Our Verdict

Dyson V15 Detect

Dyson V15s Detect Submarine

The Dyson V15s Detect Submarine and the Dyson V15 Detect are effectively the same vacuum, with the main difference being that only the V15s model is compatible with the Submarine floorhead. This isn't due to any hardware differences—you can physically attach the Submarine head to the standard V15—but only the V15s Submarine model is programmed to recognize and work with this head. That said, the standard V15 will deliver all but identical performance at a much lower price, and it's the better option if you don't need the mopping floorhead.

if they are almost exactly same 2 vacuum cleaners except for mopping function, how can they score different points in parameters like Low-Pile Carpet , high-Pile Carpet or bare floor? its nonsense

    Hello!

The verdict scores at the top of the review are usage scores, scores composed of several performance scores with weighted values. You can see what those weighted values are by clicking on the question mark beside the text. So, for example, Low-Pile Carpet is a hypothetical score that you might experience by using the product. It’s composed of 30% Low-Pile Carpet Pickup, 12% User Maintenance, 10% Portability, 10% Pet Hair Pickup, etc., with the performance scores shown later in the review.

In the case of the Dyson V15 Detect vs. the Dyson V15 Submarine, we did find minor differences in low-pile carpet pickup despite the vacuums being so similar. It’s a 0.5 point difference, which is minor and within the subjective margin of evaluation for a vacuum due to unit variance. If you take the other weighted scores - user maintenance: slightly lower, portability: slightly lower because it’s heavier, recurring cost: lower score since you have to replace the roller, noise: slightly lower score because it’s louder, the Submarine’s final weighted score is a bit lower.

We score this way based on user feedback. If you have any questions or suggestions to help us improve, please let us know.

    Thank you.
