Hey Bobbee,
If you’re looking for the best picture quality in a well-controlled viewing environment like yours , you can’t go wrong with an OLED panel. The technology has come a long way since it was unveiled, with many budget friendly options that can go against even the flagship models.
You can take a look at our table tool to see a few options worth considering. We created a custom view showing aspects that could be important for your needs.
Notable OLED contenders in the budget-conscious range include the Sony A75L and the LG B4 OLED. The shortcoming that could affect your viewing experience is stutter. This is something that affects all OLED technology, the fast pixel response time makes low frame rate content movements look “choppy” (especially panning shots like this). This can be mitigated using the motion smoothing settings in the TV, but some users can still be bothered by it.
If this is a dealbreaker, then the Hisense U75QG (LED) is a great alternative. Good picture quality, black level uniformity, upscaling and virtually stutter free movie watching experience. The price for the 55” size variant is also very appealing!
Hi Cornet579
Your QN75Q80R was tested using an older methodology while the Neo QLED and OLED models you are considering have been tested using our newer test methodologies. The mixed-usage score will not be a meaningful comparison. Older scores cannot be adjusted using a universal formula, they are reworked through significant testing dictated by the new methodology. You can still use our compare tool to review the individual measurements and test results to see how the models stack up against each other. That said, an upgrade from your Q80R to the S95D OLED will be quite impactful. Even in a bright room, the S95D has great reflection handling.
What is the best 98 or 100 inch tv with reasonable price, would you say qm851 for 2800 or qm7k 2499 or a Hisense
Hey gmtonyshouston,
You’re definitely on the right path. Both the TCL QM851 and QM7K come in 98-inch versions that are reasonably priced for their size, while the Hisense U8N’s 100-inch model is priced higher than its 85-inch counterpart, which might make it less appealing if you’re keeping budget in mind.
You should consider the TCL QM851 as it is a great choice for its overall picture quality and local dimming performance. If you can afford the extra splurge, we’d go all in on the Hisense U8N for the superior color accuracy and reflection handling.
We hope this helps narrow things down. Let us know if you’re prioritizing gaming, movies, or sports—we can help narrow it down further. Our compare tool is also a great tool to quickly compare specs of the models you are considering. Side by side comparison of TCL QM851 v Hisense U8N here
