The LG LW6023IVSM is a window-mounted A/C with an inverter compressor. It's intended for medium-sized spaces, with an advertised coverage of 250 ft² (23 m²). It's Wi-Fi-enabled, so you can set your desired temperature and fan speed using a smartphone app. It also supports Amazon Alexa and Google Home integration, so you can operate the unit via voice commands. If you'd rather not connect your A/C to the internet, you can also just operate the unit with the provided remote control.
Our Verdict
The LG LW6023IVSM is a great option for large rooms. Its cooling capacity is sufficient for most living rooms or dining areas, though it might struggle a little in especially big open-concept spaces. Thanks to its inverter compressor, it also runs impressively efficiently, so it won't have a massive impact on your utility bill, and does a great job of keeping temperature and humidity levels steady.
Cooling capacity is sufficient for larger rooms.
Impressive overall cooling efficiency.
Incredibly effective in maintaining desired ambient conditions.
The LG LW6023IVSM is a great option for bedrooms and other small areas. Thanks to its inverter compressor, it's remarkably effective in maintaining stable ambient conditions, so the air in your room will feel comfortably cool and dry as opposed to clammy and damp. It also runs very quietly, and likely won't wake you in the middle of the night even if you're a particularly light sleeper. On the downside, this is a pretty bulky and heavy appliance, which makes it very difficult to install or remove for the winter if you're doing so alone.
Impressive overall cooling efficiency.
Runs exceptionally quietly.
Incredibly effective in maintaining desired ambient conditions.
Bulky, heavy design makes installation and removal difficult.
The LG LW6023IVSM provides impressive cooling capacity. Its cooling output is more than sufficient for areas like bedrooms and home offices, and it's up to the task of handling typical living areas and kitchen or dining rooms. That said, you'll likely have to consider a higher-capacity model if you have a larger open-concept space to cool.
Cooling capacity is sufficient for larger rooms.
The LG LW6023IVSM's overall efficiency is great. Its inverter compressor and window-mounted design help minimize power consumption both when cooling an area and when keeping it at your desired temperature, as the unit doesn't have to cycle or offset compressor waste heat.
Impressive overall cooling efficiency.
The LG LW6023IVSM does a fantastic job of keeping ambient conditions steady. This unit's inverter compressor doesn't modulate very much once it reaches your desired temperature, which helps minimize any swings in temperature and humidity.
Incredibly effective in maintaining desired ambient conditions.
The LG LW6023IVSM is a very quiet A/C unit. It's quiet enough to fade into the background even if you have it set up in a bedroom, home office, or nursery.
Runs exceptionally quietly.
The LG LW6023IVSM is quite bulky. It's noticeably bulkier and heavier than many other units with even greater cooling capacity. Generally speaking, we'd recommend enlisting the help of a friend to install this unit in your window.
Bulky, heavy design makes installation and removal difficult.

Popular Air Conditioner Comparisons
The LG LW6023IVSM is a mid-range window-mounted A/C. It delivers performance that punches well above its advertised weight; despite being considered a 6,000 BTU/hr A/C by its manufacturer, its performance is very much in line with models like the 8,000 BTU/hr Friedrich Chill Premier Inverter CCV08A10A. Judged against the latter, the LG is fractionally faster to cool, but also a little bulkier. The LG can't quite keep up with even higher-capacity units like the 12,000 BTU/hr Midea MAW12HV1CWT or Midea U-Shaped MAW12V1QWT in terms of cooling performance, but it strikes a good compromise by doing a better job of maintaining ambient conditions inside your home.

The Midea U-Shaped MAW12V1QWT is a more capable A/C unit than the LG LW6023IVSM. The Midea provides a higher overall cooling capacity, so it's better-suited for use in larger open-concept areas. Beyond that, it's also slightly more power-efficient than the LG when cooling a space and when holding it at that temperature. The Midea's U-shaped design is a distinct advantage too, in that it allows you to open your window even with the unit installed, so you don't have to put up with that stuffy feeling that comes with window A/Cs. That said, the LG's compressor modulates slightly less than that of the Midea, meaning that it does a better job of maintaining your setpoint and ambient humidity levels.
The Midea MAW12HV1CWT is better than the LG LW6023IVSM. The Midea's greater cooling capacity gives it an edge when cooling larger spaces, and it's more efficient while running as well. Despite its greater overall cooling capacity, it's a little smaller and lighter than the LG, though it's still likely to be too much of a handful for one person to comfortably set up. With that said, it's worth noting that the LG is noticeably quieter at higher fan speeds and does a better job of maintaining your desired humidity and temperature levels.
Despite the difference in advertised capacity, the LG LW6023IVSM and Friedrich Chill Premier Inverter CCV08A10A are very evenly-matched A/C units. The LG will be slightly faster at cooling an equivalently sized room. That said, the Friedrich is a little smaller and lighter, though not by enough to make a big difference when installing it. It also features a quieter fan than the LG, which is especially noticeable when raising the fan speed on both units to their respective maximums.
Test Results
The LG LW6023IVSM's cooling capacity is impressive. It can operate effectively in large living rooms or combined kitchen and dining areas with little fuss, though it could struggle to quickly bring down the temperature in especially large open-concept areas.
Despite its advertised rating of 6,000 BTU/hr, its performance eclipses that, as its tested performance is in line with 8,000 BTU/hr models such as the Friedrich Chill Premier Inverter CCV08A10A. Just to confirm our own findings, we ran a second capacity test and recorded near-identical results.
This unit is impressively efficient when cooling a space. Its upfront energy cost is moderately high, but it's still a fairly efficient design overall, with no need to offset its own waste heat, as would be the case for a portable model with comparable capacity.
This unit delivers great efficiency when maintaining the desired temperature. Its inverter compressor modulates only slightly once the setpoint is reached, helping reduce spikes in power consumption
The LG LW6023IVSM is exceptionally effective at maintaining the desired setpoint. The modulations from its inverter compressor are minimal, and you shouldn't experience any noticeable swings in temperature once the setpoint is reached.
This unit does a fantastic job of maintaining a consistent humidity level. As mentioned earlier, its compressor doesn't modulate very much once the setpoint is reached, so you're very unlikely to notice any changes in humidity as the A/C is running.
This unit is reasonably feature-packed. There's Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing you to adjust cooling level and fan speeds or set operating schedules through a smartphone app. The app also features Amazon Alexa and Google Home integration for making voice commands.
There's also a dehumidification-only mode if you'd like to remove moisture from a room without cooling the air.
