Another Disappointing (HDR) monitor

Thank you for reviewing it and thus confirming that in 2018 we still don’t have a good HDR for gaming that’s not $2000..

Hope 2019 gives us something decent.

Sure it doesnt get bright, but tell me this isnt an improvement..

Thank you for contacting us. Our comment refers primarily to HDR movies. HDR movies are masted in 1000-4000 nits(cd/m2). So almost no monitor and very few TVs are able to deliver the creators intent, in HDR without experiencing some form of clipping in the higher luminosities. HDR Games, on the other hand, are not necessarily mastered in the same range as movies. Nonetheless, this monitor can reach up to 265 nits in HDR which is the same if not lower than its SDR brightness. So even if the creators intent is not at 1000 nits for HDR Gaming it is unlikely that the 270 nits is enough. In general, HDR support on monitors, and PCs, is far behind TVs.

Well, Monitor-HDR is actually a few things coming together: Peak Brightness, static contrast, (real) bitdepht and increased gamut. This monitor is only lacking in one of these aspects. Those three it does support already leads to superior antialiasing (you can map the calculated data to more colors, and if implemented right, this doesn´t cost you any performance. That´s some pretty nice stuff.
