The Ninja Air Fryer Pro 4-in-1 (AF141) is a small 5-qt air fryer. Its overall capacity is enough to cook for about two to three people, and its compact size makes it suitable for cramped kitchens. Unlike other Ninja air fryers, which come with features like dual baskets or multi-cooker abilities, it has a simple design. There are only four modes, and it doesn't have a shake reminder or preheat feature.

Our Verdict

8.1
Air Frying

The Ninja AF141 is a great air fryer. While it has a straightforward design, it has a very good frying performance, so things like chicken wings, vegetables, and French fries come out mostly golden brown and crispy without a big proportion of under or overcooked parts. It's also very fast and versatile, as its high max fan speed is good for quickly crisping, and its lowest is suitable for dehydrating.

Pros
  • Makes good-quality fried food.
  • Cooks quickly.
  • Wide range of fan speeds.
Cons
  • Only four modes.
7.6
Large Batch Cooking

The Ninja AF141 is good for large-batch cooking. Its 5-quart capacity is suitable for cooking for two to three people, so it's a smaller air fryer overall. However, it has a decent amount of surface area in its basket for you to arrange food in a single layer. It makes good-quality fried food quickly, and it's quite versatile, thanks to its wide range of temperature and fan speed settings.

Pros
  • Makes good-quality fried food.
  • Decent cooking surface area.
  • Wide range of fan speeds.
Cons
  • Somewhat small 5-qt capacity.
7.9
Frying Performance

The Ninja AF141 has a very good frying performance. Its fast maximum fan speed helps it make good-quality fried food quickly, with a relatively small proportion undercooked or burnt. It doesn't take long to heat back up after you open the drawer to add food, and it maintains a particularly stable temperature during cooking, which makes it easier to follow recipes and properly cook delicate foods.

Pros
  • Makes good-quality fried food.
  • Great temperature stability.
  • Decent cooking surface area.
Cons
  • Somewhat small 5-qt capacity.
8.7

7.3
Cooking Capacity

The Ninja AF141 has a decent cooking capacity. It's a smaller air fryer with only 5qts of capacity overall, which is enough to cook for about two to three people. However, its basket has a good amount of surface area for its capacity, giving you more room for spreading food out in a single layer versus other 5-qt air fryers.

    Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The Ninja AF141 comes in one color: 'Gray.' Here's a photo of our unit's label. The Ninja AF140 is the Ninja Air Fryer Pro 3-in-1 and is identical to the AF141, except it doesn't have a 'Roast' function, which lets you set the timer to up to four hours. Otherwise, we expect our results to be valid for that model.

If you encounter another variant, let us know in the comments, and we'll update our review.

    Popular Air Fryer Comparisons

The Ninja AF141 is a compact 5-quart air fryer. It's a good choice if you want something small since it uses its space efficiently. The basket gives you as much room to arrange food in a single layer as some air fryers with a bigger overall capacity, like the BELLA 6qt Pro 90165 or the 5.5-qt Ninja Max XL AF161, which can help it make a bigger volume of good-quality fried food. It has better temperature stability than most air fryers we've tested, which helps with cooking foods that need specific conditions and getting good results when following recipes. However, it lacks a preheat mode and shake reminder.

If you're looking for a recommendation, check out our list of the best air fryers.

    COSORI TurboBlaze

The COSORI TurboBlaze and the Ninja Pro AF141 are both high-performing air fryers, and you may prefer either depending on your preferences. The COSORI has a roomier cooking basket and produces slightly better quality fried food, resulting in a larger portion of each batch coming out crispy and well-browned. It's also more versatile; it gets a bit hotter and has a wider range of fan speed settings, making it better suited to alternate cooking methods, like dehydrating or broiling. The Ninja, on the other hand, preheats and cooks faster. It also maintains a more stable temperature than the COSORI, making it easier to follow recipes accurately.

    Ninja Foodi DZ550

The Ninja Foodi DZ550 and the Ninja Pro AF141 are both impressive air fryers, and you may prefer one over the other depending on whether you want a single- or dual-basket model. The DZ550 features two baskets, making it a more suitable choice for preparing complete meals. It makes better-quality fried food and offers more versatility, with a higher maximum temperature and a lower minimum fan speed. The AF141 is a single-basket model that's significantly more compact, making it a better choice if you're cooking for a couple of people or have limited counter space. It maintains a more stable temperature throughout cooking, making it easier to follow recipes accurately.

    Philips Airfryer 2000 series 4.2L NA220/00

The Ninja Pro AF141 is a better air fryer than the Philips Airfryer 2000 Series 4.2L NA220/00.  Both options produce good-quality fried food, so most of each batch comes out crispy and golden brown in both cases, but the Ninja comes out ahead pretty much everywhere else. It cooks faster, maintains a more stable temperature, and offers better versatility, with a wider range of temperature settings, fan speeds, and cooking modes.

It also provides a larger cooking capacity, while taking up slightly less space.

Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL AF181

The Ninja Pro AF141 and Ninja Air Fryer Pro XL AF181 are both impressive models from the brand, but they have small differences, and you may prefer either depending on your priorities. The AF181's taller cooking chamber provides a larger 6.5-quart capacity, but it doesn't increase the cooking surface area compared to the 5-quart AF141. This makes it great for taller items, but doesn't give you any extra room to spread food out. When it comes to frying quality, the AF141 comes out ahead, leaving more of each batch crispy and well-cooked. On the other hand, the AF181 cooks a bit faster. Both models are impressively versatile, with wide enough temperature and fan speed ranges for dehydrating on the low end or roasting on the high end.

The basket has a decent amount of cooking surface area. You have more room to spread your food out in a single layer compared with the Chefman TurboFry RJ38-5-T, which has the same 5-qt overall capacity. The crisper tray has a ceramic coating, which is nice if you want to avoid traditional non-stick materials, but it's not as easy to clean by hand as PTFE-coated trays.

It has great versatility, mainly because it has a wide range of fan speeds. The highest fan speed is very fast, which helps with quickly crisping food without drying it out, and the lowest is quite slow, which helps avoid blowing your food around the basket while dehydrating. It also has a wide range of temperatures, although it doesn't get as hot as some air fryers. The different modes correspond with different fan speeds, and you can customize the cook time and temperature. Most of the time, you can adjust the cooking time in one-minute increments, but if you're using 'Roast' or 'Dehydrate,' depending on the total cooking time, you may only be able to adjust the time in five- or 15-minute increments.

    • Air Fry: 1 – 60 minutes. Time is adjustable in one-minute increments
    • Roast: 1 minute – 4 hours. Time is adjustable in one-minute increments up to one hour and five-minute increments beyond one hour
    • Reheat: 1 – 60 minutes. Time is adjustable in one-minute increments
    • Dehydrate: 15 minutes – 8 hours. Time is adjustable in 15-minute increments

It makes good-quality air-fried food. However, it doesn't cook completely evenly, so some parts of your food will be overcooked while some parts are undercooked. When air-frying things like chicken wings, Brussels sprouts, or French fries, most come out well-cooked, golden brown, and crispy.

After adding food, it returns to temperature faster than most air fryers. It also maintains a very stable temperature during cooking, which helps you predict when your food will be ready, accurately follow recipes, and cook delicate foods.
