The COSORI Dual Blaze 6.8qt CAF-P583S is a high-end single-basket air fryer with a couple of unique features. It has two heating elements, one positioned above the cooking chamber and one below, a design intended to minimize the need to shake or flip your food during cooking. It also offers access to the VeSync app, which allows you to use voice control through Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, browse and send recipe info to the air fryer, create and save your own recipes, and, if you're in the U.S., scan packaged food for instructions.

Our Verdict

7.5
Air Frying

The COSORI Dual Blaze Air Fryer is a good choice overall. It makes decent-quality fried food, leaving most of each batch crispy, though it also under- or overcooks a significant portion. It's not a versatile option, so it's best suited for air fryer staples, like fries, wings, and vegetables. Although it has an impressive top fan speed and maximum temperature, its range is limited, lacking the low speeds and temperatures required for tasks like dehydrating, proofing dough, or temperamental baking. It preheats and cooks quickly, though, so it's a good choice for quick air-fried meals and snacks.

Pros
  • Large cooking surface area makes it easy to spread food out.

  • Preheats and cooks quickly.

Cons
  • Limited range of temperature settings and fan speeds.

7.7
Large Batch Cooking

The COSORI Dual Blaze Air Fryer is a good choice for large-batch cooking. Its 6.8-quart capacity is large enough to cook for four or five people, depending on the dish you're preparing. There's also enough surface area in the basket to make arranging food in a single layer easy, which helps produce better results. In terms of frying performance, it makes decent-quality food. By the time it finishes cooking, most of each batch is crispy and golden brown, though it also leaves a sizable portion undercooked or burnt. Unfortunately, this air fryer lacks versatility. While it can reach a high maximum fan speed and temperature, the other end of the range is very limited, making it a poor choice for recipes that require low temperatures or fan speeds, like dehydrating, proofing dough, or baking. It does cook quickly, though, so you can make multiple batches of classic air-fried meals and snacks fast.

Pros
  • Enough capacity for four to five people.

  • Large cooking surface area makes it easy to spread food out.

  • Preheats and cooks quickly.

Cons
  • Limited range of temperature settings and fan speeds.

7.6
Frying Performance

The COSORI Dual Blaze Air Fryer delivers a good frying performance. There's a lot of surface area in its basket, making it easy to arrange food in a single layer for better results. Additionally, its maximum fan speed is very fast, providing plenty of airflow. However, only the top heating element is paired with a fan. Because the air fryer also powers the bottom element, the fan-equipped element is likely underpowered, resulting in less even cooking and less temperature stability. Ultimately, it produces decent-quality air-fried food, leaving most of each batch crispy and well-cooked; however, it also leaves a significant portion undercooked and burns a few pieces as well. That said, it cooks quickly, so you don't have to wait long for results.

Pros
  • Large cooking surface area makes it easy to spread food out.

  • Preheats and cooks quickly.

  • High maximum fan speed.

Cons
  • Temperature fluctuates during cooking.

  • Limited range of temperature settings and fan speeds.

    Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The COSORI Dual Blaze is available in a few different colors, though most retailers only carry the 'Dark Grey' variant. You can find additional colors, including 'Green,' 'Blue,' and 'Oyster White' at Best Buy (U.S.). We tested the Dark Grey variant, and you can see the label for our unit.

If you encounter another variant, let us know in the comments, and we'll update this review.

    Popular Air Fryer Comparisons

The COSORI Dual Blaze is a 6.8-quart air fryer with dual heating elements and VeSync app support, offering voice control, the ability to scan packages for step-by-step cooking instructions, and tools to create and save custom recipes. When it comes to air frying, it performs roughly in line with similarly-sized models. For example, it produces slightly better-quality air-fried food than the Dreo ChefMaker, and it finishes cooking a bit faster; however, in both cases, the difference is marginal. Unfortunately, it's a lot less versatile than most options in this range. The Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL AF181, for example, offers a much wider range of temperature and fan speed settings, allowing you to dehydrate and proof dough as well as air fry, broil, and roast. This is especially disappointing, considering one of the brand's less expensive options, the COSORI TurboBlaze, offers outstanding performance in this area. In fact, except for a somewhat faster cooking speed and a slightly larger cooking chamber, the TurboBlaze outperforms the Dual Blaze in every respect; it produces better-quality fried food, offers greater versatility, and occupies less counter space. Unless you're particularly interested in the Dual Blaze's app connectivity, the TurboBlaze is a better choice, especially when you factor in its significantly lower price.

    COSORI TurboBlaze

The COSORI TurboBlaze is a better air fryer than the COSORI Dual Blaze 6.8qt CAF-P583S, for most people. The TurboBlaze makes better-quality fried food than the Dual Blaze, leaving more of each batch crispy. It also offers greater versatility. It has a wider range of fan speeds and temperature settings, particularly at the low end, making it a better choice for alternate cooking methods like dehydrating and proofing dough. It's also more compact, and despite having a smaller capacity, it has nearly the same amount of cooking surface area, so it's easier to spread food out for better results. The Dual Blaze preheats and cooks a bit faster and offers some special features through the VeSync app, like voice control. However, considering the TurboBlaze's more affordable price and better overall performance, the extra features won't be worth it for most people.

