The Samsung Bespoke ME90H1780R is an over-the-range microwave that can air fry, convection cook, and steam cook with the included bowl. It's designed to sync with ranges from the same brand that are enabled with 'SmartThings,' Samsung's smart home ecosystem. When connected, the microwave's hood fan and lights automatically turn on when you use the burners. This microwave also offers access to the SmartThings app, which includes personalized recipes, energy consumption information, and voice control.

Our Verdict

7.3
Everyday Use

The Samsung Bespoke ME90H1780R delivers decent performance for everyday use. It has a large internal capacity with room for most dishes, including a 9" x 13" casserole dish, and it operates quietly. This model heats food reasonably quickly, but some other 950-watt microwaves heat and reheat food faster. It's reasonably easy to use. With a glass touchscreen, the controls are responsive, and you can start a simple cooking program without too many button presses, though you have to press the buttons repeatedly to change the power level or set a specific cook time.

Pros
  • Heats food reasonably quickly.

  • Quiet operation.

  • Easy to use for simple cooking tasks.

Cons
  • Some 950-watt microwaves heat food faster.

  • Complex cooking tasks take many button presses.

    Popular Microwave Comparisons

The Samsung Bespoke ME90H1780R is a 950-watt over-the-range microwave. Like the IKEA GÅTEBO, a countertop microwave, it offers a couple of functions beyond microwaving: it air fries, cooks with convection, and steams with the included 'Pure Steam Bowl.' However, when it comes to everyday heating and reheating performance, this model underperforms compared to most other over-the-range models. For example, the GE JVM6175SKSS is more powerful, so it heats food faster, while the LG MVEM1825F makes it easier to start simple cooking programs, like cooking for three minutes at 100% power. That said, this model syncs to Wi-Fi-connected ranges from Samsung, so you may prefer this option if you've already invested in the brand's smart home ecosystem, SmartThings.

If you're wondering what we recommend, see our picks for the best microwaves, the best over-the-range microwaves, or the best countertop microwaves.

    GE JVM3160RFSS

    Track

The GE JVM3160RFSS and the Samsung Bespoke ME90H1780R are both over-the-range microwaves that operate quietly and offer enough space to heat large dishes. While the GE offers better overall performance, you may prefer one over the other depending on your priorities. Get the GE if you're looking for a simple but powerful microwave. It heats food faster, and you can start simple cooking tasks, like cooking at 100% power in one-minute increments, more easily. Choose the Samsung if you want a more high-tech option, or a microwave that can multitask. This model syncs with Wi-Fi-connected Samsung ranges, and you can also use it to air fry, convection cook, or steam, although we haven't tested those functions.

    LG MVEM1825F

    Track

The LG MVEM1825F is a better microwave than the Samsung Bespoke ME90H1780R for most households. They're both quiet over-the-range models with enough internal capacity for large dishes, like a casserole or mixing bowl. However, the LG offers better performance for everyday use. It's more powerful, so it heats faster, and you can start simple cooking programs, like cooking at 100% power for three minutes, with fewer button presses. That said, the Samsung offers a few extra features that might sway you. It can sync with Samsung ranges equipped with SmartThings, the brand's smart home ecosystem, so the hood light and fan start automatically when you use the range burners. It can also air fry, convection cook, and steam, so you may prefer it if you want a microwave that can multitask.

    GE JVM6175SKSS

    Track

The GE JVM6175SKSS and the Samsung Bespoke ME90H1780R are both large, quiet over-the-range models, and while the GE offers better overall performance, you may prefer either depending on what you're looking for. Choose the GE if you want a simple microwave that heats food quickly. It's also easier to start simple cooking programs, like cooking in one-minute increments at 100% power with the GE. Go for Samsung if you want a microwave that can air fry, convection cook, and steam. The Samsung also syncs with Wi-Fi-connected ranges from the brand, so the light and hood fan turn on automatically when you start cooking with the range.

    Samsung ME17R7021ES

    Track

The Samsung ME17R7021ES and the Samsung Bespoke ME90H1780R are both quiet, over-the-range models with plenty of internal capacity for large dishes, but they have different benefits to offer. Go for the ME17R7021ES if you're looking for a simple microwave without many extra features. It’s more powerful, so it cooks food a bit faster, and it's less expensive. Choose the Bespoke ME90H1780R if you want a connected, multitasking microwave. Beyond microwaving, it can air fry, convection cook, and steam, though we haven't tested these functions. This model also syncs to ranges equipped with Samsung's smart home ecosystem, SmartThings, so the hood fan and lights turn on automatically when you use your range.

As with the Samsung MS19DG8500SR, this model was unable to cook marshmallows thoroughly. This could be due to the placement of the marshmallows near the microwave floor, but we haven't been able to verify this hypothesis.
