The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI is the 2025 flagship model in Ecovacs' X8 family of robot vacuums. This vacuum-and-mop combo is the first Ecovacs model to use a roller mop instead of dual spinning mop pads, and the roller extends to reach edges and corners during cleaning. The mop automatically lifts when it detects carpet, allowing it to clean homes with mixed flooring in a single run. For navigation, it combines an RGB camera with embedded LiDAR, which is mounted near the front of the robot rather than on top, giving it a slimmer design. The vacuum pairs with a multi-function dock that empties the dustbin, refills the water reservoir, and washes and dries the mop roller using hot water and hot air.
Our Verdict
The DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI is a good choice for multi-surface households. It really shines on hard floors, where it picks up debris effectively and does an exceptional job tackling stains, making it perfect if your home is prone to kitchen spills or muddy pawprints. The dock handles a lot of the maintenance work for you, so you won't be constantly emptying bins or rinsing mop pads. It handles carpets decently and offers satisfactory obstacle management. Pet hair pickup is adequate, though you'll likely see some hair left behind after standard cleaning cycles. Enabling deeper cleaning modes with multiple passes significantly improves pet hair results.
Effectively clears nearly all debris from hard floors.
Impressive station maintenance capabilities.
Removes dried-on stains completely.
Effectively agitates low-pile carpet to remove debris.
Requires a lot of user maintenance.
Leaves some debris in corners and along edges.
Leaves pet hair behind in standard cleaning modes.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI is an okay option for pet owners, offering both pros and cons. If your pets track muddy paw prints across your hard floors, this robot vacuum really delivers with exceptional stain removal. It also operates quietly enough that it shouldn't scare skittish pets. The primary downside is that its ability to pick up pet hair from carpets is mediocre, which may be a dealbreaker if most of your home features a lot of carpets or rugs. Additionally, this robot vacuum can't reliably avoid pet waste, so it's best to only run cleaning cycles when you're home if your pets are prone to accidents.

Doesn't avoid pet waste.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI is a very good choice if your home has mostly hard floors. It effectively clears debris from the main floor area, making quick work of everyday dirt, crumbs, and dust. However, you'll notice some limitations with edge and corner cleaning. It leaves small amounts of debris along horizontal edges and in tight corners, even in areas mapped as accessible. The robot vacuum also scatters some debris as it works and may drag dirt around rather than picking it up.
Effectively clears nearly all debris from hard floors.
Leaves some debris in corners and along edges.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI is a decent choice for carpeted homes. It clears most debris from both low-pile and high-pile carpets, though it leaves small amounts along edges and in corners. It's important to note that Ecovacs recommends against using this robot vacuum on carpets with fibers longer than 10 mm. If you have dark, high-pile carpets, you may need to cover the cliff sensors to prevent false drop-off detection. Overall, it handles everyday carpet maintenance adequately, but you may encounter some issues.
Effectively agitates low-pile carpet to remove debris.
Leaves some debris in corners and along edges.
Shouldn't be used on carpets with fibers longer than 10 mm.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI does a passable job picking up pet hair from carpets. However, it struggles to pick up all the pet hair in a single pass, leaving a noticeable amount behind. If you have shedding pets, you'll want to enable the deeper cleaning modes with multiple passes, which significantly improves results, clearing much more hair.
Cleans all pet hair when you enable Deep Cleaning mode.
Leaves pet hair behind in standard cleaning modes.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI does a decent job handling obstacles around your home. It navigates most furniture effectively, using a bumper-mounted LiDAR sensor for mapping and an RGB camera for obstacle avoidance. While this setup works well for common household items, it may occasionally bump lighter furniture and shift it slightly. Its main weakness is tasseled rugs, which tangle the side brush and require you to intervene. The robot vacuum also doesn't always successfully identify and avoid pet waste, so you'll want to only run cleaning cycles when you're home if your pet has accidents.
Very good at navigating around most common household obstacles.
Requires intervention for tasseled rugs.
Doesn't avoid pet waste.

Popular Robot Vacuum Comparisons
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI is a high-end vacuum-and-mop combo that competes with flagship models from brands like Roborock and Dreame. What genuinely sets it apart is its stain removal performance. Even premium robot vacuums typically struggle with stains, but this model excels thanks to its roller mop system, outperforming competitors like the Roborock Qrevo Curv, the Dreame X50 Ultra, and the Roborock Saros 10R. In terms of picking up debris on low-pile carpets, it outperforms most other models, putting it in line with the 2024 flagship Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra.