    Ninja Pro AF141

The Ninja Pro AF141 is a better air fryer for most people than the COSORI Dual Blaze 6.8qt CAF-P583S. The Ninja makes slightly crispier, better-quality fried food, and it does so faster. It's also a lot more versatile. The Ninja has a wider range of fan speeds and temperature settings, allowing you to use it effectively for dehydrating, proofing dough, and baking. In contrast, the COSORI is best suited for air fryer staples like fries, wings, and vegetables. The COSORI, on the other hand, has a larger capacity, so if you want an air fryer that can handle larger portions, it's still worth considering.

    Ninja Max XL AF161

The Ninja Max XL AF161 is a better air fryer than the COSORI Dual Blaze 6.8qt CAF-P583S for most people. The Ninja makes better-quality food, so more of each batch comes out crispy and golden brown. It also offers more versatility, with a much wider range of temperature settings and fan speeds, making it a better choice if you want to experiment with different cooking methods, such as dehydrating. While they cook equally as fast, the Ninja preheats a bit quicker. The COSORI has a larger capacity, though, so it's worth considering if you want to make larger quantities of food.

    Instant Vortex Plus 140-3088-01

The COSORI Dual Blaze 6.8qt CAF-P583S and the Instant Vortex Plus 140-3088-01 have different strengths, and you may prefer one over the other depending on what's most important to you. The COSORI makes better-quality fried food, so more of your meals and snacks come out crispy and well-cooked. The Instant, on the other hand, is more versatile, with a wider range of temperature settings and fan speeds. It also maintains a more stable temperature throughout the cooking process. Together, these advantages make the Instant a better choice for alternative cooking methods, like dehydrating, proofing dough, and baking.

The basket has a capacity of 6.8 quarts, which is sufficient to serve approximately four to five people, depending on the dish being prepared. It has a good amount of cooking surface area, making it relatively easy to arrange food in a single layer. However, compared to the COSORI TurboBlaze, which has a smaller capacity, it doesn't offer much extra surface area; instead, it gains most of its additional capacity in height. The crisper plate inside the basket has a PTFE coating, making it easy to clean.

It provides disappointing versatility. While its maximum temperature and fan speed are impressive, it doesn't offer a very low temperature setting, and its lowest fan speed is only slightly slower than its highest. This limitation makes it a poor choice for tasks like dehydrating and proofing dough, and increases the likelihood of dried-out baked goods. It still offers various preset cooking modes, but they mainly change the temperature and time settings, with only slight variations in fan speed:

    • Air Fry: 175°F-400°F, max 60 minutes, fan speed: 3080 RPM
    • Reheat: 300°F-400°F, max 15 minutes, fan speed: 3080 RPM
    • Roast: 175°F-400°F, max 60 minutes, fan speed: 3080 RPM
    • Keep Warm: 175°F-195°F, max 60 minutes, fan speed: 3080 RPM
    • Bake: 250°F-400°F, max 60 minutes, fan speed: 3000 RPM
    • Broil: 350°F-400°F, max 30 minutes, fan speed: 3090 RPM
    • Frozen: 350°F-400°F, max 20 minutes, fan speed: 3080 RPM

As the name suggests, this air fryer features dual heating elements: one located above the cooking chamber, where the fan is positioned, and one positioned below. COSORI calls this setup '360 ThermoIQ Technology' and claims that it reduces the need to shake or flip your food throughout cooking.

It also features access to the VeSync app, which offers several interesting features and voice control through Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. You'll find an assortment of recipes in the app, and when you pick one, the air fryer automatically loads the recipe's settings. You can also create and save custom recipes or even scan a package to view step-by-step frying instructions, though this last feature is only available in the U.S.

The COSORI Dual Blaze produces decent-quality air-fried food. It leaves the majority of each batch crispy and well-cooked, but a significant portion remains undercooked, while a few pieces also burn.

Although the addition of a second burner might suggest that this air fryer would offer better frying performance than the COSORI TurboBlaze, which has a more conventional design with one burner, that's not the case. Instead, the TurboBlaze produces better-quality air-fried food, resulting in fewer over- or undercooked pieces. This likely comes down to a couple of factors. First, the basket is larger without adding much extra cooking surface area, which gives the air fryer more space to heat but provides a similar amount of space to arrange food in a single layer. Second, only the top burner is paired with a fan. Because the air fryer has to power both heating elements, the top burner is most likely underpowered compared to air fryers with only one element. This difference means that less heat and airflow reach your food, resulting in less impressive cooking results.

It maintains adequate temperature stability. After you open the drawer to add food, it takes quite a while to return to the selected temperature. Once it does, the temperature continues to fluctuate pretty significantly throughout the rest of the cooking process. This relative instability can make it harder to follow recipes accurately.
