The UtechSmart VENUS is an excellent wired MMO mouse with a fairly standard 12-button layout on the left side. Its right-handed ergonomic slant makes it quite comfortable for extended use, though unfortunately, it's too large for people with small hands to comfortably reach all buttons, and is best suited for medium or large hands in palm or claw grip. While its click latency is a bit high, it has one of the most consistent CPI that we've tested so far, giving it remarkable sensor performance.
Our Verdict
The UtechSmart VENUS is a very decent wired mouse for office or multimedia use thanks to its plethora of programmable buttons. Its slightly slanted and ergonomic design is quite comfortable for right-handed use, and it feels surprisingly well-built. Unfortunately, it's quite bulky and people with small hands will have a hard time reaching all the buttons regardless of grip type.

The UtechSmart VENUS is an alright wired mouse for FPS games. While its click latency is higher than many gaming mice, it should still be low enough for most people, and the sensor is among the most consistent we've tested so far. It also has a wide adjustable CPI range and a ton of programmable buttons. Its shape and size is best designed for palm or claw grip for people with medium or large hands.

It has a ton of programmable buttons on the left side, great for MMOs, and its well-built, ergonomic design should be comfortable enough to get you through marathon gaming sessions. The UtechSmart VENUS is a large, wired mouse that's likely too big to easily fit in most laptop cases. Its wire will also be cumbersome when trying to use it in a tight space like on a plane or train; this mouse is designed to use with your gaming setup at home.

Compared To Other Mice
The UtechSmart VENUS is almost the same as the Redragon M908, but with an even better sensor, and with a smaller thumb rest and no pinky rest. The UtechSmart VENUS is a slightly better wired MMO gaming mouse than the Havit HV-MS760. The VENUS has a wider adjustable CPI range and more programmable buttons. Both mice are a bit too large for people with small hands to reach all the buttons, and the click latency is only decent for both of them.
The UtechSmart VENUS is a slightly better wired MMO mouse than the Redragon M908. While the two mice look almost identical, the Redragon has a larger thumb rest and a pinky rest. They both weigh the same and feature the same adjustable weight options, and they're both recommended to be used in palm or claw grip by people with medium or large hands. The UtechSmart has a wider and more adjustable CPI range and features one of the most consistent CPIs that we've tested.
The UtechSmart VENUS is a slightly better wired MMO gaming mouse than the Havit HV-MS735. The VENUS has a wider and more consistent CPI range, as well as a profile switching button on the mouse itself. The Havit, on the other hand, is better if you have extra-large hands, and it's a tiny bit lighter.
The Corsair SCIMITAR PRO RGB is a better wired MMO mouse than the UtechSmart VENUS. The Corsair's side button panel can slide forward and back to fit your hand more comfortably, and the mouse is a bit lighter. It feels better made and is better suited for people with small or extra-large hands. The Corsair's click latency is quite a bit lower, and they both have a great sensor performance. On the other hand, the UtechSmart has more programmable buttons.
The Razer Naga Trinity is a much better wired MMO gaming mouse than the UtechSmart VENUS. The Razer has a unique design with swappable side buttons, making it a great choice for MMO and FPS games. It also has more programmable buttons, with its MMO panel installed, as its mouse wheel has L/T tilt buttons. The Razer may also be a better choice if you have extra-large hands and use a claw grip. On the other hand, the VENUS has weight optimization and a better and more consistent sensor.
The Logitech G600 MMO Gaming is a slightly better MMO gaming mouse than the UtechSmart VENUS. The Logitech feels a bit better built, is more suitable for extra large hands with a palm or claw grip, has a better cable, much lower click latency, is fully compatible with both Windows or macOS, and its mouse wheel has vertical tilt. On the other hand, the VENUS has a much wider adjustable CPI range.
The UtechSmart VENUS Pro is a good MMO gaming mouse and a wireless version of the UtechSmart VENUS. You can connect the Pro either with its charging cable or wirelessly with its USB receiver. It feels sturdier and has an optical sensor. On the other hand, the VENUS is a wired-only model, but it's a bit lighter. It has an older laser sensor, but performance-wise, it has a marginally wider CPI range, a more precisely adjustable CPI, and a more consistent sensor. The VENUS also includes a set of eight 2.5g weights, which the wireless version lacks.
Test Results
The UtechSmart VENUS has a rather wide but short body with RGB lighting and a panel of MMO-oriented buttons on the left side. The mouse looks almost identical to the Redragon M908, except without the thumb and pinky rests. The mouse is matte black with a gritty finish.
This mouse is quite bulky, and like most wired gaming mice, it isn't ideal for taking with you; it'll likely stay at home with your gaming setup.
While this mouse comes with eight 2.5g weights to customize its weight, unfortunately, it's quite heavy even with no weights installed. If you want a mouse with 12 side buttons that weigh significantly less, check out the Razer Naga X.
Build quality is very good. While the mouse feels quite solid with no flex or wobble, the side buttons feel quite mushy. The mouse is also covered in a rough, gritty texture which may not be for everyone.
This mouse is very comfortable to use. The rough, gritty texture makes it more grippy and unlikely to slip around in your hand. There's a small thumb rest on the left side, making it more designed for right-handed use. Unfortunately, its CPI switch is a bit tough to reach, but it's unlikely you'll need to press this button very often.
In palm grip, small hands will have a hard time reaching the side buttons that are positioned closer to the front of the mouse, while very large hands will have to reach quite far back to hit the back side buttons.

Due to the shape of this mouse, it isn't recommended for a fingertip grip. While people with very large hands may be able to use it in this grip, it's not designed for it.
The UtechSmart VENUS is a wired-only mouse, but Utech also produces a wireless version, the UtechSmart VENUS Pro.
The braided cable is quite stiff and keeps a lot of kinks from the packaging. There's very little flex and it'll drag across your desk.

The sensor is slightly off-centered, which might require time to get used to if you've never used a mouse with an off-centered sensor.
The UtechSmart VENUS has a ton of programmable buttons. The placement of the buttons is identical to the Redragon M908, and there are 12 programmable buttons on the left side. Every button can be reprogrammed except the 'Setting Switch' button on the underside of the mouse, which is used to switch between profiles.
The mouse wheel is pretty standard. It's not too clicky and has soft increments and a quiet overall scroll. Unfortunately, there's no horizontal scroll or L/T tilt buttons.
The UtechSmart VENUS' click latency is decent. While it's a bit higher than most gaming mice, it likely won't be too noticeable except for very competitive gaming. If you want a similar performing MMO mouse that has a lower click latency, check out the Havit HV-MS735.
The dedicated software for this mouse allows you to customize most aspects of the mouse including remapping all the buttons and changing the RGB lighting. The mouse has on-board memory so you can save your settings to the mouse and keep them if you switch PCs.
Unfortunately, the companion software for this mouse doesn't work on macOS. While the mouse will have default button-mapping on Mac, you can plug the mouse into a Windows PC, customize it, and move it back to your Mac if you want to change the settings.
