The Vitamix A2300 Ascent Series is a well-built blender with ten different speed settings. It performs well with a variety of uses, and can easily crush ice, make smooth almond butter, and blend smoothies. It can also hot blend and it's even Bluetooth-compatible, so you can access lots of presets via its companion app. Unfortunately, this bulky blender needs to be stored on a kitchen counter or in a large cabinet. It also doesn't fully blend leafy greens like kale, resulting in a slightly grainy smoothie. That said, this versatile blender is dishwasher-safe and easy to clean.

It can easily make bar-quality crushed ice and smooth and spreadable almond butter. It can even be used to hot blend, which is convenient. The Vitamix A2300 is excellent for making smoothies and protein shakes. This well-built, powerful blender can easily blend a smooth-textured smoothie. However, it struggles a little bit with leafy greens like kale, so your smoothie can be the slightest bit grainy. Also, when blended at high speeds, the smoothie can be slightly warm. The Vitamix A2300 has an outstanding build quality. Like the Vitamix Explorian E310 and Vitamix A3300, it's mostly made out of solid plastic and metal, and the cable is thick. Its jar and lid feel a bit more sturdy, and there's a bit less wobble. Overall, there aren't any noticeable flaws, and this blender feels premium.
This blender comes with a very large main jar that feels solid and well-built. It can be placed in any orientation on the base, and it's dishwasher-safe.
The Vitamix A2300 doesn't come with any additional jars. If you prefer a smaller-size jar, you can buy additional jars, but these are sold separately and we don't test for them.
This blender comes with four sharp, slightly thick blades that aren't meant to be removed from the jar for cleaning. While it can be serviced thanks to its nut assembly, removing the blades voids the warranty and is heavily discouraged by the manufacturer. On the upside, the jar is dishwasher-safe, which helps with cleaning.
The lid has clips on each side that help you ensure a good seal. It's clear, so you can see inside the blender while you're blending, which is convenient. You can even remove the middle part of the lid to add ingredients or use the tamper while blending. The removable center part can also be used as a 30ml measuring cup.
The Vitamix A2300 comes with a thick power cord that's long enough to reach most outlets. There's a stowaway compartment that can store the cable when it's not in use, but it can be a bit difficult to stow it properly.

The Vitamix A2300 has a 10-setting speed dial and a pulse mode. There's also an on/off toggle on the right side of the blender. While it makes more noise than the Vitamix Explorian E310 at max speed, it's fairly quiet at slower speeds, which is nice. If you're looking for a similar blender with preset modes on the control panel, check out the Vitamix A2500.

The Vitamix A2300 is excellent for making smoothies. It takes around two minutes to make a smooth, well-blended smoothie, though it struggles a bit to blend kale, and the final product is the faintest bit grainy. The drink is also a bit warm due to the friction from running the blender at max speed. If you're looking for a blender that can produce a less grainy smoothie, check out the Vitamix 5200.
This blender doesn't come with an additional jar.
This blender has several programs and modes. There's a self-clean program, which is convenient, and a timer that operates more like a stopwatch by counting how long you've been blending. You have to watch the blender and stop it at the desired time. You can access all of the presets (Smoothies, Hot Soups, Frozen Desserts, Spreads, Dry Chopping, Nut Butters, Cold Skim Milk Foam, Dressings, Spice Grinding, Baby Food, Marinades, Frozen Cocktails, Nut Milks, Thick Dips, Batter, and Acai Bowls) via the Vitamix Perfect Blend companion app, which connects to the blender using Bluetooth. Unlike the timer, these programs run for a set amount of time and stop automatically.
The Vitamix A2300 is very easy to clean. You can clean up most messes like smoothies and almond butter by running the blender with a bit of soap and water and using a sponge on the lid. With stickier messes like almond butter, you may need to use a brush to clean under the blades, but it's still a simple clean-up overall.
Update 01/26/2021: We originally reported that this blender doesn't adjust its speed based on the jar size. However, this blend has 'Self-Detect' technology that allows it to automatically adjust its speed depending on the size of the jar you're using. These jars are sold separately. We have updated the results of this box.
This blender doesn't have a lot of extra features and accessories. It can be used for hot blending, so you can use it to prepare soups and sauces. There's a tamper to help you move the food within the blender while it's blending. The blender also automatically adjusts its settings based on the size of the jar, but you have to purchase these different-sized jars separately.

The Vitamix A2300 comes with a 64-ounce main jar. However, there are several other sizes of jars in the Ascent Series that you can purchase separately including a 48-ounce container, a 48-ounce dry grains container for blending flour and other grains, a 20-ounce blending cup starter kit, and an 8-ounce blending bowl starter kit. These accessories are part of the Ascent Series, so they come with Vitamix's Self-Detect technology built into the base. According to the manufacturer, the A2300 can recognize the attachments using this technology and adjust the blend settings depending on the size of the container. We only tested the 64-ounce variant, so it's possible that these attachments will perform differently with this blender.
In Europe, this product is sold as the Vitamix A2300i and it comes with a slightly larger, 2-liter main jar. It may perform differently than our unit due to the difference in size.

The 5200 also comes with 'High' and 'Variable' speed settings, unlike the A2300.

The Vitamix A2300 is a better blender than the KitchenAid K400. It's a lot more powerful and also feels better built and more premium. Also, the Vitamix makes smoother nut butter and is easier to clean. The Vitamix's main jar is larger and comes with a tamper. On the other hand, while the KitchenAid is a bit inferior in pretty much all categories, it's a lot more affordable than the Vitamix.
