The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is a budget handheld model, the only vacuum offering from Wyze currently on the market. It's quite basic, with a small 100 AW motor, a powered brushroll, and an LED headlight. Unlike the older Wyze Cordless Vacuum that included a wall mount and charging station, this model's only accessory is a crevice tool. The most surprising feature of a vacuum in this class is a HEPA filter.
Our Verdict
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is an adequate choice for a house. This cordless vacuum's runtime is reasonable enough to clean a fairly large space or a few heavy messes. Pickup performance on carpet is fair, though it struggles with fine material due to its low suction. Its build quality is alright for a budget vacuum, and its HEPA filter is outstanding since it contains nearly every particle during operation, so that you don't have to breathe it in or cope with dust scattering all over your house. You should still try to empty this bagless vacuum outdoors, because you'll create a dust cloud when you empty it. The main issue with this vacuum is its tendency to leave behind large debris on bare floors and for material to get jammed in the floorhead, only to be released back onto the floor when you turn it off and pick the floorhead up.
Lightweight and cordless design is easy to use.
Reasonable runtime.
HEPA filter contains nearly all dust during operation.
Permanently on brushroll scatters debris.
Leaves behind large material on bare floors.
Emptying creates a cloud of dust.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is a good option for a small apartment. You'll appreciate its HEPA filter, which does a fantastic job of containing every particle during operation, so it won't affect air quality or blow dust all over your apartment. This compact, cordless stick vacuum is easy to get around a small space and stores away neatly against a wall or in a closet. Carpet pickup is alright, though it struggles with fine material since it isn't very powerful. Unfortunately, bare floor pickup is sub-par since it misses so much large material, scatters debris with its permanently-on brushroll, and traps material in its floorhead, which drops to the floor once you lift the vacuum. Also, as with most bagless vacuums, you'll create a cloud of dust when you empty the dirt compartment, so you should do this well away from living areas.
Lightweight and cordless design is easy to use.
HEPA filter contains nearly all dust during operation.
Easy to store.
Permanently on brushroll scatters debris.
Leaves behind large material on bare floors.
Emptying creates a cloud of dust.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is very good for cleaning stairs. This lightweight and cordless model is ideal for carrying up and down stairs since you don't need to worry about wrestling with a cord or finding an outlet. Its filtration is nearly perfect, containing nearly all particles and preventing them from creating a cloud in a cramped stairwell or scattering around. Its carpet and pet hair pickup is adequate, though it struggles with deeply embedded fine material due to its low suction. However, on bare floors, the brushroll scatters material, and the floorhead not only leaves large debris behind but also traps material, which falls back out when you're done cleaning.
Lightweight and cordless design is easy to use.
HEPA filter contains nearly all dust during operation.
Permanently on brushroll scatters debris.
Leaves behind large material on bare floors.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is satisfactory for cleaning cars. It's highly portable, easy to bring out to the car, and you don't need to connect it to an outlet. It does a decent job on low-pile automotive carpets despite its low suction. It's effective at removing pet hair too, though you have to use its crevice tool, which you may find tedious. A turbo brush would help, but it's not included. You can configure it to be much smaller to get into tight spaces by removing the wand. It's sturdy enough for the job, easy to clean and maintain, and stores away into a small space when you're done.
Lightweight and cordless design is easy to use.
Easy to store.
Low suction.
Only a crevice tool provided, which takes many passes to clean a large area.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S offers disappointing performance on bare floors. Its hard floor pickup is poor since the brushroll scatters material, and it leaves a lot of large debris behind, with some material getting stuck in the floorhead. If you need to clean tile floors with deep grout lines or seams in hardwood flooring, it does an acceptable job, though it struggles with fine material from smaller cracks.
Permanently on brushroll scatters debris.
Mediocre crack cleaning performance.
Leaves behind large material on bare floors.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S delivers adequate performance for cleaning carpet. Its low suction means it can't pull deeply embedded fine material in high-pile carpets, though it has no problem with medium and large debris. You'll find it easier to lift all debris out of low-pile carpets with this vacuum because it's easier for the brushroll to move the debris and easier for the low suction to lift it, but the vacuum tends to leave debris along edges, and the brushroll scatters material.
Cleans medium and large debris from carpet.
Permanently on brushroll scatters debris.
