Keyboard Latency Retests

When we first started testing the latency of keyboards for our Test Bench 1.3 update, we placed the testing solenoid too close to each key. Because of this, the solenoid wasn’t building full momentum, causing the time between the solenoid hitting the copper tape and actuating the switch to be longer and introducing a small amount of latency. As we tested more keyboards, we discovered this and changed the placement of the solenoid to be higher to avoid any of the introduced latency.

Due to this change in placement during testing, we did a spot check of the first 21 keyboards we tested to confirm if this made a difference. We then did a full latency retest for any keyboards with a difference greater than 15% of our original results. Of those 21, we found that 12 of them had a difference greater than 15%, so we have updated those 12 reviews with the new latency results. We are now confident that all of our latency results better represent real-world use and are all tested in the same way to ensure comparability of results across reviews.

Please let us know if you have any questions about our testing or results!
