The Samsung Bespoke RM80F23VMR is an upper mid-range counter-depth 4-door refrigerator. It's pretty full-featured, with an in-door Beverage Center that integrates a water dispenser and auto-filling pitcher, along with a storage nook for storing drinks. There's also a pair of ice makers for producing standard and larger sphere-shaped ice, and Wi-Fi connectivity that allows you to change or monitor fridge and freezer temperatures through your smartphone. Beyond that, Samsung also boasts that its AI Precise Cooling system can reduce temperature fluctuations in the fridge cabinet while running a defrost cycle by analyzing your usage habits.
We've recently started testing refrigerators. We independently purchase each unit from major retailers, just like you, to keep our reviews free from manufacturer influence. Each refrigerator goes through the same tests to measure objective data for metrics like temperature uniformity, produce preservation, and actual storage capacity so you can easily compare the results.

Our Verdict
The Samsung Bespoke RM80F23VMR is good for everyday use. Unsurprisingly for a counter-depth unit, both the fridge and freezer cabinets are shallow. That said, they both make pretty good use of the space that's on offer, with convenient touches that can make it a little easier to fit bigger items, with things like pull-out drawers and slide-away shelves. In terms of performance, temperatures are consistent in the freezer and fridge, though it's worth noting that the upper door bins do get very cold. Produce with a high moisture content, like spinach or celery, will keep for well over a week when placed in the crisper drawer, but will begin to wilt quickly when left outside due to the dry fridge environment.
Good moisture retention inside crisper drawers.
Pull-out drawers help to organize smaller items in freezer.
Beverage Center keeps drinks from cluttering main cabinet.
Fridge cabinet is shallow.
Split freezer cabinets can make it hard to fit wider items.
The Samsung Bespoke RM80F23VMR provides good produce preservation performance. This is a single-evaporator fridge, so the main fridge cabinet is quite dry, and produce with a high moisture content, like lettuce, will begin wilting quickly. However, the crisper drawers seal quite tightly, and the same produce left inside those spaces will last for considerably longer.
Good moisture retention inside crisper drawers.
Single evaporator design results in dry fridge environment.
The Samsung Bespoke RM80F23VMR's refrigerator capacity is decent. The fridge cabinet is shallow, which can make it a challenge to fit really large items like casserole dishes. That said, there are some thoughtful touches that free up some precious space. The slide-away shelves allow you to fit taller bottles near the front of the cabinet, and the Beverage Center system keeps things like canned drinks out of the way and eliminates the need for a water pitcher taking up space, since the fridge comes with its own water pitcher.
Beverage Center keeps drinks from cluttering main cabinet.
Fridge cabinet is shallow.
The Samsung Bespoke RM80F23VMR provides very good capacity in its freezer, with caveats. The space isn't all that large, and the split nature of the freezer cabinets can make it hard to fit really wide items. That said, the pull-out drawers and bins make it very easy to keep your groceries or meal-prep containers organized and easily accessible.
Pull-out drawers help to organize smaller items in freezer.
Split freezer cabinets can make it hard to fit wider items.
The Samsung Bespoke RM80F23VMR's temperature uniformity performance is excellent. There's little variance in temperature inside the fridge cabinet, so you don't have to be overly particular when placing temperature-sensitive foodstuffs like yogurt or cream. That said, the upper door bins in the fridge can get quite cold due to the nearby placement of the cooling vent, as well as the Peltier element built into the top of the fridge. Freezer temperatures are also very consistent; just note that temperatures do drop by a couple of degrees periodically to help hasten the ice-making process.
Consistent temperatures in main fridge cabinet.
Temperatures in freezer are highly uniform.
Upper door bins get very cold.
The Samsung Bespoke RM80F23VMR's ice-making performance is satisfactory. This isn't a fridge you buy for high-volume ice making, despite the presence of two ice makers. The larger spherical ice, handy for chilling cocktails with less dilution, takes quite a while to form. The tray itself has room for roughly nine balls, which is acceptable for smaller gatherings where you don't expect to make many drinks. Cubed ice production is much faster, though we'd still recommend buying a bag of ice or filling a separate container well in advance for bigger parties.
