The Dualit 2 Slice NewGen Classic is very good for day-to-day use. It's an outstanding choice for bagels, since it toasts quickly without drying out your breakfast, and its bagel mode lets you brown one side while leaving the other completely untoasted. Unlike most modern toasters, this one doesn't include a clamping mechanism to center food in the slot, so slices of bread don't toast very evenly, but both sides come out with nearly identical levels of browning. It has deep slots, so it's ideal for baked goods that tend to stick out of the top of an average-sized toaster slot. Thanks to its analog design, this toaster has fairly simple features. There's an option for frozen items on the wind-up dial; you can watch it wind back down to estimate when your toast will be ready, or turn it back to pop your toast up before the cycle ends. When you're finished toasting, you may have to clean a few crumbs off your counter, but the crumb tray catches most of the mess.
