The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro is a budget-friendly full-size blender. It comes with a 72oz main pitcher and a lid with a pouring spout. Its default blending mode, 'BlendSense', is advertised to detect what you're blending and adjust the blend speed and time accordingly, so it's a good choice if you like your blender to stop automatically. It doesn't come with additional jars or attachments, unlike the similar Ninja Detect Duo Power Blender Pro, which comes with a personal jar for single-serves.
The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro is okay for multi-purpose use. It's good at blending fibrous fruits and vegetables for recipes like smoothies and soups, whether you're working with small or big batches. It's easy to use for nut butter or hummus recipes and has no problem crushing ice cubes. However, it's not meant for hot blending. It's also on the loud side and isn't easy to clean by hand, especially if you're working with sticky ingredients.
The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro is good for single-serve smoothies. Unlike the similar Ninja Detect Duo Power Blender Pro, it doesn't come with a personal jar meant for single-serves, so you'll have to use the 72oz pitcher. Still, it does a good job of processing small batches of fibrous ingredients, so it can make a well-blended smoothie with fruit or leafy greens. It doesn't make a perfectly smooth blend, though.
The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro is excellent for multiple servings of smoothies. Its 72oz pitcher can fit several batches at once, and at full capacity, it does a very good job of blending fibrous smoothie ingredients like leafy greens and fruit. It has no problem crushing ice, either. The main pitcher can be difficult to clean by hand, but it's dishwasher-safe, along with the lid.
The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro is fantastic for crushing ice. Using its 72oz jar and the default 'BlendSense' program, it can crush big batches of ice cubes into snow-like ice in under a minute.
You can't use the Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro for hot blending, so you must let your ingredients cool down before blending. However, it has a 72oz capacity, so it can fit most recipes in one batch, and it can make a mostly smooth blend with fibrous ingredients like kale or broccoli.
The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro is good for professional use. It's well-built and has a big 72oz capacity. It does a good job of blending fibrous ingredients for recipes like smoothies, soups, and sauces and easily crushes big batches of ice for cocktails or blended drinks like slushes. However, it's not the most versatile. It can't hot blend and doesn't have a big range of speed settings. It can make fantastic nut butter, but it takes a while, so it's not ideal if you make a lot of thick recipes.
The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro comes in 'Silver', and you can see the label for the unit we tested here. We've also tested the Ninja Detect Duo Power Blender Pro, which is a similar blender that comes with a personal jar and a 72oz pitcher. However, that blender's motor base is different, and this non-Duo variant isn't compatible with the personal jar even if you buy it separately.
If you encounter another variant, let us know in the forums, and we'll update our review.
The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro is a budget-friendly full-size blender. Unlike some similarly-priced blenders, including the Ninja Professional Blender 1000 and the Ninja Professional Blender NJ601AMZ, you can use its 'BlendSense' feature for automatic blending, so the blender will decide how long to blend your ingredients and stop when it's done. Like most full-size blenders from Ninja, it's fantastic for crushing ice. It also does a good job of blending fibrous ingredients. However, it only comes with a 72oz main pitcher, so if you're looking for a blender for single-serve smoothies, you might prefer one that comes with a personal jar, like the very similar Ninja Detect Duo Power Blender Pro, the Oster Pro 1200, or the Calphalon ActiveSense.

The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro and the Ninja Detect Kitchen System Power Blender are similar full-size blenders. The biggest difference is that the Kitchen System comes with a separate 64oz food processor with its own blade assembly and lid, as well as a 24oz personal jar for single-serve blends. It's also a bit bigger and heavier. Otherwise, both have a 'BlendSense' feature that detects the ingredients in the jar and adjusts the blender's performance accordingly. Both come with 72oz main pitchers that perform similarly for most recipes. Using its personal jar, the Detect makes a smoother blend with small batches of fibrous ingredients, so it's a better option if you plan to blend single-serve smoothies.
The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro is better than the Ninja Professional Plus Blender with Auto-iQ for most uses. It makes a smoother blend with fibrous ingredients, whether you're working with small batches or filling the jar to full capacity. It's also easier to use for recipes like nut butter since you don't have to stop the blender to stir. They're both fantastic for crushing ice, and the Professional is quieter and sturdier.