Can produce two different kinds of ice for different drinks.
Spherical ice production is very slow.

Popular Refrigerator Comparisons
The Samsung Bespoke RM80F23VMR is an upper mid-range 4-door fridge. Compared to other models in Samsung's Bespoke lineup, like the RF24BB6600QL, it uses a somewhat simplified cooling system with a slightly lower-capacity compressor and only a single evaporator. Only the latter seems to have much of an impact on real-world performance, as the single-evaporator RM80F23VMR provides lower humidity inside the main fridge cabinet, so produce stored outside the crisper drawer wilts faster than it would in a dual-evaporator alternative. In terms of capacity, there's more room inside than other counter-depth 4-door units like the Whirlpool WRQA59CNKZ or the KitchenAid KRQC506MPS.
If you're interested in alternatives, see our recommendations for the best refrigerators, the best counter-depth refrigerators, and the best French door refrigerators.
The Samsung Bespoke RM80F23VMR is a better-performing 4-door fridge than the KitchenAid KRQC506MPS. The Samsung offers more room in its fridge and freezer cabinets and does a better job of keeping produce crisp and fresh. If you're interested in extra features, the Samsung has more to offer as well, with its in-door Beverage Center and separate ice maker for making sphere-shaped ice for chilling cocktails.
The Samsung Bespoke RM80F23VMR outperforms the Whirlpool WRQA59CNKZ in most ways. Both are 4-door counter-depth refrigerators, but the Samsung provides a little more room in all of its cabinets and offers superior produce preservation performance. Unlike the Whirlpool, it also features a removable auto-filling water pitcher and a water dispenser.
The Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL is a more practical counter-depth refrigerator than the Samsung Bespoke RM80F23VMR. The RF24BB6600QL's more conventional French door layout and added drawers provide more space, though the RM80F23VMR freezer layout makes accessing items tucked away at the back of the cabinet much easier. Thanks to the RF24BB6600QL's dual-evaporator cooling system, produce stored outside the crisper drawer will last longer. That said, the RM80F23VMR does provide superior temperature uniformity. Its ice production rate is lower, but it's also the only unit that can produce larger spherical ice for chilling cocktails.
Test Results
Like most other refrigerators in Samsung's lineup, the Samsung RM80F23VMR can be customized to match your interior decor by swapping out its removable door panels for colored glass or metal panels.
If you'd like a preview of what those panels would look like in the real world, you can also use Samsung's Bespoke Kitchen Design Studio configurator.
Beyond that, this unit is also Wi-Fi enabled. Using the SmartThings app, you can change temperature settings, quickly change the temperature presets for the different zones in the fridge and freezer, adjust the volume of chimes and alerts, and even alter the production rate of its ice makers.
This fridge also has touch sensors to automatically open the doors, though they don't close automatically. This feature is disabled by default, though you can enable it with the control panel.
The refrigerator storage space is satisfactory. The Samsung RM80F23VMR is a counter-depth unit after all, so colossal amounts of interior space aren't the expectation. That said, there's still less space in here than in the Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL, which has a more conventional counter-depth French door design. The cabinet itself is of a decent size, but the lack of a secondary set of bins can make it a little trickier to keep things organized. Beyond that, there are only two split shelves, with the top one running the width of the cabinet. That said, you can make space for taller items near the front of the cabinet by sliding the front half of the split shelves back towards the rear of the cabinet.
Door bin capacity is alright, with the right door having enough space for juice cartons or gallon jugs of milk. That said, the left door, with its built-in Beverage Center compartment, has a bit less space in its lower half, mostly due to the carved-out niche for slotting in the Autofill water pitcher.
The freezer storage capacity is very good. The use of pull-out drawers makes it very easy to keep your groceries organized and to access them, even when they're placed all the way at the end of the cabinet.
However, there's little in the way of open, unstructured space in either cabinet, which can make it difficult to squeeze in really big items. Due to the split design of the freezer section, wide items like a family-sized pack of smoked salmon might not fit either. The twin ice makers also take up a fair amount of room in the upper left cabinet.
