The Ninja BlendBOSS is a personal blender intended for making single-serve smoothies and protein shakes. It comes with a 26oz blending jar and spout lid, so you can use it as a tumbler. Its controls include several automatic blending programs, including 'Smoothie', 'Ice Crush', and 'Blend', as well as 'Pulse', a manual mode that pulses as long as you press the button. If you're using one of the blending programs, LEDs on the motor base light up one by one to show how long is left in the cycle. Unlike many of Ninja's personal blenders, it's available in a few different bright colors.
Our Verdict
The Ninja BlendBOSS is good for multi-purpose use. It has a great build quality, with a solid 26oz jar, study motor base, and clicky buttons. It does a fantastic job of blending fibrous ingredients like fruit and quickly crushes ice, so it's well-suited for smoothies, protein shakes, and frozen drinks. It can also make smooth nut butter or hummus without a huge amount of effort, but it's not intended for blending dry ingredients without liquid, and processing dry ingredients can cause steam to build up in the jar. Similarly, because it's not vented, it's not suitable for blending hot ingredients.
Makes a smooth blend with fibrous ingredients.
Makes snow-like crushed ice.
Great build quality.
3 automatic blending programs.
Not meant for processing dry ingredients.
Quite loud.
The Ninja BlendBOSS is an excellent blender for making single-serve smoothies. This personal blender includes a 26oz jar and a matching lid with a spout that flips open, so you can bring your smoothie on the go without pouring it into another tumbler. It quickly crushes ice and smoothly blends fibrous leafy greens and fruit, so your smoothies don't have unprocessed bits leftover. That said, some blenders are a bit faster. Depending on your recipe, you might need multiple 'Smoothie' presets for the best results.

The Ninja BlendBOSS is a very good option for multiple servings of smoothies. This well-built personal blender does a fantastic job of blending common smoothie ingredients like leafy greens, fruit, and ice cubes, so it's quick and easy to use for personal smoothies. It's decently easy to clean by hand, and its jar and lid are dishwasher safe. Still, like most personal blenders, it's best-suited for making smoothies for one. It comes with a single 26oz jar, so you'll have to work in batches if you're making multiple servings.

Small 26oz capacity.
The Ninja BlendBOSS is good for ice crushing. This personal blender has a great build quality and easily crushes small batches of ice in its 26oz jar, so it's a convenient option for making ice for cocktails or blending icy drinks like slushies. Its controls include an ice-crush preset that works well, though it's nearly a minute long. That makes it useful for blending drinks with ice, but if you're blending ice without liquid in the jar, you might want to stop it early so it doesn't start melting.

Great build quality.
The Ninja BlendBOSS isn't suitable for making soups. Like most personal blenders, its design won't let steam escape, so it can't be used for hot blending. The jar's 26oz capacity means you'll probably need to blend in batches, as well. However, as long as you let your ingredients cool first, it makes a very smooth blend with fibrous vegetables like broccoli and kale.
Small 26oz capacity.
Not meant for hot blending.
The Ninja BlendBOSS is alright for professional use. It has a sturdy build and versatile performance, since it easily crushes ice, smoothly blends fibrous ingredients, and even processes harder ingredients like almonds quite easily. However, as expected for a personal blender, it has a small 26oz capacity, so you're limited to making small batches. It's not suitable for blending hot ingredients and can be a pain to clean by hand, although its jar, blades, and lid are all dishwasher-safe.

Popular Blender Comparisons
The Ninja BlendBOSS is a personal blender with versatile performance. Its motor base looks like a rounder and more colorful version of the Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO's, and it offers a similarly versatile performance, easily making small batches of crushed ice and very smooth blends with fibrous fruits and greens. It doesn't come with a 'Smoothie Bowl Maker', which makes blending thicker recipes much easier with the DUO, but it's still decently easy to use for recipes like nut butter. However, it's quite loud and only comes with one 26oz jar. If you want a quieter model or one that comes with multiple jars, the Beast Mighty 850 Plus and Ninja Nutri-Blender Pro with Auto-iQ are equally good for blending common smoothie ingredients like kale or pineapple.

The Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO is a little better than the Ninja BlendBOSS. The Foodi blends smoothies faster. It's easier to use for thicker recipes like nut butter or hummus because of its 'Smoothie Bowl Maker' jar. There are also two 24oz personal jars included. The BlendBOSS comes with one 26oz tumbler, but you might prefer its design or brighter color variants. Also, while neither blender is very quiet, the BlendBOSS makes significantly less noise when it's running.
You might prefer either the Beast Mighty 850 Plus or the Ninja BlendBOSS. The Ninja is more versatile, with a much better performance for ice crushing and making nut butter. On the other hand, the Beast comes with multiple jars and accessories, including reusable straws. It's quieter, sturdier, and blends fibrous ingredients equally smoothly, so you might prefer it for simple smoothies.
The Ninja Nutri-Blender Pro with Auto-iQ and the Ninja BlendBOSS have different strengths. The Nutri-Blender includes a couple of personal jars, blends smoothies a bit faster, and its design makes it easier to clean by hand. The BlendBOSS has a much better build quality and works better for crushing ice and processing thicker recipes like nut butter.
The Beast Mega 1200 and the Ninja BlendBOSS have different strengths. The Beast is a personal blender with a much larger capacity with its 44oz and 33oz jars. It has a better build quality and blends bigger batches more quickly. That said, the Ninja performs similarly to smoothies. Its 26oz tumbler has a less bulky, more portable design, and it does a better job with tough blends like ice cubes or nut butter.
Test Results
These are the results with four ice cubes in the jar, but the blender can also handle six ice cubes quite easily for larger batches of snow-like crushed ice.
This blender should not be used to blend dry ingredients, per the manufacturer. We still performed our nut butter test without any liquid in the jar, since other similar personal blenders can make nut butter. However, it should be noted that steam built up in the jar during the test, which poses a safety issue.
