The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL is a 36-inch counter-depth French door refrigerator. It's effectively a counter-depth version of the Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6200QL, but has an otherwise similar interior layout, with twin pantry drawers, twin crisper drawers, along with a pair of split shelves. It does differ slightly from its larger sibling with the inclusion of Samsung's 'Beverage Center', which adds onto the latter's automatically-filling pitcher with an additional paddle-activated water dispenser for filling glasses without removing the pitcher. It shares most of the latter's internals, with a cooling system comprising dual evaporators and an inverter-controlled compressor. There are also a pair of ice makers inside the freezer, one for standard-size cubes and the other for smaller pebbled ice.

How We Test Refrigerators
How We Test Refrigerators

We've recently started testing refrigerators. We independently purchase each unit from major retailers, just like you, to keep our reviews free from manufacturer influence. Each refrigerator goes through the same tests to measure objective data for metrics like temperature uniformity, produce preservation, and actual storage capacity so you can easily compare the results.

Our Verdict

7.7
Everyday Use

The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL is good for everyday use. It offers good capacity for a counter-depth refrigerator and features a multitude of storage solutions to keep groceries organized. That said, the refrigerator cabinet doesn't offer much space to fit very tall items, such as narrow-necked bottles. Its freezer is also very shallow and doesn't offer much room to fit bulkier boxes. On the upside, the RF24BB6600QL does a good job of maintaining consistent temperatures in the freezer and fridge, with the slight exception of the warmer-than-average door bins in the latter compartment.

Pros
  • Refrigerator cabinet includes a multitude of storage options for smaller items.

  • Temperatures don't vary drastically from top to bottom shelf in refrigerator cabinet.

  • Impressive temperature uniformity in freezer.

  • Great overall produce preservation performance.

Cons
  • Shallow refrigerator cabinet.

  • Freezer cabinet is very shallow.

  • Slightly warmer-than-average door bins.

8.3
Produce Preservation

The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL's produce preservation performance is great. Its dual-evaporator design helps maintain a relatively humid environment in the main fridge compartment, and its well-sealing crisper drawers are effective in minimizing moisture loss from fresh produce stored inside.

Pros
  • Twin-evaporator design helps maintain a more humid environment inside fridge.

  • Well-sealing crisper drawers.

Cons
None
7.6
Refrigerator Capacity

The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL provides a good amount of storage capacity in its refrigerator cabinet. The space is shallow but well-organized, with separate pairs of drawers for storing fresh produce and items like deli meats or cheeses. This quartet of drawers does result in a slightly short fridge cabinet, which can make it a bit of a challenge to fit taller items, especially considering there are only two movable shelves in this compartment. The refrigerator's 'Beverage Center' does free up a bit of space by allowing you to move some canned drinks outside the main fridge cabinet, but it does curtail in-door storage slightly.

Pros
  • Refrigerator cabinet includes a multitude of storage options for smaller items.

Cons
  • Shallow refrigerator cabinet.

6.0
Freezer Capacity

The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL's freezer capacity is mediocre. The space is simply very shallow, giving you little room to fit bulkier boxed items like family-sized packs of chicken, fish, frozen pizza, or simply even larger Tupperware containers. The ice tray also occupies a significant amount of space in the upper half of the freezer compartment, and even with it removed, the top drawer is primarily intended for compact frozen goods, such as smaller bags of frozen vegetables or single-serving meal prep containers.

Pros
None
Cons
  • Freezer cabinet is very shallow.

  • Ice tray takes up a lot of room on upper freezer shelf.

7.7
Temperature Uniformity

The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL's temperature uniformity performance is good. Temperatures don't vary significantly from the top to the bottom of the fridge cabinet, so you can unpack groceries wherever is most convenient for you. That said, the door bins are slightly warmer than the main body of the fridge, with the middle and lower bins being best suited for chilling less temperature-sensitive drinks and condiments. Performance is uniformly great in the freezer; however, there are no relatively warm or cool spots in the compartment. The fridge's inverter-controlled compressor also helps minimize temperature swings as it maintains the desired setpoint.

Pros
  • Temperatures don't vary drastically from top to bottom shelf in refrigerator cabinet.

  • Impressive temperature uniformity in freezer.

Cons
  • Slightly warmer-than-average door bins.

7.9
Ice Making

The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL is a very good option for making ice. It features twin twist-tray ice makers for making full-size ice cubes and smaller 'Ice Bites' (or pebbled ice) for cooling drinks a little faster. This setup allows it to produce a relatively large amount of ice in a 24-hour period, more than enough for a small family dinner. The refrigerator's counter-depth design results in a slightly shallower ice tray than its standard-depth counterparts, but with it filled, it should hold enough ice for a moderately sized gathering.

Pros
  • Dual ice makers result in a high ice production rate.

  • Reasonably large ice tray.

Cons
None

    Differences Between Sizes And Variants

Samsung's lineup of Bespoke fridges is enormous, and runs the gamut of design types, from full-depth French door models to counter-depth side-by-sides. While most models share similar internals, we can't guarantee that they'll perform similarly due to large differences in their physical design.