Like many robot vacuums, this model struggles with pet hair pickup and can't match the performance of the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra or the MOVA P50 Pro Ultra. Finally, although the embedded LiDAR keeps the profile slimmer than traditional top-mounted sensors, it doesn't deliver better real-world clearance under furniture, unlike other models with this design, like the Roborock Saros 10R.

The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI and the Roborock Saros 10R are both high-end robot vacuum-and-mop combos with front-mounted LiDAR, though the Saros 10R's design translates to better real-world performance for getting under low furniture. The X8 PRO significantly outperforms the Saros 10R at removing stains and performs better on carpets and with pet hair pickup, making it the stronger choice if you prioritize deep cleaning and stain removal with mixed flooring. The Saros 10R, on the other hand, delivers better hard floor debris pickup and superior obstacle handling, giving it better all-around performance if you have mostly hard floors.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI and the Dreame X50 Ultra are both robot vacuum-and-mop combos with slim designs, though the X50 performs noticeably better in real-world applications when cleaning under low furniture. The X8 significantly outperforms the X50 at stain removal and hard-floor debris pickup, making it the better choice if those are priorities. The X50, however, offers much better obstacle avoidance, navigating around household items more effectively.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI and Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra are similarly matched robot vacuum-mop combos, but they excel in different areas. If stain removal is your priority, the X8 is the clear winner. It significantly outperforms the Roborock and does slightly better on hard floors and with obstacle handling. However, if you have shedding pets, the S8 is the better choice, outperforming the X8 at picking up pet hair from carpets.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI and the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra are both robot vacuums with mopping capabilities. The X8 outperforms the P10 in most areas, excelling at stain removal and performing notably better on both low-pile and high-pile carpets, making it the stronger choice for homes with mixed flooring or frequent spills. It also picks up more pet hair and does much better on hard floors. The P10, on the other hand, offers dramatically better obstacle avoidance, making it a better choice if your home has lots of furniture and objects to navigate around.
Test Results
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI has decent build quality. It's made primarily from premium plastic, including high-quality transparent sensor covers, giving it a solid feel. The wheels are sturdy, and the button feels responsive.
However, there are some concerns when it comes to durability. The bumper is generally solid, but the cutout for the embedded LiDAR sensor feels and looks fragile. More importantly, the dustbin latch shows signs of plastic fatigue even after minimal use. This doesn't cause issues immediately, but if the latch wears further, the dustbin might not lock into place correctly.
The Ecovacs X8 PRO OMNI requires a lot of ongoing maintenance. All maintenance parts can be removed without tools, but they fit together very tightly, making disassembly and reassembly more challenging than you might expect.
While most parts are relatively easy to clean, the sheer volume makes maintenance time-consuming. The main brushroll comes off easily but tends to collect wrapped hair, which can be difficult to remove without tools if you let it build up. The dustbin, filters, dirty water tank, mop tray, and various sensors all require regular attention. Both the robot vacuum's and dock's water tanks need cleaning, and the cleaning tray module requires periodic maintenance as well.
You can find more details in the user manual.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI has high recurring costs because you'll need to replace the following parts regularly:
- Antibacterial roller mop
- Antibacterial dustbags: available in a 6-pack or a 3-pack
- Side brush (2-pack)
- Main brushroll
- Antibacterial filters (3-pack)
- Cleaning solution (optional)
The brand also offers an accessory kit bundle that includes multiple replacement parts, which may be more economical than buying items individually.
The Ecovacs X8 PRO OMNI has a small onboard dirt compartment and a dirty water tank. If you have a larger home or heavy debris, you'll find the robot vacuum needs to return to its dock frequently to empty itself.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI has great station maintenance capabilities that handle a lot of the routine upkeep automatically. The dock features auto-empty functionality, mop washing that cleans the roller after use, and hot air drying to help prevent mold and odor buildup.
However, these self-cleaning functions don't always get the job done. The mop roller and dustbin often still show visible debris and stains even after automatic cleaning cycles. This means you'll need to occasionally supplement the automatic maintenance with manual cleaning.

The Ecovacs X8 PRO OMNI has excellent battery life, allowing it to handle even large homes without needing to recharge mid-clean. But battery performance varies significantly depending on which settings you use. Using Quiet suction with Deep pathing gives you substantially more runtime than Max suction with the same settings.
