Is it still true that Dolby Digital has an incorrect Implementation with the latest firmware?
Hi there! Yes, it’s true that we experienced incorrect implementation with Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus content using this bar. We’ve updated the text to include some more information about our findings, but basically, with this content, sound effects intended for either the right or left surround channel play from both the bar and the satellite at the same time. You get a slightly less clear and real feel as a result.
Update: Added market comparison with the JBL Bar 500 to the Dimensions - Satellites box.
Hi, any plan on converting this to 1.3?
Could you also retest the dolby incorrect implementation with the latest firmware (april 2024)?
Thanks!

Hi JoRouss
The JBL Bar 1000 will be converted to the latest 1.3 TB. We are quite busy in the lab at the moment, but we will try to retest the JBL Bar 1000 on their latest firmware before performing the TB conversion.
Cheers, Dagobiet
Update: We’ve converted this review to Test Bench Update 1.3. If applicable, we’ve retested stereo sound based on the manufacturer’s recommendations. Additionally, we’ve expanded our audio latency tests to the following boxes: Audio Latency: ARC, Audio Latency: HDMI In, and Audio Latency: Optical. You can see the full changelog here.
Hello, Why it is marked that there are no bass and treble adjusment? I think there it is. On remote also.
Update: We updated the Sound Enhancement Features box to clarify that you can adjust the bass and treble amounts via the companion app.
JBL has already released firmware update version 24.41.41.80.00 for the JBL Bar 1000
With the current latest OneOS 3.0 (24.41.41.80.00), has the Audio Latency on HDMI ARC and HDMI IN been improved? I hope you guys in RTINGS can perform a re-test on this.

Hey rtings_lurker,
We have to limit new firmware retest requests to those that identify specific changes to measurements we take in a changelog. So if the manufacturer doesn’t specifically outline a change that was made, we can’t always retest the unit. This is to help us avoid having to retest an entire product on a new firmware hoping to identify a change, when often there hasn’t been one we can measure.
I found this changelog from JBL online but it doesn’t list the firmware you mention.
Did the OTA firmware update list a specific change to latency when updating to 24.41.41.80.00?
Thanks, Matt
Thank you for the reply!
I’ve checked online and JBL doesn’t have any changelog firmware update version 24.41.41.80.00. However such firmware update is available when you check for update via the JBL One app. So right now, it is a puzzle on what things were improved or changed due to such update.
Hi, Can you please update “Stereo Frequency Response With Preliminary Calibration” section with new 7 band equalizer of latest JBL ONE app ? I want to know rtings equalizer settings

Unfortunately we don’t currently provide any sort of calibration/eq settings for soundbars, so it isn’t something we’re able to do at the moment. We’ll pass it along to the rest of the team to consider implementing in the future though!