The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro is better than the Ninja Professional Blender 1000. They come with similar 72oz jars, but the Detect makes a smoother blend with fibrous ingredients more quickly. It's easier to use for nut butter since you don't have to stop and stir. Its 'BlendSense' mode acts as an automatic blending program that stops automatically when your recipe is done, while the Professional only has manual blending modes. However, the Professional is much quieter.
The Calphalon ActiveSense is better than the Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro for most uses. The Calphalon makes a smoother blend with fibrous ingredients, so it can make silkier smoothies, soups, and sauces. It comes with a personal jar that you can use for single-serve smoothies and protein shakes. It's also easier to clean by hand. However, the Ninja is much easier to use for recipes like nut butter and hummus since you don't need to remove the lid to stir during the process.
The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro is better than the Ninja Professional Blender NJ601AMZ. It has a better build quality and blending performance. It makes a smoother blend with fibrous ingredients in less time, so it's better for recipes like smoothies, and it's also easier to use to make thicker recipes like nut butter. Unlike the Professional, its 'BlendSense' mode acts as an automatic blending program that allows the blender to stop on its own when your recipe is done.
The Ninja Detect Power Blender Pro is a big, full-size blender. It's about the same size as the Ninja Detect Duo Power Blender Pro, and you'll probably want to keep it on your counter rather than in a cupboard or on a shelf.
It's well-built. The jar and blades feel well-made, and the buttons on the front of the motor base are clicky and responsive. A couple of suction cups under the motor base help keep it in place on your counter. However, it's made of plastic with a soft, non-premium feel. The dial is easy to turn but feels a bit wobbly and cheap, as you can see in a video here.
The pitcher has a 72oz overall capacity, with a 64oz max liquid capacity. Unlike some similar models, like the Ninja Deluxe Kitchen System, it doesn't come with extra attachments like a personal jar or food processor.
It's good for small baches of fibrous ingredients. If you're making something like a single-serve kale smoothie, it'll only have some very small, uniform grains left over. It doesn't take very long overall, but the default 'BlendSense' program isn't enough to get the best results, and you have to run a few 60-second programs at the maximum speed setting.
It's good at blending fibrous ingredients at full capacity. You have to follow the 'BlendSense' program with a few minutes of manual blending on high (setting 10), but overall, it's easy to use to blend multiple servings of kale smoothies or broccoli soup. However, it's not as fast as some blenders and doesn't make a perfectly smooth blend.
It's fantastic for making nut butter. If you use the default BlendSense program, you have to follow it with a few minutes of blending on low and then medium speeds, but you don't have to intervene with a spoon or spatula, so it's an easy process. The result is very smooth, spreadable nut butter.
It's quite loud, so the noise will be irritating if you're using it for several minutes in a row. However, it's not as loud as some blenders, like the Ninja Foodi Power Blender & Processor System.
This blender doesn't have a huge range of speed settings. The maximum speed is quite slow compared to most full-size blenders. Slower speeds can be useful for thicker mixtures, but faster speeds are better for smoothly blending fibrous ingredients. Unlike the similar Ninja Detect Duo Power Blender Pro, it doesn't have a second set of gears to provide faster blending speeds with a personal jar.
The default blending mode is 'BlendSense', which the manufacturer says allows it to detect what you're blending and adjust the blender's speed and the blending time accordingly. The dial lights up as it's 'detecting', then displays how much time is left in the blending cycle.
The speed dial also has ten settings for manual blending. Using the manual blending mode, it runs for 60 seconds at the selected speed before stopping automatically. There's also a dedicated button for pulse mode, which can be useful for breaking up big chunks of ingredients like ice cubes or frozen fruit. There are three blending programs for different purposes:
It's not easy to clean by hand because of the blade assembly, which is a column with very sharp blades attached. You have to be very careful not to cut yourself when handling it. A hole on the bottom of the assembly where it connects with the jar also traps food, and you'll need the help of a brush or similar tool to clean it properly. As with all blenders, it's easier to clean when working with liquid ingredients.