Low suction.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S offers decent pet hair pickup. The brushroll snags and lifts pet hair fairly well off the carpet, though it drags a little hair around and misses a few deeply embedded strands. You can achieve good results picking up pet hair from upholstered furniture, but with only a crevice tool to help you, it'll take a lot of work.
Cleans most pet hair from carpet.
Effective for pet hair on upholstered furniture.
Only a crevice tool provided, which takes many passes to clean a large area.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S delivers a positive contribution to air quality overall. The best feature here is the remarkable HEPA filter, which seals in nearly every speck of dust and won't blow it out into the room during operation. Yet, like most bagless vacuums, emptying it releases a cloud of dust, which will create poor air quality and scatter dust around the room. If possible, you should empty this outdoors or at least away from living areas.
HEPA filter contains nearly all dust during operation.
Emptying creates a cloud of dust.

Popular Vacuum Comparisons
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is a decent replacement for the Wyze Cordless Vacuum, though it doesn't perform as well. It occupies a market niche below the entry-level models of other manufacturers. Its closest competitor is the Shark Pet/Rocket Pro Cordless, though the main advantage of this budget vacuum is its HEPA filtration, which works just about perfectly during operation. Allergy sufferers won't find filtration this good in any other budget vacuum. It's remarkably light, being lighter than most ultra-lightweight cordless vacuums like the Tineco PURE ONE X (which it generally outperforms) and most Dyson models, except the Dyson Digital Slim. You'll have to go significantly upmarket to get noticeably better performance in something like the Shark Cordless Pet Plus.
If you're looking for other alternatives, take a look at our recommendations for the best stick vacuums, the best cordless vacuums for pet hair, and the best cordless vacuums.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S isn't as good as the original Wyze Cordless Vacuum, which you may still be able to find new. The performance is just a little worse on every surface, and the 'S' does not come with a wall mount or an upholstery tool/soft bristle brush tool. The 'S' does get a little more battery life at maximum power, though.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is a better stick vacuum than the eufy E20 (Stick) and should be considered if you want to keep your E20 as a robot vacuum and spend the least amount possible on a suitable stick vacuum replacement. The Wyze performs a little worse on bare floors but better on carpets, is easier to maintain, and has a lower operating cost. It also has a HEPA filter. It can't match the eufy's impressively short recharge time, though.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S is a better vacuum than the Tineco PURE ONE X. Though the Tineco PURE ONE X is about the same weight as the Wyze Cordless Vacuum S, making it one of the lightest vacuums we've tested, its performance is lower, especially on carpet. This is despite the Tineco PURE ONE X coming with an impressive array of versatile tools.
The Samsung Jet 60 is a somewhat better vacuum than the Wyze Cordless Vacuum S. It's better on all surfaces except low-pile carpets. The Samsung is also better at pet hair pickup and has more tools including a turbo brush. However, the Samsung's battery life isn't as good as the Wyze's, and it's a little harder to maintain.
Test Results
Performance on a hard floor is disappointing. The vacuum leaves some large debris behind but does better with fine and medium-sized material. The brushroll's stiff bristles scatter some material around, and the floorhead retains some large debris rather than picking it up, which causes this material to fall to the floor when the floorhead is picked up.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S has mediocre performance on high-pile carpets. Most of the medium and large debris is picked up, but it has a hard time with fine material embedded in the carpet fibers due to its lack of agitation and poor suction. Its performance is similar to the Tineco S10.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S does a passable job picking up pet hair from furniture. It removes pet hair, but you have to use the crevice tool. This takes numerous passes since the crevice tool's clearing path is so small. Hair also tends to plug the tool's side inlets.
The result is quite good, better than the Wyze Cordless Vacuum with its upholstery tool, but it takes a lot of work.
Its build quality is okay. The vacuum is primarily made of plastic, though its detachable wand is aluminum, and the floorhead wheels are rubber. While it feels fairly sturdy overall, the small front wheels wear quickly.
The removable battery slides out easily, and the attachments are easy to remove and detach, although clipping the crevice tool onto the body isn't as intuitive as the Dyson V8, since it's not clear where the clip needs to go.

Storing the vacuum is a little difficult because it doesn't come with a wall mount; you'll have to prop it up against a wall. Also, unlike many other vacuums, the crevice tool can't be clipped to the vacuum for storage.