Unlike other models in the Bespoke lineup that we've tested, like the Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6200QL, the RM80F23VMR isn't fitted with separate evaporators for the fridge and freezer cabinets. Since air is shared across the freezer and fridge cabinets, humidity levels in the fridge are much lower than those in dual-evaporator alternatives, which in turn means you can expect a shorter lifespan for produce with a high water content that's stored outside the crisper drawers.
This unit's compressor also differs from the higher-displacement unit used in other Bespoke fridges, though we didn't find this to have much of an impact on real-world performance.
The RM80F23VMR's AI Precise Cooling system is meant to reduce the increase in temperature that occurs in the fridge cabinet during an evaporator defrost cycle by analyzing your usage habits, which is to say, when you open and close the fridge doors. However, in order to use this function, you will need to connect your fridge to your home Wi-Fi network and set up a Samsung account.
This fridge has a pair of ice makers, one for making standard-size cubes and the other for producing larger sphere-shaped ice. The cubed ice maker uses a twist-tray design, which is mechanically simple, but its plastic mold can become brittle from cold temperatures and repeated mechanical stress.
They're also located in the freezer, which is generally preferable as far as ice maker placement goes, as there's no need to maintain a stable microclimate as there would be for an ice maker built into a fridge door.
The Samsung RM80F23VMR has the same in-door Beverage Center cabinet as the Samsung Bespoke RF24BB6600QL. This compartment has a slot for the Autofill water pitcher, which has a capacity of 1.4 L, features a built-in infuser, and automatically refills with filtered water when empty. There's also a paddle-activated water dispenser, so you can fill a glass without taking the pitcher. The upper half of the Beverage Center can be used for storing cans and bottles.
Temperature uniformity inside the fridge cabinet is great for the most part. All the shelves, as well as the lower and middle door bins, stay within a few degrees of one another, allowing you to unpack your groceries in a way that actually suits your usage habits, rather than having to identify the coldest section of the fridge.
That said, the upper door bins are much colder than the rest of the cabinet, so you might want to avoid placing things like sour cream or yogurt in those spots lest they freeze. The reason for this temperature discrepancy is likely the cooling vent at the top of the fridge cabinet blowing cold air directly at the door bins, and potentially the nearby Peltier thermoelectric cooler at the top of the cabinet. These coolers have no mechanical parts and take up minimal space, but are far less power-efficient than a compressor-powered cooling system.
The Samsung RM80F23VMR's freezer temperature uniformity is excellent. There isn't too much of a difference in temperature between the top and bottom shelves, so you won't have to worry about items going soft on one shelf and freezing to a rock-hard consistency if left on another.
Much like other Samsung refrigerators that we've tested, the RM80F23VMR drops the temperature in its freezer by a few degrees below 0 °F to hasten ice production. This is unlikely to have much of an impact on frozen food in the short term, though temperature inconsistencies can impact the quality of food left inside for months or even years.
The Samsung Bespoke RM80F23VMR's produce preservation performance is good. The unit's crisper drawers have a fairly tight seal, enabling them to lock in moisture evaporating from produce with a high water content, like celery or lettuce. This, in turn, should prevent it from wilting for at least a week or more. That said, the unit's single-evaporator design results in very low humidity inside the main fridge cabinet, which would result in a short lifespan for fresh produce stored outside the crisper drawers.
This unit's combined ice production rate is satisfactory, though lower than expected. In testing, we'd selected the highest output for the 'Whiskey Ball Ice,' at six spheres of ice per day. However, within a 24-hour period, only three of those ice spheres had formed, with the remainder being nowhere close to fully formed.
The breakdown of ice type quantities follows:
- Cubed Ice: 1,085 g (2.39 lb)
- Sphere Ice: 212 g (0.47 lb)
The Samsung RM80F23VMR's combined ice-making capacity is good. The maximum yield for each ice maker is listed below:
- Cubed Ice: 1,611 g (3.55 lbs)
- Sphere Ice: 576 g (1.27 lbs)
In real-world terms, the sphere ice tray can fit nine or so of these 'Whiskey Ball Ice' spheres, which is respectable. It's worth noting that output for the latter can vary slightly, as some don't have a perfectly spherical shape.
