The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is a budget handheld model. It's a stripped-down version of the discontinued Wyze Cordless Vacuum, which it replaces. It uses a less powerful 100 AW motor, has a lower-capacity battery, and comes with fewer accessories. It has a powered brushroll with an LED headlight and a crevice tool, but unlike its predecessor, there's no 2-in-1 combo tool and no wall-mounted storage rack. It remains impressively lightweight and portable, though.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is adequate for bare floors. Its hard floor pickup is poor, though it's very easy to maneuver and extremely lightweight. It's also easy to maintain, with virtually no recurring costs. However, its mediocre performance in cleaning cracks means you'll have issues cleaning tile floors with deep grout lines or seams in hardwood flooring.
Lightweight construction.
Incurs virtually no recurring costs.
Low suction.
Mediocre crack cleaning performance.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S does a decent job on low-pile carpets. It's light, highly portable, and easy to maintain, although the brushroll can't be turned off should it tangle a loose rug.
Incurs virtually no recurring costs.
No brushroll on/off switch.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S does an okay job on high-pile carpets. It has passable performance on high-pile carpets but decent pet hair pickup, reasonable build quality, and easy maintenance.
Incurs virtually no recurring costs.
No brushroll on/off switch.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is passable for removing pet hair. It does a decent job removing pet hair on low-pile carpets and an acceptable job removing pet hair off furniture, though you only have the crevice tool for this task. Cleaning pet hair from the vacuum is easy, and the dust cup has a reasonable capacity.
Incurs virtually no recurring costs.
Equipped with a HEPA filter.
Not equipped with a turbo brush.
Can't clean liquid spills.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is great for cleaning stairs. It's lightweight and highly portable, making it easy to use on staircases. It's cordless so you don't have to use long extension cords plugged into a distant outlet.
Lightweight construction.
Incurs virtually no recurring costs.
Not equipped with a turbo brush.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is satisfactory for cleaning cars. While it's highly portable and lightweight, its suction is poor and it only does a decent job on low-pile automotive carpets. A turbo brush would help, but it's not included. You can configure it to be much smaller to get into tight spaces by removing the wand.
Lightweight construction.
Incurs virtually no recurring costs.
Not equipped with a turbo brush.
Low suction.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is a poor choice for cleaning a workshop. Heavy, abrasive debris like metal or wood shavings will damage its internal components, and it can't be used to clean up liquids.
Lightweight construction.
Incurs virtually no recurring costs.
Can't clean liquid spills.
Low suction.
There's only one variant of the Wyze Cordless Vacuum S. It's available in one color variant: 'Steel Grey with Wyze green accents'; no additional accessory packages are available. See our unit's label.
If you come across a variant, please let us know in the comments and we'll update our review.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is a decent replacement for the Wyze Cordless Vacuum, though it doesn't perform as well. It's remarkably light, being lighter than most ultra-lightweight cordless vacuums like the Tineco PURE ONE X (which it generally outperforms) and most Dyson models, except the Dyson Digital Slim. You'll have to go significantly upmarket to get noticeably better performance in something like the Shark Cordless Pet Plus.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S occupies a market niche below the entry-level models of other manufacturers. Its closest competitors are the Shark Pet/Rocket Pro Cordless and the Shark Cordless Pro.

The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S isn't as good as the original Wyze Cordless Vacuum, which you may still be able to find new. The performance is just a little worse on every surface, and the 'S' does not come with a wall mount or an upholstery tool/soft bristle brush tool. The 'S' does get a little more battery life at maximum power, though.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is a better vacuum than the Tineco PURE ONE X. Though the Tineco PURE ONE X is about the same weight as the Wyze Cordless Vacuum S, making it one of the lightest vacuums we've tested, its performance is lower, especially on carpet. This is despite the Tineco PURE ONE X coming with an impressive array of versatile tools.
The Shark Pet/Rocket Pro Cordless is a better vacuum than the Wyze Cordless Vacuum S, especially on pet hair. The Shark comes with an upholstery tool while the Wyze doesn't, so it's more versatile. It's a little harder to maintain, though. It also doesn't come with a HEPA filter and will blow more dust and allergens into the room than the HEPA-equipped Wyze will.
The Samsung Jet 60 is a somewhat better vacuum than the Wyze Cordless Vacuum S. It's better on all surfaces except low-pile carpets. The Samsung is also better at pet hair pickup and has more tools including a turbo brush. However, the Samsung's battery life isn't as good as the Wyze's, and it's a little harder to maintain.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S and the Tineco PWRHERO 11 perform about the same, though the Tineco is a little worse for pet hair on carpet but better on furniture. They also have nearly identical battery run times. While both vacuums have a crevice tool, the Tineco also comes with a soft bristle brush.
The Shark Detect Pro is a slightly better vacuum than the Wyze Cordless Vacuum S. It's better than the Wyze on hard floors and pet hair. It's more advanced, with sensors that detect floor type and adjust suction automatically. It will also detect and compensate for wall edges, plus, it has an unusual self-emptying station in its charging rack. However, the Shark has more parts to maintain and higher recurring costs.
Its build quality is okay. The vacuum is primarily made of plastic, though its detachable wand is aluminum, and the floorhead wheels are rubber. While it feels fairly sturdy overall, the small front wheels wear quickly.
