Picture Quality

The Samsung JU6700 isn't the best TV for watching movies. It does have pretty deep, fairly uniform blacks, but since it has judder, 24 fps movies will look pretty bad.

You also don't get more advanced features you see in pricier 4k TVs, things like HDR, local dimming, and the ability to play 3D material.

Sound Quality

The sound is reasonably accurate at regular listening volumes, but gets pretty distorted when you crank it up.

The TV can get pretty loud, which is good, and the bass, while not great, is decent for a TV.

Note: Sound Quality test for TVs reviewed before 2017 was performed at 75dB, 85dB, and Max SPL. Starting 2017, the target SPL levels have been changed to 70dB, 80dB, and Max dB SPL.

Unless you care about the curve or the fancy remote, get the cheaper JU6500 UHD TV instead of this Samsung JU6700. The picture quality is the same. It is good, but it does have a little bit of motion blur and judder.

I recently purchased a JU6700 and I noticed a weird glitch that occurs whenever you drop the backlight setting below 20. For every notch below 20 there is a horizontal line that drops from the top about an inch per number. So if I set the backlight to 15, there is faint line about 5" from the top, where everything above the line is slightly darker then below the line. This really stands out on grey/faint color screens, or when the camera is moving north and south. You can even see it slightly on your "Gray Uniformity" test. Would you be able to confirm?

So I just bought this 6700 tv but it came with the old black n grey Samsung remote, not that the one you show on this review. Is something wrong with mine or do they come like that? Please explain, thanks!

What size of M8 bolts does it use for wall mounting? The ones that come with the regulator wall mounts are too short for the two bottom sockets.

I watch a lot of soccer. Will this TV's motion blur issue bother me? Or should I go with the 7100/7500 for safer bet? Thanks.
It has a bit more blur than average, but it still shouldn't be an issue for sports.

Does new HDMI 2.0a support for HDR mean that every 4k TV with HDMI2.0 can be updated to HDMI 2.0a and display HDR content, or just 10 bit panel TVs with FALD?
HDMI 2.0a adds a metadata flag for HDR, so it's probable that HDMI 2.0 4k TVs will accept HDR material via an update. That said, unless a TV is capable of displaying a wider range, there won't be much benefit.

If the 6700 does not come with 3D glasses, do you need them?
The JU6700 is not able to play 3D content, so there's no need for 3D glasses.

Would you recommend the JU6700 or the JU6500. I use the TV for most for gaming and watching sports, then regular TV, Netflix, and the occasional DVD movie. I like the curved screen, but it's not a necessity if the JU6500 is the better TV. Are they basically identical in terms of picture?
They're almost the same, but the JU6500 has better uniformity and a bit less blur on fast movement. We recommend taking the JU6500.

I'm looking to get either this model tv or js7000. Do both of them have HDR display or just the js7000 does, or should i just go for the ju6700?
The JS7000 has the wider color gamut feature, not the JU6700. None have local dimming, so technically none will increase the dynamic range of the picture.

You have the remote listed as 'Basic' but it looks like a smart remote to me. Has a "pointer" per the picture, if that picture is accurate.

How do these new Samsungs compare to the H7150 series? Should I try and grab an H7150 while they're still around, or go for these newer models?
The JU7100 is pretty much the exact same as the H7150, but with 4k. The JU6500/JU6700 are close, but have worse motion blur. If you don't care about 4k, the H7150 is a better deal, if you can find it.

How would the JU6700 40" work as a monitor on your desk?
It would work okay. Because it's not an IPS screen, the contrast may look weaker on the edges of the screen (as would be the case with most TVs used as monitors). Apart from that, it's a very good choice.

Are there any differences between the JU6700 and JU6600? Some say they are same model just different model variants.
That's correct, the JU6700 is available in North America and the JU6600 is the European variant.

They are all equally good for TV viewing so any will do.

Why is the contrast score so low with such a deep black level? And also the clouding - Would it be more pronounced in a darkened room while watching films?
The TV scored okay for contrast, but there are other TVs (like the Vizio M, for example) that have deeper blacks, and therefore a better score. Clouding issues are indeed more noticeable in dark rooms.

How did you turn on Game mode? I don't have that option on mine.
Open your menu and go to 'System' -> 'General.' The Game Mode option will be there.

How well would this work as a computer gaming monitor?
It would work decently well for 60 fps gaming (it has low input lag, but it's about average for the amount of blur it has), but it's not able to display 1080p120.

Hello, am planning to to buy a tv today, but can't decide between JS7000 and the JU6700, one has a lower contrast ratio & the another high response time. My question is what do you recommend, will I notice these 2 flaws in each TV? I will use it mainly for gaming. Thanks
Go with the JU6700. Although the pixel response time of the of the JS7000 is lower, the better contrast ratio and uniformity of the JU6700 is much more noticable.
We are not taking any more questions for this product because we no longer have it in our lab.
