The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI is the 2026 flagship robot vacuum/mop combo from Ecovacs' X series lineup. It uses a roller mop design rather than spinning pads and navigates with embedded LIDAR for mapping and an RGB camera for obstacle detection. The X9 includes redesigned side and main brushes designed to prevent hair tangles, along with AI stain detection that analyzes and adapts to different mess types. It comes with an all-in-one dock that automatically empties the dustbin, refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop using hot water and hot air.
Our Verdict
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI is a decent choice for multi-surface households. If your home is mostly hard floors, it'll handle daily maintenance well and has impressive stain removal capabilities. The dock handles day-to-day cleaning automatically, significantly reducing hands-on work. However, the performance gap between hard floors and carpet is significant. You'll notice leftover debris along carpet edges and baseboards that requires manual vacuuming, and it requires two passes to pick up pet hair effectively. Obstacle handling is great overall, with reliable navigation around furniture, though rug tassels get tangled and require you to intervene. Regrettably, this robot vacuum doesn't avoid pet waste reliably enough to let you run it unattended if you have accident-prone pets.
Handles daily maintenance in open areas well.
Auto-emptying dock handles day-to-day maintenance.
Easily removes dried-on stains.
Adeptly navigates around household obstacles, requiring minimal intervention.
AI features can cause it to skip large messes on hard floors.
Doesn't clean thoroughly along edges and in corners.
Not suitable for carpets with very long fibers.
Runs over pet waste on carpets.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI is a reasonable choice for pet owners, with a mix of benefits and drawbacks. While it can't lift pet hair from carpets in a single pass, a second pass leaves virtually no hair behind. It also operates quietly enough that it won't stress nervous pets. The robot vacuum generally avoids obstacles like dog toys, but unfortunately, it occasionally runs over pet waste. If your pets ever have accidents in the house, it's a good idea to avoid running the device when you're not home to avoid making a bigger mess. The dock's automatic emptying helps since you won't have to manually handle clumps of pet hair as often, but many components require regular cleaning, and dealing with pet hair tangled in various parts makes this especially tedious and time-consuming.
Auto-emptying dock handles day-to-day maintenance.
Quiet operation won't disturb nervous pets.
Hair wraps around the brushroll and is difficult to remove.
Runs over pet waste on carpets.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI is decent for cleaning hard floors. If you have mostly open floor areas, it'll handle regular maintenance well, picking up everyday dust and debris without much trouble. However, it doesn't thoroughly clean along baseboards, so you'll still need to clean those areas manually. One frustrating quirk is that enabling AI features can backfire, causing the device to avoid cleaning large messes altogether and treat them as obstacles. This means you'll need to either disable those features or manually clean up bigger spills.
Handles daily maintenance in open areas well.
Doesn't scatter much debris around while cleaning.
AI features can cause it to skip large messes on hard floors.
Doesn't clean thoroughly along edges and in corners.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI cleans carpets adequately. If you have low-pile carpeting, it'll handle light, regular maintenance reasonably well in open areas, but requires you to manually vacuum edges and baseboards on all carpet types because it leaves a lot of debris behind. Ecovacs warns against using this on very high-pile carpets, and the vacuum can snag and tear carpet fibers on thicker surfaces. It may even refuse to clean some high-pile carpets entirely, mistaking the thick pile for a drop-off and refusing to proceed.
Handles daily maintenance in open areas well.
The Carpet Boost feature adjusts suction automatically.
Doesn't clean thoroughly along edges and in corners.
Not suitable for carpets with very long fibers.
Struggles with navigating and cleaning dark carpets.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI offers mediocre pet hair pickup. It picks up a fair amount of hair on the first pass, but leaves noticeable amounts behind because the brushroll's edges don't agitate as effectively as they should. Running a second pass helps significantly, removing virtually all remaining hair. If you're looking for a truly hands-off solution for pet hair, however, you'll want something that performs better on the first pass.
Multiple passes improve results significantly.
First pass leaves lots of hair behind because brushroll edges don't agitate hair effectively.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI offers great obstacle handling. On hard floors, it navigates around furniture and obstacles reliably without getting stuck. Performance drops on carpet, where it bumps into things more often and occasionally needs intervention. The main issues are rug tassels, which get tangled and require you to free the vacuum manually. Most alarmingly, it doesn't reliably avoid pet waste, so if your pets are accident-prone, you'll only want to run the device when you're around to monitor it.
Navigates obstacles well and rarely requires intervention on hard floors.
Cleans under low furniture effectively.
Doesn't get stuck on chair legs.
Rug tassels get tangled and require manual intervention.
Doesn't consistently avoid pet waste.

Popular Robot Vacuum Comparisons
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI is the brand's newest X-series flagship model, released just months after the Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI. Despite a redesigned vacuuming system that's meant to improve airflow and pickup, the X9's real-world performance is mixed overall and not worth the upgrade over the X8. Consider the X9 if you have shedding pets, because it offers improved pet hair pickup over the X8. For anyone else, the X8 is the better choice overall, as it outperforms its successor on both hard floors and carpets.
When compared to the broader market, the X9's standout feature is its stain removal capabilities, outperforming premium models like the Roborock Saros 10R or the MOVA P50 Pro Ultra. For most people, however, this won't be worth the trade-offs in overall performance, as the X9 can't stand up to these models in most other performance categories. It's also important to note that the X9 has documented mapping and navigation issues, though we didn't encounter them during testing.

The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI and Roborock Saros 10R are both high-end robot vacuums, but they excel in different areas. The Saros 10R is significantly better at hard floor cleaning, delivering remarkable performance that far surpasses the X9. This makes it the stronger choice if your home is mostly hard flooring and you want the most thorough pickup possible. However, the X9 pulls ahead when it comes to pet hair pickup and adapts to your home more reliably.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI and Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI are both premium robot vacuums with comprehensive all-in-one docks, but there are key trade-offs depending on your priorities. While the newer X9 features design upgrades to ostensibly improve performance, the X8 outperforms it on both hard floors and carpets, and offers significantly better stain removal. However, the X9 might be a better choice for pet owners because it lifts pet hair from carpets more effectively. It’s also capable of navigating around furniture more reliably.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI and MOVA P50 Pro Ultra are both high-end robot vacuums, but the MOVA delivers stronger cleaning performance across most categories. The MOVA offers better hard floor and carpet pickup, and lifts pet hair from carpets more effectively. However, the X9 excels where the MOVA struggles. It's significantly better at stain removal and has superior obstacle handling, navigating around furniture more adeptly. If you need strong mopping performance or have a cluttered home with lots of obstacles, the X9 is the better fit.
The Ecovacs DEEBOT X9 PRO OMNI and Roborock Qrevo Curv are both high-end robot vacuums, but they have very different strengths. If your home is mostly hard flooring and you want the most thorough pickup possible, the Curv is the clear winner. However, the X9 handles pet hair pickup more effectively and has great obstacle handling, while the Curv really struggles in this area.
