Update: Confirmed that 1440p works on this monitor with the PS5.
Hello, I have serious issues with flickering (jumping brightness) in games. Looks like this monitor is not compatible with Nvidia VRR technologies. Same issue is not visible with VRR disabled.
as you state in review:
Unfortunately, there are some issues when using this monitor in G-SYNC compatible mode. As long as your frame rate stays above 60fps, you won’t have any issues. If it drops below that, there’s significant flickering that gets worse as the frame rate drops.
My observations are that whenever there is fps drop (i.e. from 170 to 140), it flickers. I have two PCs capable of pushing over 200fps in Dota 2 (AMD and Nvidia VGA), so I have few more days to trouble shoot, before I return this unit.
Also it creates high pitch noises at specific colors and some coil whine. I’m not happy with such a quality Dell :( So far can not recommend for gaming with VRR features enabled.

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue! It definitely does sound like the same issue we experienced, or at least similar, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to fix that.

No need to sorry Nicholas, I was expecting the issue not to be so visible. After tweaking it a little bit by following this video, things got slightly better. Anyways cannot recommend, I decided to return the unit. Will look for something Gsync certified in future I guess :) Keep up great reviews! Thanks

I was having the same flicker issue but solved it by turning SmartHDR off. With that set to off, you can run Gsync without flickering when you drop FPS. There should be some guide to this or software fix

Hey, does it help also in less than 60 fps? Byw can u tell ur monitor firmware? As i saw some post from July that some1 had firmware 03(purchased at 2022) and bought another 1 around july this year and had firmware 05 and no flickers at all
I wanted to share my experience with this monitor. I bought this one based on their review here but unfortunately, mine has pretty poor black uniformity. I usually game in a pretty dark room and it is fairly distracting even with the brightness turned down to 25%. Maybe I just got a bad panel? Does anyone else have this issue?
Aside from the mediocre black uniformity the stand for the monitor has some issues. The panel wiggles around with even a slight bump of the desk or when I am typing too quickly and firmly. All this considered I’m leaning towards sending it back to Amazon and finding something else.
Update: Updated text to reflect changes with Test Bench 1.2.
Just picked up this monitor to upgrade from the S2722DGM and so far it’s nice. I do have a question for the reviewers and other users… on a gray uniformity test do you notice the left side having a touch of yellow tinge to it? On a white, black or other solid RGB screen its not very noticeable but on gray you can see it. I don’t know if this is common with the S3422DWG.

Hello,
As you can see from our Gray Uniformity results, we didn’t notice such an issue with our unit.
Hi may i know how can i apply RGB Settings Gain (100-100-91), Offset (53-50-53) on my monitor. I have a windows laptop with an nvidia gpu. Do i use the nvidia control panel?
Update: We’ve converted this review to Test Bench 2.0. This includes new tests for VRR Motion Performance, Refresh Rate Compliance, Cumulative Absolute Deviation (CAD), and VRR Flicker. You can read the full changelog here.
Hello, I have a problem with this new monitor that every few minutes it goes black for two seconds. The screen is connected to a new mini PC AMD. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this? Thanks
Hello, I would like to ask you to review the rating of this monitor with the latest firmware update that Dell presented, the quality of the screen took an absurd leap in terms of performance, removing several ghosts. I also noticed that the monitor’s rating before the 8.2 era dropped to 7.2 today.
I didn’t understand that.

The change in rating score is due to the fact we updated the monitor on our newest test methodology. During the retesting, we did do the firmware update and redid all the performance testing which you can see in the review! Hope that helps clear the confusion!

I realize this is a late reply, but I just got this monitor last week, and I followed this guide to set it up. Those RGB settings have to be applied through the monitor’s own OSD menu, not through software.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I just got this monitor and it doesn’t have either of those issues. I game in a very dark room and the black uniformity on my model is almost perfect. I was also lucky to get one with zero dead pixels.
As for the stand, make sure the screw which holds on the base is tightened fully (as tight as you can turn it by hand, without the assistance of tools). Mine doesn’t wobble at all.
Update: Converted to Test Bench 2.0.1.
Hello. Why isn’t the ASUS TUF Gaming VG34VQ1A recognized as the best budget curved gaming monitor? It’s better in all respects than the Dell S3422DWG, at the same price

Hi, the ASUS is on an older test methodology, and scores aren’t comparable between monitors on different methodologies. That said, you’re right that the ASUS has better contrast, a faster refresh rate, and slightly better ergonomics. If you can find it for a similar price to the Dell it can be a very good choice!
Update: Added that the newer Dell Alienware AW3425DWM gets brighter in SDR.
