960 graphics card, and couldn't get 4:4:4 on the E65. Otherwise I thought the E65 was perfect.
The JU6500 has a significantly higher MSRP, but I can get it for about the same price as the M65. The extra USB ports/USB3, more HDMI/HDCP 2/2.2, less input lag, YouTube 4k, and better smart TV functions all have me leaning toward the Samsung.
I'd like the 7100, but I don't watch movies nearly enough to justify the extra $500. There isn't a lot of info on this set and I am not sure which would be better in my usage scenario. If I was happy with the Vizio E65 will I be happy with the JU6500 or the M65?

Our M-series TV has not been able to do 4k @ 60 hz @ 4:4:4, but the JU6500 can. It's a far better choice for a PC monitor, so we recommend taking it. You should be quite happy with it.

I recently purchased the Samsung UHD JU6500. So far I love it. However, When I customize the color settings and sound settings, once I turn the TV off and back on they go back to the factory default. What do I need to do to get my settings to save? Are there any other important things I need to know about this TV that you can tell me that I may want to know?
Your TV may be under the 'Store Demo' mode. On the remote, press the 'Menu' button -> 'Support' -> 'Use Mode' and select 'Home Use'. Beside of that, you can try using our calibrated settings and you will be all set.

Hi. On my Samsung UN50JU6500 I have the option to enable UHD color, which is great, but it will only allow that on HDMI 1, and all four are listed within the menu for this setting. Please advise if you can. Thanks.
It's the same situation with our 55" model, so that means only HDMI 1 can do chroma 4:4:4 @ 4k @ 60Hz.

Can you clarify whether any revisions have been made to UN40JU6500 model since you conducted the review? For example, the specs for this 40" model, the 650D by way of Costco, and the 7100 are all indicated as having the UHD Dimming according to Samsung.com. Am I missing something?
This is a 'hidden' feature on Samsung TVs, meaning it is not adjustable. It dims the frames when a mostly-dark image is present. This happens less with the 'Movie' and 'Game' modes, but is still present. It's not new, and it's not something we're especially fond of, since it can make the picture less accurate.
There haven't been any major additions to those TVs' capabilities since we reviewed them.

I believe the EH02 panel is a IPS panel as I have experienced both panels. The viewing angle on the EH02 panel is far better then the TH01. But the black uniformity on the EH02 is not as good as the TH01. I have some minor "flashlighting" along the left upper edge. I chose to keep the EH02, as I needed a unit with a wide viewing angle.

First: Thanks for a great and informative site!
My mission is/was to configure workstations for SW engineers. To that end, I learned that bigger isn’t actually better. We started off with a 55” Samsung JU6700. Frankly, you had to turn your head SO much that it was uncomfortable. Our second attempt was the 40” Samsung JU6500, and we love it. Same # of pixels, but in a more compact area.
We’re planning on putting two smaller HD screens to the side, because many seem to like having a dedicated screen for certain tasks (email/desktop/folders, etc.), and using the larger one for what they’re working on.
Finally, a question: I want to confirm everything is set, including the source, to 4:4:4, 60Hz, 3840x2160. Is there a way can I confirm in what mode the JU6500 is operating? A status display that I’m (likely) missing perhaps?
There is no display that will tell you if you have 4k @ 60 hz @ chroma 4:4:4, but you can check for yourself by using this image. Download the file and open it in paint, making sure it is open on the TV screen. The image will tell you whether you have chroma 4:4:4 or 4:2:2.
Don't forget to enable 'UHD color' for the input you want to put into 4:4:4.

After much reading and searching I came across your website. The information I gained here helped with my decision. So first, thanks for a great website and really great information. I got the un55ju6500 recently and so far it is great. I did use all of your suggested setup settings and they worked fine on my set. I haven't noticed any judder while streaming Netflix or watching movies. I got it on sale at Best Buy and I was really just looking for an entry level 4K TV and this one has been it so far. I have watched a few hockey games on the TV and it keeps up with the fast pace of hockey very smoothly. So far the only thing I haven't tried is my PS4. Anyone looking for a great entry level 4K TV, look no further than the ju6500 from Samsung.

Hi. I wanted to buy a TV for gaming first, then streaming. I returned the Sony X830C because I wasn't getting enough pop in with the detail in my games.
I want the contrast to be good because I want to see great detail. Lag is pretty important. The Sony X810C is a tad too big for my liking, so I was looking at the Samsung JU6500.
I'm kinda sensitive to motion blur, but if both TVs have very minimal blur, I can deal with it. I have max $1,100 to spend. What TV should I get to make images and detail pop in that price range?

You should get the Vizio D-series 4k. The picture is very good (better than the JU6500), and the input lag of the unit we reviewed was the lowest of any TV we have ever reviewed. It's also even less expensive than both the X810C and the JU6500, so it's a pretty great deal.

