The LG NeoChef MSER2090S is a large countertop microwave. It has a simple glass touch panel with typical options, like 'Popcorn,' 'Defrost,' and a '+30 seconds' button, as well as controls for the microwave's cooking sensor, which detects steam to make cooking more automatic.

Our Verdict

8.3
Everyday Use

The LG MSER2090S offers great performance for everyday use. It's a powerful 1200-watt model that heats food quickly and offers enough internal capacity for plates, bowls, or even a full-sized casserole dish. Its responsive glass touch panel makes it easy to program simple cooking settings, and it includes a cooking sensor that automatically adjusts cooking time by detecting steam. That said, it takes more effort to set a lower power level or cook for a specific amount of time. It's reasonably quiet during operation, though plenty of microwaves are quieter.

Pros
  • Heats food very quickly.

  • Easy to use for simple cooking tasks.

  • Responsive glass touch panel.

  • Includes a cooking sensor.

Cons
  • Louder than some other microwaves.

  • Difficult to use for more complex cooking tasks.

    Popular Microwave Comparisons

The LG NeoChef MSER2090S is a countertop microwave with a very large internal capacity. This 1200-watt model cooks food faster than some microwaves with the same power rating, like the Breville the Smooth Wave. Like the LG LMC0975ST, it has a glass touch panel that is responsive and pleasant to use; however, unlike that model, it also has a cooking sensor that can automatically adjust the cook time, making heating and reheating more hands-off. Similar to the Panasonic NN-SN975S, another very large countertop microwave, setting simple cooking programs is easy, but adjusting the power level and cook time to specific settings takes more time. While it's a reasonably quiet option, many models, such as the Toshiba EM131A5C-BS, are much quieter. It doesn't have a dedicated mute button, but you can silence the controls by holding down the "STOP/CLEAR" and "TIMER/CLOCK" buttons simultaneously for three seconds.

    Toshiba EM131A5C-BS

    Track

The LG NeoChef MSER2090S is a better microwave than the Toshiba EM131A5C-BS for most people. It's a bit more powerful and offers a much larger internal capacity, so you can use it to heat larger dishes, like a lasagna or casserole. The LG has a glass touch panel, which is more responsive than the Toshiba's membrane touch panel. It's easier to set simple cooking programs with the Toshiba, but slightly easier to dial in the cooking settings with the LG. The Toshiba is quieter, however, so you may prefer it for that reason, or if you don't need as much cooking capacity.

    GE JES1072SHSS

    Track

The LG NeoChef MSER2090S is a better microwave than the GE JES1072SHSS for most people. It's a much larger and more powerful model, so there's more room to heat larger dishes, and it cooks faster. The LG's glass touch panel is more responsive and pleasant to use than the GE's membrane touch panel. While the GE lets you start simple cooking programs with one button press, the LG makes it slightly easier to adjust the power level or set a specific cook time, like heating for 2.5 minutes at 50% power. That said, the GE is quieter, so you may prefer it for that reason.

    LG LMC0975ST

    Track

The LG NeoChef MSER2090S is a better microwave than the LG LMC0975ST, mainly thanks to its larger internal capacity. It has more space inside, so you can reheat a full-sized casserole or lasagna along with plates and bowls of leftovers. While it's easier to start simple cooking programs with the LMC0975ST, it's still fairly easy with the NeoChef MSER2090S, and it's a bit easier to adjust the power level or set a more specific cooking time. That said, the LMC0975ST offers quieter operation, so you may prefer it for that reason or if you need a smaller microwave.

    Panasonic NN-SN68QB

    Track

The LG NeoChef MSER2090S is a better microwave than the Panasonic NN-SN68QB for most people. They're both powerful models that heat food quickly, but the LG offers a larger internal capacity and is easier and more convenient to use day to day. It has a glass touch panel which is more responsive than the Panasonic's membrane touch panel. While it's easy to start simple cooking tasks, like heating for three minutes at full power, on either, the LG makes it a little easier to adjust the power or set a more specific cook time. That said, the Panasonic is quieter, which you may prefer if noise is a concern.

Microwaves all perform similarly in terms of heating uniformity, so you won't notice a difference between models. Instead, heating evenness depends on the type and amount of food you're heating, as well as where it's placed in the cooking chamber. To learn more, read our investigation into microwave performance.
