The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI is the 2026 flagship robot vacuum/mop combo from Ecovacs' X series lineup. It uses a roller mop design rather than spinning pads and navigates with embedded LIDAR for mapping and an RGB camera for obstacle detection. The X9 includes redesigned side and main brushes designed to prevent hair tangles, along with AI stain detection that analyzes and adapts to different mess types. It comes with an all-in-one dock that automatically empties the dustbin, refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop using hot water and hot air.
Our Verdict
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI is a decent choice for multi-surface households. If your home is mostly hard floors, it'll handle daily maintenance well and has impressive stain removal capabilities. The dock handles day-to-day cleaning automatically, significantly reducing hands-on work. However, the performance gap between hard floors and carpet is significant. You'll notice leftover debris along carpet edges and baseboards that requires manual vacuuming, and it requires two passes to pick up pet hair effectively. Obstacle handling is great overall, with reliable navigation around furniture, though rug tassels get tangled and require you to intervene. Regrettably, this robot vacuum doesn't avoid pet waste reliably enough to let you run it unattended if you have accident-prone pets.
Handles daily maintenance in open areas well.
Auto-emptying dock handles day-to-day maintenance.
Easily removes dried-on stains.
Adeptly navigates around household obstacles, requiring minimal intervention.
AI features can cause it to skip large messes on hard floors.
Doesn't clean thoroughly along edges and in corners.
Not suitable for carpets with very long fibers.
Runs over pet waste on carpets.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI is a reasonable choice for pet owners, with a mix of benefits and drawbacks. While it can't lift pet hair from carpets in a single pass, a second pass leaves virtually no hair behind. It also operates quietly enough that it won't stress nervous pets. The robot vacuum generally avoids obstacles like dog toys, but unfortunately, it occasionally runs over pet waste. If your pets ever have accidents in the house, it's a good idea to avoid running the device when you're not home to avoid making a bigger mess. The dock's automatic emptying helps since you won't have to manually handle clumps of pet hair as often, but many components require regular cleaning, and dealing with pet hair tangled in various parts makes this especially tedious and time-consuming.
Auto-emptying dock handles day-to-day maintenance.
Quiet operation won't disturb nervous pets.
Hair wraps around the brushroll and is difficult to remove.
Runs over pet waste on carpets.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI is decent for cleaning hard floors. If you have mostly open floor areas, it'll handle regular maintenance well, picking up everyday dust and debris without much trouble. However, it doesn't thoroughly clean along baseboards, so you'll still need to clean those areas manually. One frustrating quirk is that enabling AI features can backfire, causing the device to avoid cleaning large messes altogether and treat them as obstacles. This means you'll need to either disable those features or manually clean up bigger spills.
Handles daily maintenance in open areas well.
Doesn't scatter much debris around while cleaning.
AI features can cause it to skip large messes on hard floors.
Doesn't clean thoroughly along edges and in corners.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI cleans carpets adequately. If you have low-pile carpeting, it'll handle light, regular maintenance reasonably well in open areas, but requires you to manually vacuum edges and baseboards on all carpet types because it leaves a lot of debris behind. Ecovacs warns against using this on very high-pile carpets, and the vacuum can snag and tear carpet fibers on thicker surfaces. It may even refuse to clean some high-pile carpets entirely, mistaking the thick pile for a drop-off and refusing to proceed.
Handles daily maintenance in open areas well.
The Carpet Boost feature adjusts suction automatically.
Doesn't clean thoroughly along edges and in corners.
Not suitable for carpets with very long fibers.
Struggles with navigating and cleaning dark carpets.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI offers mediocre pet hair pickup. It picks up a fair amount of hair on the first pass, but leaves noticeable amounts behind because the brushroll's edges don't agitate as effectively as they should. Running a second pass helps significantly, removing virtually all remaining hair. If you're looking for a truly hands-off solution for pet hair, however, you'll want something that performs better on the first pass.
Multiple passes improve results significantly.
First pass leaves lots of hair behind because brushroll edges don't agitate hair effectively.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI offers great obstacle handling. On hard floors, it navigates around furniture and obstacles reliably without getting stuck. Performance drops on carpet, where it bumps into things more often and occasionally needs intervention. The main issues are rug tassels, which get tangled and require you to free the vacuum manually. Most alarmingly, it doesn't reliably avoid pet waste, so if your pets are accident-prone, you'll only want to run the device when you're around to monitor it.
Navigates obstacles well and rarely requires intervention on hard floors.
Cleans under low furniture effectively.
Doesn't get stuck on chair legs.
Rug tassels get tangled and require manual intervention.
Doesn't consistently avoid pet waste.