The JU6500 is a good TV, but it's not quite as good as the H7150. The H7150 has less motion blur, better contrast and color uniformity, and a better screen finish, but the differences aren't huge.

So this is just like the LB5800 as far as frame interpolation? They're probably going to start adding interpolation to more 60hz TVs in the future. I don't understand why they don't just make them 120hz.
Yes, it's the same idea. Keeping 60 hz panels around makes it easier to a) release less expensive TVs and b) make expensive 120 hz TVs look better by comparison, so you can probably expect to see 60 hz panels around for a while yet.

Yes, there is a pretty big difference between the looks of 60 hz and 120 hz interpolation. Compare the look of the 30 fps interpolation image from our 6500 review with that of the 7100 to get an idea of the difference. Both are based on the same 30 fps input.

They're pretty much the same, but the H6350 has a 24p playback option and 120 hz interpolation, whereas the JU6500 doesn't have 24p and can only interpolate up to 60 hz. If you don't care about 4k, or prefer those other features, get the H6350.

Would you get the 850c from Sony over this? Is a $400 price hike justified in the Sony?
The main difference is that the Sony has a 24p judder-free playback option, and can also interpolate to 120 hz. If those are things you want, get the Sony. If you don't watch Blu-rays, DVDs, or 24p movies from things like Netflix, and you don't care about interpolation, then you might as well stick with the JU6500.

The Samsung JU6500 lags behind the Vizio M-series in almost every single category and the Samsung has major issues like no native 24p support and no local dimming. Yet you scored the Samsung JU6500 much higher overall than the Vizio M-series. You couldn’t possibly recommend the JU6500 over the Vizio M-series since the Vizio is about 10% less expensive. So why did you rate the Samsung TVs higher than the Vizio M-series when all of your test data clearly indicates that the 2015 Vizio M-series is the superior TV? Your tests and test data are excellent but your conclusions demonstrate a clear bias against certain manufacturers.
It is because of the motion blur. The response time on our M 60" is really bad. We will actually post measurements soon of 12 gray to gray pixel transitions to illustrate this. On the dark to bright transitions, it overshoots for about 150ms, which is really high considering the rest of the response time is 10 ms. You can see it in our pictures of motion blur by looking at the trail on the left of our moving logo, it continues beyond the frame. The lack of 24p and local dimming is less bad than that motion blur for gaming and sports, which is why we recommend the JU6500 more. For movies though, the M is better than the JU6500.

I have the UN65JU6500, and when streaming 4k YouTube and Amazon videos, I sometimes get a thin line at the bottom of the screen, especially when it's streaming at 1440p. Any ideas?
We've had similar issues with lines appearing on our screens, or even the entire screen filling with a solid color. It seems to be a fairly common problem. Make sure you have installed the most recent updates. Apart from that, there's nothing to be done.

I bought the UN65JU6500 a few weeks ago and am very disappointed. I have the purple line at the bottom of Youtube and Netflix. The TV's OS has crashed a few times and forced me to restart the TV and restore to factory settings. The black levels are poor, especially compared the the plasma I 'upgraded' from. I'm considering returning it and going with the LG 65UF8500. I mostly watch movies and sports. Will I be happy with the LG?
No. The LG will have worse black levels than this TV, so you'll be getting worse picture quality if you switch. And unfortunately, LED TVs can't match plasma sets for blacks, so you'll need to compromise to a degree.
Given that you watch movies, you might want to exchange it for a Vizio M65-C1. It is able to play 24 fps content without judder (the JU6500 can't), and its picture quality is at least as good. The main downside is that it has more blur than ideal when displaying video games.
It also doesn't have that purple line issue, though it sometimes begins interpolating frames for no reason. That can be corrected by enabling 'Game Low Latency.'

Thanks for answering my last question. I just have one more concern between the 40" ju6500 and ju7100 for use as a pc monitor. Have any idea what the max fps each screen will be able to handle?
Both are max 60 fps. They can't display 1080p @ 120 fps. The 120Hz is really only via internal interpolation unfortunately.

Would you recommend this TV for gaming usage? I honestly don't think I will notice the judder when watching movies. Besides, I usually will download torrent files when I am watching movies, and never an actual disk.
If you're not worried about judder, then there's no reason to avoid the JU6500. Keep in mind, though, that it's not only disc-based media that can have judder. Any videos - including video files - that are 24 fps will have judder.