    Popular Refrigerator Comparisons

The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL is a 36-inch counter-depth French door refrigerator. Unsurprisingly, it performs mostly like the standard-depth Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6200QL: the two units share similar internals, with both delivering above average produce preservation performance and generally good temperature uniformity. That said, the RF24BB6600QL's counter-depth design seriously cuts down on available freezer space, not only compared to the larger RF30BB6200QL, but also counter-depth alternatives with standout capacity, like the LG LRFLC2706S and related LG STUDIO SRFB27W3. Its in-door 'Beverage Center' may also be a contributing factor in its slightly warmer-than-baseline door bins.

If you're interested in alternatives, see our recommendations for the best refrigerators, the best counter-depth refrigerators, and the best French-door refrigerators.

    LG LRFLC2706S

The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL and LG LRFLC2706S each have their own strengths and weaknesses. The Samsung's dual-evaporator design results in noticeably better produce preservation performance, but the LG does a better job of maintaining uniform temperatures throughout the fridge and freezer cabinets. W

hile the Samsung lacks the LG's door-cooling vent, it's important to note that the latter feature only impacts the LG's right door, leaving the left door with as severe a door bin temperature offset as the Samsung. The two fridges offer similar refrigerator capacity, though the LG's fridge cabinet space is a little more flexible, with an additional pair of split shelves and slightly more vertical space for fitting taller items. The LG also has a much more capacious freezer.

    Bosch 800 Series B36CT80SNS

The Bosch 800 Series B36CT80SNS is a better-performing 36-inch counter-depth French-door refrigerator than the Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL. The Bosch's dual compressor design helps provide even better temperature uniformity across the fridge and freezer cabinets, and its produce drawers seal even tighter, resulting in slightly better produce preservation performance. That said, the Samsung does maintain a more humid environment inside the main fridge cabinet, and produce won't wilt quite as fast when stored outside the crisper drawers. The Samsung's fridge cabinet also offers a little more room, though the Bosch's additional drawer in the freezer makes the space a little more practical than that of the Samsung. Despite having two ice makers compared to the Bosch's one, the latter fridge is capable of producing nearly as much ice in a 24-hour period, with the added benefit of less mechanical complexity.

    Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6200QL

The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL and Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6200QL are similarly designed French-door refrigerators, but fulfill different needs, given their difference in sizing. The RF30BB6200QL is a standard-depth unit that offers increased capacity, particularly in its freezer compartment, making it a more suitable option for larger families. Meanwhile, the RF24BB6600QL counter-depth sizing is designed to appeal to those who want a near-flush fit inside their kitchens and don't mind the reduction in capacity. The RF24BB6600QL's in-door 'Beverage Center' also helps keep cans and bottles organized, but plays a small part in its somewhat high door bin temperature offset.

    KitchenAid KRQC506MPS

The KitchenAid KRQC506MPS and Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL are differently-designed 36-inch counter-depth fridges, with the former being a four-door model and the latter being a French-door unit. The KitchenAid has a smaller refrigerator cabinet, but offers more total space in its freezer cabinets, though it is worth noting that these compartments are partitioned, which makes it harder to fit really large boxed items. The KitchenAid also does a better job of maintaining uniform temperatures in its freezer and fridge cabinets, especially in the latter compartment's door bins. That said, the Samsung's dual-evaporator design results in noticeably better produce preservation performance, so delicate greens like lettuce or celery will last longer.

Like most other fridges in Samsung's Bespoke lineup, you can change the appearance of this fridge by swapping out the refrigerator and freezer door panels. There are seven glass panel colors and four different steel finishes to choose from.

If you'd like a preview of what some of those panels would look like in the real world, you can also use Samsung's Bespoke Kitchen Design Studio configurator. However, note that not all finishes can be viewed with this tool.

The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL's refrigerator storage capacity is good, especially for a counter-depth model. While its interior capacity is roughly 20% less than that of the standard-depth Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6200QL, it still comfortably exceeds other 36-inch counter-depth units like the Whirlpool WRQA59CNKZ in this regard. Still, the space itself is a little shallow, so you may need to adjust some items when storing deeper casserole dishes or other long containers. The pantry drawers can help keep things organized, but they also take up a fair amount of vertical space: even with the split middle shelves at their highest setting, you'll likely need to lay taller items flat.

Unlike the Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6200QL, this unit has an additional storage compartment built into its left door, large enough for several canned drinks. The lower half of this compartment houses an auto-filling water pitcher and a separate water dispenser. All this hardware does cut down on inner door space, however, and the left door is really only suitable for fitting smaller items. Conversely, the right door has deeper door bins suitable for fitting bulky items like gallon-sized milk jugs or juice cartons.

    Advertised Freezer Volume
    6.8 cu. ft. (192.6 L)
    Usable Freezer Volume
    2.7 cu. ft. (77.3 L)

Freezer storage capacity is mediocre. The entire freezer cabinet is quite shallow, and fitting larger boxed items, like family-sized packs of frozen chicken or fish, will present a challenge. The high-capacity ice tray isn't a help in this regard either, as it takes up roughly half the space in the already small upper drawer. Removing the ice tray increases the freezer's total usable capacity to 3.48 cu. ft. (98.6 L), a notable increase that makes the entire space more usable for bigger families.

