This blender doesn't come with an additional jar. If you want a smaller-size jar, you can buy additional jars, but they're sold separately and we don't test them.
The blades are sharp and thick. They can be serviced thanks to the nut assembly, but removing the blades voids the warranty and is heavily discouraged by the manufacturer. To clean the blades, you can put the jar in the dishwasher.
The lid is identical to the lid on the Vitamix A2300. It's clear and there are clips on each side that help you get a secure seal. You can remove the middle part of the lid to add ingredients or use the tamper while blending. The removable part of the lid can also be used as a 30ml measuring cup.
This blender comes with a power cord that's long enough to reach outlets near your counter. Unlike the Blendtec Classic 575, there's also a stowaway compartment so you can store the cable away when it's not in use.

This blender comes with several programs and modes. There's a self-clean program and a timer that operates more like a stopwatch by counting how long you've been blending. You have to watch the blender and stop it at the desired time. The presets automatically stop when they're finished, and the length of time they run depends on the preset. There are three presets on the blender's dial (Smoothie, Frozen Drink, Hot Soups) and you can access additional presets like Spice Grinding and Baby Food via the Vitamix Perfect Blend companion app, which connects to the blender using Bluetooth. The Vitamix A2500 is very easy to clean. If you run the blender with hot water and soap, you can easily clean up messes like smoothies and almond butter. Stickier messes like almond butter may require you to use a brush to clean under the blades, but it comes off easily.
Update 01/26/2021: We originally reported that this blender doesn't adjust its speed based on the jar size. However, this blend has 'Self-Detect' technology that allows it to automatically adjust its speed depending on the size of the jar you're using. These jars are sold separately. We have updated the results of this box.
This blender doesn't have a lot of extra features. It comes with a tamper to help you move food in the blender while it's blending. It can also be used for hot blending, so you can use it to make soups and sauces. Like other blenders from Vitamix's Ascent lineup such as the Vitamix A3300, this blender also automatically adjusts its settings based on the size of the jar, but you have to purchase these different-sized jars separately.
The Vitamix A2500 comes in four different colors: Black, White, Slate, and Red. We tested the Black variant, but we expect the other models to perform similarly.
The Vitamix A2500 comes with a 64-ounce main jar. However, there are several other sizes of jars in the Ascent Series that you can purchase separately including a 48-ounce container, a 48-ounce dry grains container for blending flour and other grains, a 20-ounce blending cup starter kit, and an 8-ounce blending bowl starter kit. These accessories are part of the Ascent Series, so they come with Vitamix's Self-Detect technology built into the base. According to the manufacturer, the A2500 can recognize the attachments using this technology and adjust the blend settings depending on the size of the container. We only tested the 64-ounce variant, so these attachments may perform differently with this blender.
In Europe, this product is sold as the Vitamix A2500i and it comes with a slightly larger, 2-liter main jar. It may perform differently than our unit due to the difference in size.
