The Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete is an okay choice for multi-surface households, though it's not particularly impressive on hard floors and may require a follow-up with a standard vacuum. It's a better fit if your priority is carpet cleaning, because it performs noticeably better on carpet than on bare floors. It handles obstacles like furniture, cords, and clutter well as it navigates, and the multi-function dock takes care of most day-to-day maintenance on its own. While it lifts some pet hair from carpets, it won't do a thorough enough job to completely replace manual vacuuming. You also won't be wowed by its stain removal capabilities.

It's also quiet enough not to bother nervous pets. The dock handles daily maintenance, emptying the onboard dustbin and washing the mop pads for you. That said, it's not the best choice if your pets are heavy shedders and you have lots of rugs or carpeting in your home. While it can lift some pet hair from carpets, it can't remove it all in a single pass, so you may find yourself having to clean manually every now and then.

The retractable LiDAR sensor is also worth watching over time, since debris could eventually work its way into the gap around it.

This robot vacuum is somewhat tiresome to maintain. There's a long list of parts to keep up with, but most are easy to access, and the dock handles a lot of the routine work for you.
You can remove the brushroll, dirt compartment, and filter easily, though emptying the dirt compartment means removing the filter first, which releases a cloud of dust. You'll need a screwdriver to remove the side brush, and you'll need to manually raise the LiDAR sensor before wiping it down, since it retracts when the robot vacuum is docked.
The dirt bags are simple to swap out, and the water tanks are easy to refill, though the used water tank can develop an unpleasant odor if you don't clean it regularly, and you'll have to descale the heating module with white vinegar every six months.

The hard floor debris pickup isn't particularly impressive using Standard suction, Standard pathing, with Large Particles Boost, and Proactive-Light Dirt Detection turned on. While it does a good job with larger debris, it leaves a notable amount of fine and medium-sized debris behind. One quirk worth flagging: it turns off its side brush while cleaning an area it has flagged as heavily soiled, which is counterproductive in the exact situations where extra edge agitation would be needed.
Despite having higher suction than its predecessor, the Dreame X50 Ultra, the X60 doesn't show much improvement. Because of that, we tried several different setups to see whether adjusting the settings would result in better performance.

Noise levels are very good overall, though what you'll actually notice most isn't the suction motor; it's the side brush. The suction motor stays fairly quiet on its own, but the side brush spins with a higher-pitched whir that ends up standing out more than the suction itself while it cleans. On carpet, overall noise drops off noticeably, and running at lower suction levels keeps things quieter on both bare floors and carpets. The dock's self-empty cycle is one of the quietest we've tested at 64.9 dBA, so emptying the dustbin shouldn't be a jarring interruption if you're nearby when it happens.

Household adaptability is great. It avoids mirrors and other reflective surfaces entirely and cleans around and underneath chairs adeptly. It returns later in the cleaning cycle to properly clean underneath low tables by retracting its LiDAR turret.
The main weak point is rugs with tassels: even with Proactive-Light Dirt Detection turned on, which is advertised to help spot tassels, it makes little difference in practice, and the brushroll still gets tangled, requiring you to step in and free it. It also might nudge slim, lightweight items like floor lamps.

Obstacle avoidance is good overall, with the robot vacuum using a combination of AI-powered cameras, dot projection, and light-based detection to identify objects in its path. It does a much better job on bare floors than on carpet, avoiding most obstacles without needing you to step in. On carpet, you'll need to step in to intervene more often. It also reliably avoids pet waste, so accidents are unlikely to create an even bigger mess.
Turning on Proactive-Light Dirt Detection helps on carpet, but it can backfire on hard floors, especially if you have shiny or reflective flooring. Light reflecting off the surface can cause the robot vacuum to mistake reflections for wet spills and steer around them, leading it to avoid phantom messes rather than the real objects nearby.

This robot vacuum can climb very tall thresholds, thanks to a chassis-lifting system that lifts it up and over raised transitions between rooms. Unfortunately, it won't cross tall thresholds automatically, so you'll need to manually mark them on the map before it will climb over them on its own.

This robot vacuum does a sub-par job of removing dried stains, and it doesn't improve much, no matter how you set it up. A first pass leaves visible residue behind when using the highest Water Level, with Mop Pressure set to Normal (the highest available), Deep pathing, and both Stain Detection and Proactive-Light Dirt Detection turned on. A second pass only clears a bit more of it.
We also tried a few other configurations to see if anything would meaningfully change the outcome. Running the thermal mop pads without Proactive-Light Dirt Detection left similar residue, even after a second pass. Testing against a lighter stain produced similar results, with a second pass still leaving noticeable marks. Swapping in the regular mop pads didn't change the outcome either, with a second pass still leaving residue behind.
Part of the issue may come down to the dock's washing performance. Dreame advertises that the water heats up to 212 °F (100 °C) for washing the mop pads, but measuring the water directly under the mop pad and near the drainage shows that it falls well short of that. You can see the difference this makes on the pads before and after a wash cycle, where some residue remains rather than fully lifting off. A Reddit user raised the same concern about the water not reaching its advertised temperature, citing another reviewer's testing, which yielded similar results.
The physical controls are pretty basic: the two onboard buttons only let you send it back to the dock or start and stop cleaning, so you'll need the app for scheduling, zone control, or any of the more advanced settings.

The Dreame app experience is fantastic, offering all the features you'd expect from a high-end robot vacuum. You can turn on Hair Compression in the auto-empty dustbag to fit more debris before it fills up, use High-temperature Soaking for hot water mopping, activate Pressurize Cleaning to engage the pressure plate for deeper carpet contact while vacuuming, and enable Lifting Chassis to Clean Carpet so the robot vacuum automatically adjusts its height to match the carpet pile for better brushroll contact. You can also turn on Proactive-Light Dirt Detection for improved stain and obstacle detection, cap the charge limit at 80% or 90% to help preserve battery lifespan, switch on a power-saving mode that scales back runtime, suction, and lighting, and manually mark low-clearance areas on the map.
One thing to note is that the number of ads within the app may be irritating.
