I will say this coming from a Visio p55-f1, and now have a Sony 65” x900h since November of last year.
If you’re primarily looking for a movie watching TV and lots of HDR content I would not recommend the x900h. I don’t know how many backlight zones there are. But their backlighting algorithm sucks. You can have a bright object in the middle of the screen and it’ll frequently bloom across the entire panel from end to end. But not always…
Compared to the Vizio which had a much more controlled backlight system, the Sony seems wildly over zealous, and blooms all over the place.
It’s good and responsive for gaming, and I like that. The Android TV is nice and works well. But if I was using purely for movies and HDR heavy content I’d be disappointed with it.
If it’s not in every game, maybe some of your games are using different resolutions and frame rates? Could be some games are running 4k30, some 4k60, 1080x120, etc, etc. Which will change how things look.
Most TVs will be able to show your source format on an overlay. Maybe this is affecting what you see?
Edit: on my ps4 pro I had options of higher resolution (4k30) or higher frame rate 1080x120 in some games, I always opted for the 120hz because I couldn’t stand the lower frame rates.
It’s been 10 days so hopefully you found a solution, I Don’t have a hisense but on my Vizio TV i had to have the source turned on (Xbox X), then go into the TV picture menu and toggle HDMI enhanced mode. Once I did that on the TV I could enabled the extra features on the Xbox. Honestly I don’t know why TVs don’t have this on by default (or detect when a device is capable and auto adjust or something).
For some reason when I was just attempting it without the Xbox connected the TV wouldn’t let me toggle expanded HDMI mode.
Try and force them to give you a different TV. The P55-F1 is a pure lemon.
Positive result, still under warranty and seems they don’t have a replacement unit of the same model so I’ll be getting a cheque in return for my P55 instead. Customer support was great each time, I’ll give them credit for that, but 3 TVs in 2 years all with different backlight issues has kind of scared me off of Vizio, they definitely have some QC issues they need to work out with their full array backlighting.
Looking at the Hisense H9G as a replacement, but wondering if I’m going to end up with similar quality issues. Might have to bite the bullet and jump to a bigger brand name. (Not that I haven’t been burned by big name products either)
I’m currently in process of getting my 2nd P55-F1 RMA’d. First one had the flickering issue about 6 months after purchase, the 2nd now has one of the backlight zones permanently dead. Not sure I’d buy a Vizio again, if you search P55 backlight issues you’ll find a ton of people with similar issues