    Cooling System
    Evaporator Configuration
    Dual Evaporator
    Compressor Configuration
    Single Compressor

    Inverter

The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL has the same cooling system as the Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6200QL. Its inverter-style compressor provides superior on-paper energy efficiency and temperature control versus a simpler fixed-speed component, which needs to cycle on and off to maintain a setpoint instead of being able to operate at a lower speed continuously. That said, inverter-controlled compressors do have an additional point of failure in their inverter control boards.

This refrigerator also has a twin-evaporator design, with separate coils in the refrigerator and freezer compartments. This setup allows for more precise humidity control within each of the two compartments: low humidity in the freezer to prevent frost buildup, and high humidity in the fridge to extend the lifespan of delicate produce. As an added benefit, this design eliminates odor transference from fridge to freezer.

    Ice Maker Type
    Twist-Tray

This fridge has a pair of twist-tray ice makers, one for making larger cubes and the other for producing smaller 'Ice Bites'. Twist-tray ice makers can fail over time, as the plastic mold used to form the ice is rendered brittle from the constant below-zero temperatures and mechanical stress, but at the very least, these ice trays are of a very simple design and can be accessed quickly.

These ice makers are also located in the freezer, which is generally preferable as far placement goes, since the fridge doesn't have to maintain an independent microclimate to promote ice formation.

    Water Dispenser
    Water Dispenser
    Door-In-Door

Like the Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6200QL, this refrigerator features Samsung's Autofill pitcher, which, as the name implies, automatically refills when the door is closed and the pitcher is empty. This pitcher is made of BPA-free plastic, and has a capacity of 1.4 L. Beyond that, there's a removable infuser, which allows you to throw in fruit wheels to give your water a bit of added flavor. Where the RF24BB6600QL differs from the RF30BB6200QL is in the inclusion of a paddle-activated water dispenser, allowing you to fill a glass without needing to remove the pitcher.

    Refrigerator Shelf Gradient
    3.0 °F (1.7 °C)
    Door Bin Offset
    3.1 °F (1.7 °C)

Temperature uniformity within the fridge itself is decent. There isn't too big a discrepancy from the top to bottom shelf, so you don't have to be too discriminate when unpacking your groceries in the main body of the fridge. The same can't be said for the doors, where the lower and middle door bins are a few degrees warmer and should mainly be used for chilling less temperature-sensitive items. This could be a result of the door housing the fridge's 'Beverage Center', which introduces more gaskets and seals, as well as a thinner outer door that doesn't insulate as effectively.

    8.2
    Freezer Temperature Uniformity
    See details on graph tool
    Freezer Gradient
    3.8 °F (2.1 °C)

This refrigerator's freezer compartment exhibits great temperature uniformity. There's little difference between the top and bottom of the cabinet as far as temperatures go, so you can leave items like ice cream on the top cabinet or bottom cabinet without worrying that they'll either soften or freeze to a rock-like consistency.

One minor note: like other Samsung fridges, including the closely related Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6200QL, the Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL drops the temperature in its freezer by a few degrees below 0 °F to hasten ice production. That said, unlike the RF30BB6200QL, the RF24BB6600QL increases freezer temperatures to hover around 0 °F once ice formation has occurred. In any case, this behavior is unlikely to have much of an impact on frozen food in the short term, though temperature inconsistencies like this can have an effect on food stored in a freezer for a year or two.

This refrigerator does a great job of preserving delicate produce. The crisper drawers have a reasonably tight seal to help prevent massive moisture loss from greens like celery and lettuce: they should remain crisp and fresh for well over a week. Furthermore, the dual evaporator design helps the RF24BB6600QL maintain a relatively humid environment inside the main refrigerator cabinet, which can help minimize wilting and browning even when produce is stored outside of the crisper drawer.

    Ice Maker Rate
    24-Hour Ice Production
    1,568 g (3.46 lbs)

The Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6200QL's ice production rate is great. This isn't too surprising, as the fridge has two ice makers. You have the choice between smaller ice nuggets, designed for faster cooling and greater dilution in drinks, or more conventionally sized cubes for slower, more gradual dilution.

    8.0
    Ice Maker Capacity
    Max Ice Maker Capacity2,895 g (6.38 lbs)

The Samsung RF24BB6600QL's ice tray is impressively large. The tray is a little shorter than that of the Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6200QL, a natural result of its counter-depth size. Still, at over six pounds with a full yield, you should have enough ice to serve drinks at a moderately large gathering, at least as long as you don't mind mixing ice types. For those interested in a more thorough breakdown of ice quantities:

Note: The high sensitivity of our test scale makes it difficult to obtain consistent measurements at a really granular scale: the combined weights of both ice types put together total 2,902 g (6.40 lbs), a hair more than the measured combined total of 2,895 g (6.38 lbs).
