The Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm is a lightweight, symmetrically shaped wireless gaming mouse with two buttons on the left side and a range of modular parts to customize the look and feel of the mouse. Despite its interchangeable parts, it also feels very sturdy. You can connect it with its paracord-like charging cable or wirelessly with its USB receiver. It's well-suited for all grip types and most hand sizes, but small hands may have trouble reaching both side buttons and the scroll wheel using any grip type. Performance-wise, it has a very low lift-off distance, and you can set the CPI by increments of 100 within a broad range. Unfortunately, the unit we tested has very high click latency for a gaming mouse.

Our Verdict

8.0 Office/Multimedia

The Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm is great for office and multimedia work. It feels well-built, you can program all of the buttons on the top of the mouse, and it connects wirelessly with its USB receiver or wired with its charging cable. It has a comfortable ambidextrous shape suitable for all grip types and all but small hand sizes. Unfortunately, it doesn't have Bluetooth support, and its scroll wheel lacks L/R tilt buttons and a free-scrolling mode.

Pros
  • Feels well-built.
  • Lots of physical customizability possible with modular pieces.
  • You can reprogram all buttons on the top of the mouse.
Cons
  • No Bluetooth support.
  • Scroll wheel lacks L/R tilt buttons and doesn't have a free-scrolling mode.
7.8 Video Games (FPS)

The Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm is good for FPS gaming, but it has a very high click latency for a gaming mouse. That said, it's lightweight, it feels well-built, and it has a comfortable, ambidextrous shape well-suited for all grip types and all but small hands. It also has mouse feet that glide very smoothly and a surprisingly high-quality and flexible charging cable, especially considering it's a wireless mouse. It has a very low lift-off distance and a broad CPI range. Unfortunately, you can only adjust the CPI by steps of 100, and some gamers may prefer being able to customize their CPI more precisely.

Pros
  • Feels well-built.
  • Lightweight.
Cons
  • Very high click latency.
7.2 Video Games (MMO)

The Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm is decent for MMO gaming, but it doesn't have nearly as many side buttons as dedicated MMO gaming mice, and it has very high click latency. Nevertheless, it feels well-built and has a comfortable ambidextrous shape suitable for all grip types and all but small hand sizes. It also has a very low lift-off distance, and you can adjust the CPI by increments of 100 within a broad range. Unfortunately, you can't program a button to cycle between custom settings profiles and can only swap between them manually within the software.

Pros
  • Feels well-built.
  • You can reprogram all buttons on the top of the mouse.
Cons
  • Very high click latency.
  • Not nearly as many side buttons as a dedicated MMO gaming mouse.
8.1 Ultra-Light Gaming

The Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm is an impressive ultra-light gaming mouse, but it has very high click latency. That said, it's lightweight and feels well-built. It also has a high-quality, flexible paracord-like charging cable, mouse feet that glide very smoothly, and a comfortable ambidextrous shape suitable for all grip types and all but small hands. Performance-wise, it has a very low minimum lift-off distance and a CPI you can adjust by steps of 100 within a wide range.

Pros
  • Feels well-built.
  • Lightweight.
Cons
  • Very high click latency.
8.0 Travel

The Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm is very good for travel, but it's somewhat bulky and may not fit in most laptop cases. That said, it connects wirelessly with its USB receiver, and it has a compartment under its modular palm rest for storing the receiver when it's not in use. It also has onboard memory, meaning that you can use custom settings on computers without the software installed. Unfortunately, it doesn't have Bluetooth support.

Pros
  • Feels well-built.
  • Onboard memory.
Cons
  • No Bluetooth support.
  • 8.0 Office/Multimedia
  • 7.8 Video Games (FPS)
  • 7.2 Video Games (MMO)

Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm has two base colorways in black and white and has both a solid plastic and a honeycomb-design base model to choose between. The Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm we tested is the white honeycomb-design base model version. You can order sets of all the modular pieces in nine other colorways on the manufacturer's website. While not a variant, there's also a right-handed, ergo version of this mouse, the Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Ergo. You can see the label for our unit here.

Compared To Other Mice

The Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm is an excellent wireless gaming mouse in Pwnage's lineup of Ultra Custom mice. One of the major selling points of this lineup is customizability. Through its website, Pwnage offers a range of modular pieces in nine colorways that change the look and feel of the mouse, including palm rests, L/R click buttons, button spacers, mouse feet with different thicknesses, and CPI buttons of varying heights. It also has a very comfortable and time-tested shape very similar to the BenQ ZOWIE S2 and solid sensor performance. Unfortunately, the unit we tested has very high click latency, making it much less suitable for gaming than its otherwise very similar right-handed counterpart, the Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Ergo.

The Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm we tested has very high click latency. However, the newer version, the Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm 2 has a much lower click latency.

Note: We expected the click latency test results for the Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Symm to be closer to those of the Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Ergo, which is a very similar right-handed version of this mouse. We retested the click latency multiple times and received consistently high results. However, we achieved much lower results testing other mice using the same equipment within the same day. If you have this mouse and would like to share your experiences with us, we encourage you to comment in the discussions.