My primary plans for the TV are as follows:
In the spare bedroom which is fairly low light or dark.
1080p @ 60 @ 4.4.4. (PC gaming)
4k @ 60 @ 4.4.4. (PC desktop)
Streaming Netflix / YouTube (over WiFi, not through the PC)
Is the JU7100 worth the extra $400 over the JU6500 for this? (pretty steep difference for me)
Is the stutter at 24P that bad? I've never noticed this occurrence before on past TVs?
If I stream Netflix / YouTube from the PC to The TV will the stutter still be there?
Is it worth / necessary to switch between Gaming mode and PC mode when either PC gaming or using the PC desktop?
Is there another TV you would recommend?
The judder is pretty noticeable, but it's only apparent with 24 fps video (Blu-rays, DVDs, streaming films). It won't be an issue for TV shows or most YouTube videos.
It's not really necessary to switch back and forth, unless you find the level of input lag you get with PC is too high. Try playing games in PC mode and see how it goes.
Those are the two best options in that price range, so you should decide between them.

Yes. It will have judder with any 24 fps content, no matter what resolution it is.

We haven't reviewed the JU6400 yet, so we can't be sure, but we expect the main difference will be that it can't do 4k chroma 4:4:4 at 60hz.

I just bought the JU6500. I turned off Auto Motion and calibrated the TV. Out of the box I was seeing judder, and since I've made the changes I haven't seen any judder. Samsung also mentioned that it could be my cable provider. The picture is great. Is it possible that this issue can be remedied through setting adjustments?
No. It's likely what you were seeing initially was frame skipping caused by the Auto Motion. But if you don't notice it now, don't worry about it. The judder we are referring to in this review is the 3:2 pulldown judder. It is a small, but constant judder. Some people don't notice or don't mind it.

If I was going to invest in a 4k TV for strictly cable TV watching, Netflix and a few DVDs, which one or brand do you recommend, and why?
The Vizio M is a great choice for most people. It's inexpensive (for a 4k TV), and the picture quality is quite good. Its upscaling for sub-1080p video isn't the best, though. If you really want DVDs and cable to look as good as they can, the Samsung JU7100 is a better buy.

I have just purchased this tv and I am very concerned about this judder issue. Do you think purchasing the J6300 is a better option? They are both the exact same price and I have no problem returning the 4k. I watch alot of netflix and movies and I am concerned that I may have made a mistake in this purchase.
Keep in mind that the judder of the JU6500 is consistent and not apparent to most people. Take a look at the video here here for an explanation of what judder is. Since you already bought the JU6500, try it for some time and see if it bothers you. If it does, then the J6300 is a better option.

Another question about judder. I have an older Samsung LCD TV (2008 model - LN46A550) that is 60 hz, and I've never noticed any problem with the likely thousands of movies I've watched since then via Blu-ray, and streaming at 1080p. Will I notice it on a 2160p TV @ 60Hz?
No. The judder looks the same on both.

If you're reasonably sure it's in good shape, there's no reason not to. You may want to see if they offer some sort of warranty, just to cover your bases in case they overworked the TV. But yes, that's a really great price for that TV.

I recently purchased the 65JU6500 from Samsung and found this to be a really great picture. I have a lot of indirect light in the living room and this TV performed great. Unfortunately, after several days of a frustrating connection process at power up, I had to return it. It turns out that the Samsung is not compatible with my HDMI Extender and therefore experienced "Handshake" issues with my HDMI signal every time I turned the TV on. I called Samsung and they recommended that I just plug the Cable Box directly into the TV. This obviously is not the desired outcome as I went to great lengths to provide an HDMI extender over Cat5e from the cable box room to the TV wall mount. I did some research and found there may be encryption issues with non-HDCP compliant devices. Is this a common problem with newer TV's? Are there some brands that account for this and allow the TV to connect to non-HDCP compliant devices?
This isn't something that we test, so we can't really help you there. Non-HDCP compliant support is a gray area, so there isn't a lot of info available. Your best bet would probably to go to a retail store with your cable extender and try it on the TVs there.

I have the UN55JU6500, and the issue that I am having is with connecting to my media server. I am able to connect and see my folders. The issue is playing HD content. I am able to play SD content, but if I select any high bit-rate file, I get an error. Funny thing is, I'm able to play the high bit-rate files if I "play to" the TV with DLNA, so I know the TV is able to play them. Is there a way to fix this?
We don't have this issue on our TV, so we unfortunately don't know what should be done to solve it. Your best bet is to contact Samsung support for assistance.

In your review of the 48" version of the JU6500 you say 'the UN48JU6500 is a decent mid-range 4k TV, but it lacks some of the features of larger, more expensive models'. I'm trying to figure out at what size those features of the larger models starts becoming apparent. For example the 50" JU6500 is only $100 more than the 48" and the 55" JU6500 is only $200 more than the 48". Do either of those two sizes have features that it is worth spending more for, or is it only on the 60", 65", 75" versions of the JU6500 or different models altogether that you are referring to in your verbiage. I recently purchased a 60" Samsung UN60JU6500AFXZA at Walmart. The model number is clearly marked on the box. I've never seen the "A" in AFXZA before. Does that have any significance or does it just identify it as a Walmart product?
It must be an identifier for Walmart product and should be the same an other JU6500.
