The Bosch 100 Series B36FD10ENS is an upper mid-range standard-depth 36-inch French door refrigerator. It sits at the base of Bosch's lineup of consumer fridges, below the similarly designed Bosch 500 Series B36FD52SNS and ultra high-end Bosch 800 Series B36CT80SNS. This unit features an in-fridge ice maker, a water and ice dispenser with an ice-crush function built into its fridge door, and a trio of split shelves. Its cooling system is similar to the aforementioned Bosch 500 Series, with an inverter-controlled compressor and a single evaporator in the freezer. It also has the brand's 'MultiAirFlow' system, which consists of a series of vents that are meant to evenly distribute cold air throughout the cabinet.

How We Test Refrigerators
How We Test Refrigerators

We've tested over 35 refrigerators. We purchase ourselves each unit independently from major retailers, just like you, to keep our reviews free of brand influence. Each refrigerator undergoes the same tests to measure objective metrics such as temperature uniformity, ice making, produce preservation, parts availability, and actual storage capacity, so you can easily compare results.

Our Verdict

0.0
Everyday Use

The Bosch 100 Series B36FD10ENS is a satisfactory option for everyday use. It offers enough interior capacity within the fridge and freezer compartments for bigger families, with wide, deep split shelving and high-capacity door bins. Temperatures are also generally consistent throughout the main cabinet, though the door bins are best used for storing less temperature-sensitive items. Unfortunately, it doesn't do an especially good job of retaining moisture in its crisper drawers, and as a result, you'll start seeing wilting in delicate produce more quickly than you'd expect.

Pros
  • Impressive overall capacity in fridge compartment.

  • Excellent temperature uniformity in freezer.

  • Good freezer storage capacity.

Cons
  • Crisper drawers do little to seal in moisture.

  • Refrigerator door bins and upper shelf are a few degrees warmer than the rest of the cabinet.

0.0
Produce Preservation

The Bosch 100 Series B36FD10ENS's produce preservation performance is mediocre. Its crisper drawers aren't sealed especially tightly, making them relatively dry environments for storing fresh produce, as is the main fridge cabinet. As a result, delicate greens like lettuce and spinach will lose their moisture quickly, and you'll begin to see wilting faster than you'd expect for a fridge of this type.

Pros
Cons
  • Crisper drawers do little to seal in moisture.

0.0
Refrigerator Capacity

The Bosch 100 Series B36FD10ENS has impressive storage capacity in its main fridge cabinet. There's enough room for a whole host of bulky items, ranging from casserole dishes to cake pans. The crisper drawers are deep and tall enough to fit bigger fruits like pomegranates or oranges, and the deli drawer will accommodate wedges of cheese or packs of deli meat without too much trouble.

Pros
  • Impressive overall capacity in fridge compartment.

Cons
0.0
Freezer Capacity

The Bosch 100 Series B36FD10ENS has good capacity inside its freezer. The lower bins have sufficient capacity to fit family-sized packs of frozen meals. Since there's no in-freezer ice maker, you can also use the entirety of the full-width upper drawer for smaller items like bags of frozen fruit or veggies, smaller meal prep containers, and cans of juice concentrate, though this upper drawer is a little short in terms of height.

Pros
  • Good freezer storage capacity.

Cons
0.0
Temperature Uniformity

The Bosch 100 Series B36FD10ENS's temperature uniformity is very good. Temperatures in the main fridge cabinet are fairly consistent, barring the slightly warmer upper shelf. The door bins also tend to be a few degrees warmer than the rest of the compartment and should be used for chilling foodstuffs and drinks that aren't especially temperature sensitive, like unopened juice cartons or soda. Temperatures within the freezer are very uniform, and items left inside will be cooled to a similar degree over time.

Pros
  • Excellent temperature uniformity in freezer.

Cons
  • Refrigerator door bins and upper shelf are a few degrees warmer than the rest of the cabinet.

Ice Making

The Bosch 100 Series B36FD10ENS's ice-making capability is decent overall. It can make enough ice in a 24-hour period for a small family dinner, but you're likely to run out of ice, even with the tray filled to capacity, for any gathering larger than that.

Pros
Cons
  • Ice making capacity is really only sufficient for smaller gatherings.

    Popular Refrigerator Comparisons

The Bosch 100 Series B36FD10ENS is an upper mid-range French door fridge. It's the baby of Bosch's lineup, which still puts it in a fairly high price bracket in the grand scheme of things and in something of an awkward spot in terms of market positioning. It faces competition from the premium sub-brands of more mainstream manufacturers, including those from GE's Profile lineup, such as the GE Profile PGE29BYTFS. The latter offers goodies like a separate climate-controlled drawer and a significantly greater ice-making capacity. Unlike the Bosch, it also has a dual-evaporator cooling system: while it doesn't yield the expected benefits to produce preservation in that fridge, it should still limit odor transference across the freezer and fridge compartments. Next to the pricier middle-child Bosch 500 Series B36FD52SNS, the 100 Series has much worse produce preservation performance, the result of its more basic, poorly sealed crisper drawers, though it's otherwise similarly designed. If you're not too fussed about its mediocre performance in that one respect, it's a fairly well-rounded unit, with a high-capacity interior.

    Maytag MRFF4236RZ

    Track

The Maytag MRFF4236RZ is a better-performing fridge than the Bosch 100 Series B36FD10ENS. The Maytag provides superior temperature uniformity in both the fridge and freezer cabinets, and it does a better job of keeping delicate produce, such as celery, spinach, or lettuce, crisp and fresh when stored in its crisper drawers. However, the Bosch does provide more room inside its refrigerator and freezer compartments, making it easier to fit bulky items. Unlike the Maytag, it also has an in-door water and ice dispenser. While the latter is a boon for convenience, it is worth noting that ice makers are traditionally one of the first components to fail in modern fridges. The Maytag's freezer-mounted ice maker presents fewer failure points, as there's no need for the fridge to maintain a stable, independent freezing microclimate to create ice.

    LG LF29H8330S

    Track

The Bosch 100 Series B36FD10ENS and LG LF29H8330S each have their own strengths. The LG's temperature-adjustable drawer can make it easier to organize your groceries, whether those be for the fridge or freezer. Its in-door ice maker frees up more room in the refrigerator cabinet next to the Bosch's more conventional in-fridge setup. The LG also does a better job of maintaining consistent temperatures across its fridge shelves, though admittedly, the Bosch has a less severe temperature across its doors. The Bosch's more conventional design results in a roomier freezer cabinet, and it does a marginally better job of keeping fresh produce crisp, though it still doesn't do that well in that regard. While part availability for the 100 Series B36FD10ENS isn't stellar, Bosch's network of authorized service providers is more robust than that of LG.

    LG LF30S8210S

    Track

The LG LF30S8210S is better than the Bosch 100 Series B36FD10ENS. The LG has a roomier fridge cabinet and a similarly big freezer, and its temperature-adjustable drawer can make it easier to organize your groceries in either cabinet. The LG also does a better job of maintaining consistent temperatures across its fridge shelves, though the Bosch's door bins are slightly more uniform in temperature. The LG also lacks the Bosch in-door water and ice dispenser, freeing up fridge space and eliminating a potentially costly point of failure. Part availability for the LG is less erratic than it is for the Bosch, though Bosch's network of authorized service providers has a longer reach than that of LG.