Popular Robot Vacuum Comparisons
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI is the brand's newest X-series flagship model, released just months after the Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI. Despite a redesigned vacuuming system that's meant to improve airflow and pickup, the X9's real-world performance is mixed overall and not worth the upgrade over the X8. Consider the X9 if you have shedding pets, because it offers improved pet hair pickup over the X8. For anyone else, the X8 is the better choice overall, as it outperforms its successor on both hard floors and carpets.
When compared to the broader market, the X9's standout feature is its stain removal capabilities, outperforming premium models like the Roborock Saros 10R or the MOVA P50 Pro Ultra. For most people, however, this won't be worth the trade-offs in overall performance, as the X9 can't stand up to these models in most other performance categories. It's also important to note that the X9 has documented mapping and navigation issues, though we didn't encounter them during testing.
For more alternatives, check out recommendations for the best robot vacuums, the best robot vacuums for hardwood floors, and the best robot vacuums for carpet.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI and Roborock Saros 10R are both high-end robot vacuums, but they excel in different areas. The Saros 10R is significantly better at hard floor cleaning, delivering remarkable performance that far surpasses the X9. This makes it the stronger choice if your home is mostly hard flooring and you want the most thorough pickup possible. However, the X9 pulls ahead when it comes to pet hair pickup and adapts to your home more reliably.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI and Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI are both premium robot vacuums with comprehensive all-in-one docks, but there are key trade-offs depending on your priorities. While the newer X9 features design upgrades to ostensibly improve performance, the X8 outperforms it on both hard floors and carpets, and offers significantly better stain removal. However, the X9 might be a better choice for pet owners because it lifts pet hair from carpets more effectively. It’s also capable of navigating around furniture more reliably.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X11 OmniCyclone and Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI are both high-end X-series robot vacuums, but they have different strengths. The X11 cleans hard floors and high-pile carpet more effectively and does a better job picking up pet hair. The X9 is the stronger choice if your home has lots of obstacles or cluttered furniture, and it's also significantly better at stain removal.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI and Roborock Qrevo Curv are both high-end robot vacuums, but they have very different strengths. If your home is mostly hard flooring and you want the most thorough pickup possible, the Curv is the clear winner. However, the X9 handles pet hair pickup more effectively and has great obstacle handling, while the Curv really struggles in this area.

Build quality is good overall. The vacuum uses premium plastic throughout with a textured, low-gloss finish and gold chrome accents. The sensor covers are made of high-quality transparent material, and the construction feels very sturdy, just like the Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI. Parts fit tightly together, which makes disassembly harder initially but also means everything is securely attached. The buttons, wheels, and dustbin all feel solid.
The main weak point is the bumper, particularly around the LiDAR cutout, which feels fragile. It's sturdy enough for everyday use, but it could be concerning if the vacuum frequently bumps into things. On the positive side, the dustbin latch doesn't show the plastic fatigue issues that affected the X8.

This robot vacuum has high ongoing maintenance needs. While most parts can be removed without tools, some require significant force, and the sheer number of components means you'll have to spend a lot of time on maintenance.
Hair wraps around the main brushroll and is difficult to remove. You can simply rinse the dustbin and filters with water, but they need 24 hours to dry completely. While the dock handles much of the day-to-day maintenance for you, it also requires upkeep. Both the dirty and clean water tanks need regular cleaning, the charging contacts need wiping, and the cleaning tray module requires periodic rinsing.

This robot vacuum has high recurring costs. You have to replace the following parts regularly:
- Main brushroll
- Roller mop (standard or antibacterial)
- Side brush (2-pack)
- Antibacterial dustbags: available in a 6-pack or a 3-pack
- Antibacterial filters (3-pack)
- Cleaning solution (optional)
You can also buy an accessory kit bundle that includes key replacement parts and may be more economical than buying items individually.
If you're interested in a bagless model, consider the X9's successor, the Ecovacs DEEBOT X11 OmniCyclone.

The Ecovacs X9 PRO OMNI has a very small onboard dirt compartment and dirty water tank, so you may find that the robot vacuum has to go back to the dock to self-empty frequently.

The dock does an excellent job of handling most day-to-day maintenance tasks automatically, including emptying the dustbin, refilling the water tank, and washing and drying the mop using hot water and hot air. Unfortunately, the mop cleaning feature isn't particularly effective. As you can see from the before and after comparison, there's no noticeable difference. To get the best results, you'll want to hand-wash the roller regularly.