The dust cup is adequately sized. It falls on the smaller end of the scale for a stick vacuum, so it needs regular emptying. However, its clear plastic construction makes it easy to check its fill status at a glance, and the fill line indicates its maximum.
The runtime is decent. Using it in its most energy-efficient ECO mode yields just a little more than its advertised 40 minutes of runtime, while running it in its high-power TURBO mode with both its wand and floorhead drops its battery life to a little over its advertised 10 minutes.
This vacuum has a swappable battery so you can keep a fully charged spare on hand, available separately on Wyze's website. Keeping a charged battery around would be a good idea; the recharge time is quite long.
The LED display on the vacuum's body lets you monitor the battery's remaining charge.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S has a few parts that need regular cleaning, with most being easy to access.
The dust cup can be easily emptied without detaching it by using the conveniently located latch close to the activation trigger, which opens the lid at the bottom. If you need to detach the dust cup to clean it or access the filters, push the release button.
A knob at the bottom of the dust cup rotates the HEPA filter against strips on the inside of the filter housing which will dislodge any stuck-on debris. This nice feature is quite rare and is found on much higher-end vacuums like the Miele Duoflex HX1. You can then just lift the filter out of the dust cup to inspect and clean it, though there's no specific maintenance interval you need to follow. You should clean the filter with water if there's any embedded dust left in or on it, making sure to let it dry completely before putting it back in place.
Remove any hair or bulky debris on the filter housing grating that's tangled around or stuck to it.
Most of the hair caught on the brushroll can be easily removed by hand. Any remaining hair can be removed by passing scissors or a razor in a groove in the brushroll and cutting away the hair. However, the brushroll is difficult to reinstall since it must be lined up perfectly to get it to sit on the post on the opposite side of the floorhead.
You can read the full maintenance procedures in the Quick Start Guide.
Recurring costs are low since the only replaceable component is the HEPA filter. There's no set interval for replacing it, but you should check it regularly and will probably need to replace it once or twice a year. You can get this filter from Wyze's website.
The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S has a couple of quality-of-life features. Its floorhead pivots for better maneuverability and has headlights to help you see when cleaning in darker areas. You can swap between three suction modes by tapping on the LED touchscreen: the energy-efficient ECO mode, the default MEDIUM mode, and the high-power TURBO mode. The screen will also show warnings if the brushroll gets jammed or the suction duct gets blocked.
The trigger doesn't need to be held continuously to operate the vacuum, unlike the Dyson V15 Detect.
The dust cup lid release lever is within easy reach of the trigger and can be activated with one hand.
This is an impressively portable, lightweight vacuum. It weighs even less than its predecessor the Wyze Cordless Vacuum, making it one of the lightest cordless stick vacuums on the market.
This is a lightweight, well-balanced vacuum, making it decently maneuverable. The LED headlights make it easy to see in dark areas, and its low weight makes it easy to lift over obstructions like power cords.
However, the crevice tool is awkward to use on tables and furniture since its opening is so small. You have no other tool to use on these surfaces.
Getting under a couch or table requires crouching and tilting the floorhead at an angle so it lays flat. Loose carpets and rugs with tassels can get pulled up since the brushroll can't be turned off. The vacuum displays a helpful indication that the brushroll is jammed when this occurs.
This is a cordless vacuum, so its range is limited only by its remaining battery life and the space left in its dust cup.
This vacuum's HEPA filter is outstanding. It contains nearly all particles when it first starts and during operation when it sucks in dust. It seals in nearly everything, keeping the air around it clean. It won't deposit dust around the room after you're finished vacuuming.
Since this is a bagless vacuum, emptying negatively impacts air quality. Even if you empty it deep into a garbage bag, dust and debris will escape and redeposit throughout your living space. Therefore, you should empty bagless vacuums like this outdoors.
The suction is poor, much lower than the Wyze Cordless Vacuum. The vacuum struggles to draw away debris stuck in deeper cracks and crevices and has a hard time with fine material embedded deep in high-pile carpet fibers.
The airflow is decent for a cordless handheld vacuum. It will not have a problem lifting medium debris but will struggle with heavier debris.
The vacuum is very quiet, one of the quietest cordless handheld stick vacuums that we've tested. As a result, you'll be able to hear what people nearby are saying even with the vacuum running in its high-suction TURBO mode. It won't be much of a disturbance for your neighbors if you're running it in an apartment with thin walls.