The trade-off for this impressive battery capacity is a long recharge time of about 4.5 hours. If you ever run multiple cleaning cycles per day, you'll need to account for this lengthy charging period between sessions.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI offers the quality-of-life features you'd expect from a high-end robot vacuum. What stands out is its AI Intelligent Hosting feature, which automatically adjusts cleaning parameters based on conditions, and Intelligent Deep Mopping, which works in tandem with the AI system for tougher mopping jobs. It also has several carpet-specific settings, including a sensitivity adjustment for thin carpets versus regular pile heights. Notably, this model doesn't have a Mop Only option, so you have to choose between vacuuming before or during mopping.
The Ecovacs X8 PRO OMNI does a good job cleaning bare floors when using Standard suction with Standard pathing, but it struggles with cleaning corners, even when they're mapped as 'accessible.' It also scatters some debris during cleaning. Using more aggressive settings like Maximum suction and Deep Cleaning pathing doesn't significantly improve particle pickup performance.
When the robot vacuum finishes cleaning and attempts to head to its dock, its spinning brush can spread debris around while it’s searching. One quirk we encountered: the robot vacuum deployed its mop even when set to Vac Only mode. While this appeared to be an isolated incident in our testing, it's worth knowing that the mode setting may not always work as expected. Let us know in the comments if you've experienced this issue.
The DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI does a decent job cleaning high-pile carpets when using Standard suction with Standard pathing and Carpet Boost enabled. While it clears most of the carpet effectively, you'll still find some leftover debris along the edges and in corners. However, it does scatter a small amount of debris when you pick it up.
Ecovacs also doesn't recommend using this robot vacuum on high-pile carpets with fibers measuring over 10 mm. If you have dark, high-pile carpets, you may need to cover the cliff sensors with tape to prevent the robot vacuum from mistaking the carpet for a drop-off. Additionally, small debris can occasionally get wedged in the sensor opening, which could potentially cause issues.
The DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI does a good job cleaning low-pile carpets when using Standard suction with Standard pathing and Carpet Boost enabled. It picks up most debris effectively, though it leaves small amounts behind along edges and in corners. Some debris gets dragged around or embedded in the carpet fibers rather than being picked up completely.
The DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI does an acceptable job picking up pet hair from carpets when using Balanced suction with Standard pathing and Carpet Boost on. It misses some hair in areas it passes over, which seems to be because the center of the brushroll agitates hair more than the edges do. Pet owners should consider using Deep Clean pathing with the 2 Passes option because this configuration cleans virtually all pet hair.
We weren't able to test the airflow performance of this robot vacuum because the motor only activates after the vacuum establishes its position through movement. This isn't possible in our standard testing setup, where the device needs to remain stationary.
This robot vacuum is relatively quiet when using the Standard suction setting on bare floors and the Standard suction with Carpet Boost mode on carpets.
The DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI does a very good job navigating around common household obstacles. It handles most furniture well, including low tables and chairs, though it occasionally bumps items lightly. It's generally able to avoid reflective surfaces like mirrors. Its main weakness is tasseled rugs, which tend to get tangled and require intervention.
The DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI does a passable job avoiding obstacles, using a bumper-mounted LiDAR sensor for navigation and mapping, an RGB camera for obstacle avoidance, and bump sensors for other situations. While it generally navigates around most objects, it doesn't successfully identify and avoid pet waste.
Despite this model's embedded LiDAR system (which is positioned near the front of the device rather than mounted on top), it still can't navigate under low furniture.
The DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI does a decent job with low thresholds, but it treats taller ones as obstacles and turns away instead of climbing them.
We couldn't test the airflow and filtration performance of this robot vacuum because its motor only activates after the vacuum maps its position, which it can't do when immobilized in the testing zone. This model uses a standard M6 filter that isn't designed to filter out allergens. While the filter is described as "anti-microbial," this prevents bacteria and mold from growing on the filter itself rather than filtering these contaminants from your home's air.
The DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI does a poor job clearing debris from cracks and crevices when using Standard suction and Standard pathing. It manages to clear some debris from cracks, but ultimately still leaves dirt behind.
The DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI does an exceptional job removing stains from hard floors with Deep pathing mode. It features AIVI 3D 3.0, Ecovacs' AI recognition system that identifies and targets stains during cleaning. When it finds a stain, it works methodically with cross-pattern passes until virtually no trace remains. However, it takes a long time to get the job done, taking roughly 10 minutes. This extended cleaning time seems to be characteristic of how this robot vacuum operates rather than solely due to stain detection, because it took a similar amount of time to clean an empty test zone.
While the Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI doubles as a robot mop, it can't deal with liquid spills without risking damage to the device.
