The bella 2-Slice Slim is an affordable toaster designed to fit in small spaces as part of bella's 'Fits-anywhere' lineup. It has a single long slot with room for two slices of sandwich bread or one longer slice of homemade or bakery bread. There's a dial with six shade settings and a cancel button, but beyond that, this simple toaster doesn't offer any extra features, including the typical bagel and frozen settings found on most toasters.

Our Verdict

6.6
Everyday Use

The bella 2-Slice Slim is a mediocre option for everyday use. As a single-long-slot toaster, it has a simple design without any extra features. There's a shade selector and a cancel button, but you won't find buttons for frozen items or one-sided toasting. This last exclusion makes it an unremarkable choice for toasting bagels, since the top and bottom come out even more toasted than the cut sides. That said, it's a very good choice for toasting bread. As a long-slot toaster, it can accommodate two slices of sandwich bread side by side, or a longer slice of homemade or bakery bread, but it's not particularly tall, so some slices may stick out the top. It browns your slices quickly and evenly on both sides, without drying them out, though you get different results depending on where you place your bread in the slot. When you're finished toasting, you'll have to clean a pile of crumbs off your counter, since this model's narrow crumb tray doesn't contain them well.

Pros
  • Compact design fits in small spaces.

  • Toasts quickly and evenly, without drying out food.

Cons
  • Toasting results vary based on position in the slot.

  • Countertops need cleaning after every use.

  • Lacks quality-of-life features, including one-sided toasting.

7.9
Toast

The bella 2-Slice Slim is a very good choice for making toast. It toasts each slice evenly, leaving the bread's surface uniformly browned on both sides, though it delivers different results depending on where you place your bread in the slot. It reaches a golden brown shade quickly and doesn't dry out your toast in the process.

Pros
  • Toasts quickly.

  • Toasts evenly on both sides.

  • Doesn't dry out toast while browning.

Cons
  • Toasting results vary based on position in the slot.

  • Taller slices of bread may stick out of the short slot.

6.6
Bagels

The bella 2-Slice Slim is alright for toasting bagels. It toasts quickly and evenly without drying out your food, but unlike most toasters, it doesn't have a bagel mode. So, there's no dedicated button that adds the extra time a bagel needs to toast properly, and it's not possible to toast a bagel, English muffin, or burger bun on only one side.

Pros
  • Toasts quickly and evenly, without drying out food.

Cons
  • Toasting results vary based on position in the slot.

  • Lacks quality-of-life features, including one-sided toasting.

5.0
Crumb Management

The bella 2-Slice Slim does a poor job of containing crumbs. As you're toasting, crumbs fall on either side of the very narrow crumb tray, leaving a mess on your counter. To keep your counter clean, sweep away crumbs, loose grains, and seeds after each use of the toaster.

Pros
Cons
  • Countertops need cleaning after every use.

9.4
Size

The bella 2-Slice Slim is very compact. As a single-long-slot toaster, it's fairly long but very narrow, so it's easy to fit on a cluttered counter and simple to store on a shelf or in a cupboard.

Pros
  • Compact, narrow design fits easily in small spaces.

    Popular Toaster Comparisons

The bella 2-Slice Slim Toaster is a simple, budget-friendly toaster with just one long slot, giving it a narrow, space-saving design. It's even more compact than other one-slot toasters, like the Dash Clear View Long Slot, but its design also leaves room for fewer quality-of-life features. It has a shade selector with six options and a cancel button, but unlike the Dash, it doesn't have a button for toasting frozen items, an option for toasting bagels on one side only, or a way to see when your toast will be ready. In terms of toasting performance for plain sandwich bread, however, these models are very evenly matched. They both produce evenly browned toast quickly, so your toast stays fluffy in the center, even if you like it on the charred side. Many standard two-slot toasters, however, produce even better toast. Both the Black+Decker 2-Slice Toaster T2569B and the Hamilton Beach 2 Slice Toaster with Extra-Wide Slots 22217 toast faster and more evenly. They also leave fewer crumbs behind on your counter after toasting. Still, if you want a cheap, compact long-slot toaster for long slices of homemade or bakery bread and don't need the extra features, the bella delivers solid toasting performance at a very affordable price.

    Black+Decker 2-Slice T2569B

    Track

The Black+Decker 2-Slice T2569B is a better toaster than the bella 2-Slice Slim for almost everyone. It toasts more evenly than the bella, so your toast comes out well-browned on both sides, batch after batch. It has wider slots, so you can use it for thicker slices of Texas toast or sourdough, and it offers more features. Neither option can toast on one side only, but while the bella has only a shade selector and a cancel button, the Black+Decker has buttons for bagels and frozen items that add more time to a toasting cycle. It also leaves fewer crumbs on your counter. That said, as a long-slot toaster, the bella can accommodate longer slices of homemade or bakery bread, and its single slot means it fits into narrow spaces a typical two-slot toaster won't, so you may prefer it if you have very limited counter space.

Hamilton Beach 2 Slice Toaster with Extra-Wide Slots 22217

    Track

The Hamilton Beach 2 Slice Toaster with Extra-Wide Slots 22217 is better than the bella 2-Slice Slim for most people. Both toasters are simple, budget-friendly options that toast quickly, without drying out your bread, but the Hamilton Beach toasts more evenly, leaving your bread uniformly browned on both sides. It also leaves fewer crumbs on your counter. That said, as a long-slot toaster, the bella gives you more room for longer slices, and because it only has one slot, it can fit into narrow spaces that the Hamilton Beach is too wide for.

Oster 2-Slice Toaster with Quick-Check Lever

    Track

The Oster 2-Slice Toaster with Quick-Check Lever and the bella 2-Slice Slim are both compact, budget-friendly toasters. While neither offers particularly impressive performance overall, they both make pretty good toast and offer benefits that make them worth considering. Get the Oster if you want extra quality-of-life features, like the 'quick-check lever,' which lets you check toasting progress mid-cycle or buttons for bagels and frozen items, which add a little time to a toasting cycle. Get the bella if you care about speed, since it finishes toasting faster, leaving your bread evenly browned on the outside and soft in the center. Thanks to its long slot, the bella also gives you space for longer artisanal slices that don't fit in a regular 2-slice toaster.

    Dash Clear View Long Slot

    Track

The Dash Clear View Long Slot is a better toaster than the bella 2-Slice Slim for most users. While the bella makes very good toast, the Dash makes great toast. It browns each slice evenly and pops them back up quickly, so your toast doesn't dry out before you get a chance to butter it. It has a button for bagels that lets you toast only one side of a bagel or bun, and wider, deeper slots, so you can toast your favorite bread without worrying it'll stick out the top. The Dash also features a viewing window, so you can keep an eye on its progress. Of course, if your main consideration is saving space, you may still want the bella, since it takes up significantly less room on your countertop.

This toaster has a very narrow, plastic body. Before use, the user manual recommends running the toaster once without bread to burn off any manufacturing residue. During this initial run, we noticed that the plastic in the center of the toaster started to bow outward, likely due to the heat.