The removable battery slides out easily, and the attachments are easy to remove and detach, although clipping the crevice tool onto the body isn't as intuitive as the Dyson V8 since it's not clear where the clip needs to go.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S has a few parts that need regular cleaning, with most being easy to access.
The dust cup can be easily emptied without detaching it by using the conveniently located latch close to the activation trigger, which opens the lid at the bottom. If you need to detach the dust cup to clean it or access the filters, push the release button.
A knob at the bottom of the dust cup rotates the HEPA filter against strips on the inside of the filter housing which will dislodge any stuck-on debris. This nice feature is quite rare and is found on much higher-end vacuums like the Miele Duoflex HX1. You can then just lift the filter out of the dust cup to inspect and clean it, though there's no specific maintenance interval you need to follow. You should clean the filter with water if there's any embedded dust left in or on it, making sure to let it dry completely before putting it back in place.
Remove any hair or bulky debris on the filter housing grating that's tangled around or stuck to it.
Most of the hair caught on the brushroll can be easily removed by hand. Any remaining hair can be removed by passing scissors or a razor in a groove in the brushroll and cutting away the hair. However, the brushroll is difficult to reinstall since it must be lined up perfectly to get it to sit on the post on the opposite side of the floorhead.
You can read the full maintenance procedures in the Quick Start Guide.
Recurring costs are low since the only replaceable component is the HEPA filter. There's no set interval for replacing it, but you should check it regularly and will probably need to replace it once or twice a year. You can get this filter from Wyze's website.
Storing the vacuum is a little difficult because it doesn't come with a wall mount—you'll have to prop it up against a wall. Also, unlike many other vacuums, the crevice tool can't be clipped to the vacuum for storage.
The dust cup is adequately sized. It falls on the smaller end of the scale for a stick vacuum, so it needs regular emptying. However, its clear plastic construction makes it easy to check its fill status at a glance, and the fill line indicates its maximum.
This is a cordless vacuum, so its range is limited only by its remaining battery life and the space left in its dust cup.
This is an impressively portable, lightweight vacuum. It weighs even less than its predecessor the Wyze Cordless Vacuum, making it one of the lightest cordless stick vacuums on the market.
Its battery performance is decent. Using it in its most energy-efficient ECO mode yields just a little more than its advertised 40 minutes of runtime, while running it in its high-power TURBO mode with its wand and floorhead drops its battery life to a little over its advertised 10 minutes. The LED display on the vacuum's body lets you monitor the battery's remaining charge.
It doesn't come with a spare battery, but one can be purchased on Wyze's website.
This vacuum has a couple of quality-of-life features. Its floorhead pivots for better maneuverability and has headlights to help you see when cleaning in darker areas. You can swap between three suction modes by tapping on the LED touchscreen: the energy-efficient ECO mode, the default MEDIUM mode, and the high-power TURBO mode. The screen will also show warnings if the brushroll gets jammed or the suction duct gets blocked.
The trigger doesn't need to be held continuously to operate the vacuum, unlike the Dyson V15 Detect.
The dust cup lid release lever is within easy reach of the trigger and can be activated with one hand.
Performance on a hard floor is disappointing. The vacuum leaves some large debris behind but does better with fine and medium-sized material. The brushroll's stiff bristles scatter some material around, and the floorhead retains some large debris rather than picking it up, which causes this material to fall to the floor when the floorhead is picked up.
The vacuum has mediocre performance on high-pile carpets. Most of the medium and large debris is picked up, but it has a hard time with fine material embedded in the carpet fibers due to its lack of agitation and poor suction. Its performance is similar to the Tineco S10.
The suction is poor, much lower than the Wyze Cordless Vacuum. The vacuum struggles to draw away debris stuck in deeper cracks and crevices and has a hard time with fine material embedded deep in high-pile carpet fibers.
The airflow is decent for a cordless handheld vacuum. It will not have a problem lifting medium debris but will struggle with heavier debris.
The vacuum is very quiet, one of the quietest cordless handheld stick vacuums that we've tested. As a result, you'll be able to hear what people nearby are saying even with the vacuum running in its high-suction TURBO mode. It won't be much of a disturbance for your neighbors if you're running it in an apartment with thin walls.
This is a lightweight, well-balanced vacuum, making it decently maneuverable. The LED headlights make it easy to see in dark areas, and its low weight makes it easy to lift over obstructions like power cords.
However, the crevice tool is awkward to use on tables and furniture since its opening is so small. You have no other tool to use on these surfaces.
Getting under a couch or table requires crouching and tilting the floorhead at an angle so it lays flat. Loose carpets and rugs with tassels can get pulled up since the brushroll can't be turned off. The vacuum displays a helpful indication that the brushroll is jammed when this occurs.
The vacuum does a passable job picking up pet hair from furniture. It removes pet hair, but you have to use the crevice tool. This takes numerous passes since the crevice tool's clearing path is so small. Hair also tends to plug the tool's side inlets.
The result is quite good, better than the Wyze Cordless Vacuum with its upholstery tool, but it takes a lot of work.
The vacuum's HEPA filter seals in most fine particles, keeping them out of the air.