The Ecovacs X9 PRO OMNI has excellent battery life overall, but it varies significantly based on the settings you choose. On Max suction with Deep pathing, you'll see the battery drain quickly. If you switch to Quiet mode, however, it lasts a lot longer, though it still drains faster than the Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI despite having the same battery capacity. The vacuum returns to the dock automatically when it hits 10% battery.
If you want to extend cleaning time by a few minutes, the PowerBoost feature quickly charges the battery while the dock washes the roller mop.

The Ecovacs X9 PRO OMNI includes the standard quality-of-life features shared by most premium robot vacuums. What sets it apart is AI Intelligent Hosting, which automatically tweaks settings based on real-time conditions and pairs with Intelligent Deep Mopping for stubborn messes. You also get a carpet sensitivity adjustment for handling different pile heights. One limitation is that you can't mop without vacuuming first, since there's no dedicated Mop Only mode.

The Ecovacs X9 PRO OMNI does a good job on hard floors when using Standard suction with Standard pathing. It picks up most debris effectively and cleans corners well, though it leaves some debris along baseboards and scatters a bit as it cleans.
One issue to be aware of: if you turn on AI features, the vacuum can mistake large debris piles for obstacles and refuse to clean them properly, which significantly impacts performance.
It's also worth noting that the mop attachment is deployed even when you select vacuum-only cleaning. While this doesn't impact performance when the mop is dry, it can be an issue if it's wet.

The Ecovacs X9 PRO OMNI does a decent job cleaning high-pile carpets when using Standard suction with Standard pathing and Carpet Boost enabled. It handles open floor areas reasonably well, but leaves lots of debris along baseboards and in corners. This is largely because of the updated fixed side brush, which causes the device to perform worse than the Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI, which uses an extendable side brush.
During testing, we had to cover the cliff sensors to prevent the robot vacuum from mistaking the thick carpet for a ledge. Also, Ecovacs recommends against using this on carpets with fibers longer than 10mm because there's a risk of it snagging and ripping carpet fibers on high-pile surfaces.

The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI does a decent job of cleaning low-pile carpets when using Standard suction with Standard pathing and Carpet Boost enabled. Unfortunately, the new side brush design results in significantly worse performance than the Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI when cleaning edges. You'll see debris left behind along baseboards and vertical edges, and it tends to scatter debris around as it moves.

This robot vacuum does a fair job of picking up pet hair on carpets when using Standard pathing and Standard suction with Carpet Boost on. Like the Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI, it leaves hair behind on the first pass, particularly along edges where the brush doesn't agitate the hair as effectively. However, the pathing is better on the X9, making it perform better than the X8. If you run a second pass, it's able to remove virtually all remaining hair.
We couldn't test the Ecovacs X9 PRO OMNI's airflow because the vacuum won't run its motor until it's in position, which makes it incompatible with our testing setup.
for videos & test results
The Ecovacs X9 PRO OMNI is relatively quiet for a robot vacuum when using the Standard suction setting on bare floors and Standard suction with Carpet Boost mode on carpets.

The Ecovacs X9 PRO OMNI does a great job navigating around furniture and other obstacles. It cleans under low furniture and around chair legs without getting stuck and avoids reflective surfaces like mirrors completely. It does, however, run into issues when it comes to rug tassels; they get tangled and require you to intervene.
for videos & test results
The vacuum does a good job of avoiding obstacles, using a combination of LiDAR for navigation, an RGB camera for obstacle detection, and bump sensors as a fallback. It performs well on bare floors but struggles much more on carpet, where it bumps into things more frequently and occasionally needs you to step in and help. It also doesn't consistently avoid pet waste.

The vacuum struggles with threshold clearance. It performs worse than the Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI, failing to clear even relatively low thresholds. You'll likely face issues if your home has raised doorways or transitions between rooms.
The Ecovacs X9 PRO OMNI uses an M6 filter rather than a HEPA filter, so it won't capture fine particles or allergens as effectively.

The vacuum's performance on cracks is subpar when using its default Standard suction. The side brushes do a decent job of dislodging debris, but still leave dust on the floor. Despite using Deep pathing by default, it shows no improvement over the Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI. Running an extra pass at maximum suction doesn't make much of a difference.

The Ecovacs X9 PRO OMNI does a great job cleaning stains with its default Deep pathing mode enabled. Unlike the Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI, it doesn't target stains intelligently by default, and turning on AI Intelligent Hosting doesn't improve performance. As a result, it lags behind the X8 for stain cleaning performance.
