BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus [Turbo, Turbo Rewind] Vacuum Review

The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo has an only acceptable build quality. It's made from mostly hard plastic, except for its metal wand, but it could feel more sturdy, especially compared to some other BISSELL vacuums like the BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro. This vacuum has a single-hand stick grip, which some users may prefer, and there's suction control accessible on its handle. The head of the vacuum has a headlight, while the crevice tool has an LED light near the brush so you can illuminate hard-to-reach, possibly dark areas.

Unfortunately, while the brushrolls are removable, ten screws need to be taken out to get them out. The dirt compartment and turbo brush feel like they could crack if dropped, which is disappointing. However, while there are a lot of pieces to assemble, everything fits well together, although the dirt compartment can be a little tricky to put back in place.

The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo has many maintenance requirements. There are a lot of pieces you need to remove to access different parts of the vacuum.

• Dirt compartment: The top cover twists off, and it empties from the bottom. You can also remove the cyclone cylinder and wash it with warm water, but remember to let it dry for 24 hours before using it again.
• Brushroll: You can remove the brushroll, but you need a Philips screwdriver to remove the ten screws that hold in the base cover. After that, you can remove the brushroll belt that holds it in place and pull or cut out debris or hair tangled around the brush.
• Brushroll belt: Just like the brushroll, you need to take out all the screws first to access this part. The belt may need to be removed if there's any clogged debris or tangled hair on the brushroll. It just needs to be inspected to see if it's damaged or needs replacing.
• Pre-motor filters: These filters are found under the top cover of the dirt compartment. You can wash them with a light detergent, but they must dry for 24 hours before reuse.
• Post-motor filter: You can't wash this filter. You have access to it once you remove the dirt compartment and just need to twist it to take it out. If dust/debris accumulates on it, gently tap the filter against a trash container to remove it.

While this vacuum has only a couple of recurring costs, you need to replace some parts frequently, depending on your usage.

• Pre-motor filters: Both the foam and felt filters need to be replaced every three to six months. The foam filter also comes in a Febreze-brand variant, which the manufacturer advertises to keep odors down in your home. Both filters are sold separately.
• Post-motor filter: Not washable. You should replace this every three to six months. Just like the foam pre-motor filter, you can also get this part as Febreze-scented.

If you want an upright vacuum with almost no recurring costs, then look into the Dyson Ball Animal 2.

The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo is alright to store away. It has a fairly wide footprint, but luckily, you can attach the crevice tool and the upholstery/soft bristle brush directly to the vacuum. The 'Rewind' variants have an automatic cord retraction system, but you'll have to wind the cord back manually on 'Plus' models.

The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo has a decent dirt compartment. While it isn't as large as that of the BISSELL PowerForce Helix, it's still fairly big and has a line indicating when it's full.

The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo has a sub-par range. While its cord length is fairly long, its hose length falls short of the advertised 2.1m, especially as when you stretch the hose, it can pull and tip over the vacuum.

The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo has alright portability. It's somewhat heavy, but it has a carrying handle, making it easier to carry to another floor.

The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo has a couple of extra features. You can turn the brushroll on and off and control the vacuum's suction by using the slider to tackle either 'Low Carpet,' which is for low-pile carpet, or 'Plush Carpet,' which is for high-pile carpet.

There are a few tools that come with the BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus. There's a soft bristle brush that you can also use to clean upholstery. The crevice tool also has an LED light on the end so you can better see what you're cleaning in dark and dusty areas.

You can use the BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo in an upright position or a half-handheld position with the hose and wand attached.

This vacuum performs poorly on hard floors. While there's a brushroll shutoff to prevent scattering around debris on hard surfaces, it's still important to note that this roller is belt-driven and that this belt obscures a portion of the width of the roller. This leaves an obvious pattern as to where the vacuum isn't picking up any debris; you can see this in greater detail here.

This vacuum's performance on high-pile carpet is passable. Once again, the pattern from the drive belt is immediately apparent, so you'll need to clean the same area more than once to fully clear away any messes. It also pushes around a small amount of larger debris, like rice or cereal, from the front of its floorhead.

This vacuum does a passable job of cleaning low-pile carpet. Aside from the brushroll belt drive obscuring a portion of the cleaning head and forcing you to clean the same area again, it's actually reasonably effective at dealing with fine debris that's been worked into carpet fibers. However, it does leave behind a noticeable amount of larger debris like cereal or rice.

This vacuum does a decent job of cleaning pet hair on low-pile carpet. Aside from areas in which the belt drive divides the width of the brushroll, it's quite effective in handling hair that's been pressed deep into carpet fibers.

The suction performance is terrible. Put simply, the vacuum's floorhead is too high above the ground to generate much of a seal.

This vacuum has good airflow performance. It might lag behind high-end options like the Dyson Ball Animal 3. However, it still comfortably outperforms most cordless models on the market and won't have too much trouble lifting away heavier debris.

The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Plus is a little noisy. You'll want to clean in an enclosed room to avoid annoying anyone nearby.

The BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser Turbo has good maneuverability. Its rotating head is great for navigating objects, but it's still a bit tall, so it can have trouble getting into tight spaces like beneath your couch. That said, it comes with an LED crevice tool, so you can get into tight spaces and clean them. You can also use the soft-bristle brush to clean furniture using the wand, which is nice. The vacuum has no problem with tassels or electrical cords, but it can get stuck on low-pile carpet if using the 'Low Carpet' suction control.

This vacuum does a great job of handling pet hair on furniture with its Pet TurboEraser tool. It's a little awkward to use in this configuration, but aside from a few remaining short strands, it's quite effective for this kind of task.

Some fine particles can escape from this vacuum's exhaust.
