The Ninja French Door Premier FO101 is a large toaster oven that's marketed as a combination air fryer, convection oven, and toaster. It has a set of French doors that open together, giving it a unique look on your kitchen counter. The cooking chamber provides enough space for six slices of toast or a 12-inch pizza, along with two rack positions. This toaster oven comes with a wire rack, a broil rack, a baking sheet, an air frying basket, and a crumb tray. There are a handful of cooking method presets, including air fry, bake, dehydrate, and whole roast, as well as settings for various foods.

Our Verdict

7.9
Mixed Usage

The Ninja French Door Premier provides very good mixed-use performance. It has a large cooking chamber with space for a range of recipes, and it maintains a stable temperature, making it a good choice for baked goods and leftovers, as it's unlikely to burn or dry them out. It works well for toasting, too. It browns bread slices very evenly, though one side comes out darker than the other, and it doesn't finish toasting very quickly. When it comes to air frying, it works faster than most other toaster ovens. It air fries pretty evenly, leaving most of your food crispy but undercooking another sizable portion.

Pros
  • Wide, fairly tall cooking chamber.

  • Toasts evenly.

  • Maintains a uniform, consistent temperature.

  • Air fries most of your food evenly.

  • Air fries very quickly.

Cons
  • Some options toast more quickly.

  • Leaves a significant portion undercooked when air frying.

7.7
Leftovers

The Ninja French Door Premier is a good choice for reheating leftovers. It preheats quickly, so you don't have to wait long before popping in leftover chicken wings or day-old pizza, and there's lots of space in the cooking chamber for larger dishes. Once this toaster oven reaches your chosen setting, it maintains a very stable, uniform temperature throughout the entire cooking chamber, helping evenly heat your food without drying it out. Your recipes aren't likely to burn either, since it rarely overshoots the selected temperature.

Pros
  • Wide, fairly tall cooking chamber.

  • Maintains a uniform, consistent temperature.

  • Rarely overshoots temperature setting.

  • Preheats quickly.

Cons
  • Only two tray positions.

8.5
Baking

The Ninja French Door Premier delivers excellent baking performance. The temperature is uniform throughout the oven, so your baked goods cook at the same rate regardless of where you place them or which rack position you use. The oven also maintains a temperature close to your chosen setting, rarely overshooting it. This temperature stability helps ensure your cookies and cakes don't dry out or start to burn before they're fully cooked.

Pros
  • Maintains a uniform, consistent temperature.

  • Rarely overshoots temperature setting.

Cons
None
7.4
Air Frying

The Ninja French Door Premier is satisfactory for air frying. It cooks most of your food to a crispy golden brown, but it leaves a significant portion mushy and undercooked, while also burning a few pieces. It air fries faster than most other options, so your crispy meals and snacks will be ready in no time.

Pros
  • Air fries most of your food evenly.

  • Air fries very quickly.

Cons
  • Leaves a significant portion undercooked when air frying.

7.6
Toasting

The Ninja French Door Premier is good for toasting. It toasts very evenly with four slices, though one side comes out darker than the other. At maximum capacity, these results are amplified. It still browns the bread's surface very evenly, but one side comes out significantly darker than the other. It toasts fairly quickly, though plenty of options can toast faster.

Pros
  • Toasts evenly.

Cons
  • Some options toast more quickly.

7.9
Cooking Capacity

The Ninja French Door Premier offers a very good amount of space to cook with. The cooking chamber is wide enough for six slices of toast or a 12-inch pizza, which also gives you plenty of space to spread food out for crispier results when air frying. There's enough usable height for items that are a bit taller, like stuffed chicken breasts or a batch of homemade dinner rolls. While there are only two rack positions, this still gives you some additional flexibility.

Pros
  • Wide, fairly tall cooking chamber.

Cons
  • Only two tray positions.

    Popular Toaster Oven Comparisons

The Ninja French Door Premier is a large combination toaster oven that also works as a convection oven and air fryer. Like other toaster ovens from the brand, this model delivers impressive multipurpose performance. This model, the Ninja Foodi DT201, and the Ninja Flip SP151, for example, all provide very even toasting with four slices of bread, excellent temperature stability, which is a factor for producing well-cooked baked goods and properly reheated leftovers, and decent or good air-frying performance. Although it doesn't air fry quite as evenly as those other Ninja toaster ovens, it finishes cooking faster than either. In fact, it air fries faster than most other toaster ovens, including the Cuisinart TOA-70, and even rivals the fastest basket-style air fryers.

    Ninja Foodi DT201

    Track

The Ninja Foodi DT201 and the Ninja French Door Premier FO101 offer really similar overall performance, but they have different strengths to consider. Go for the Foodi if you make a lot of toast, since it leaves each slice more evenly browned on both sides. It also has a larger cooking chamber with four rack positions, making it a good option if you need a lot of capacity. Get the French Door Premier if you want a fast toaster oven. It preheats, toasts, and air fries faster. It also takes up less counter space while still offering a good amount of capacity.

    Ninja Flip SP151

    Track

The Ninja French Door Premier FO101 and the Ninja Flip SP151 offer very similar performance, but while the differences between them are minor, there are a few to consider. The biggest difference between these models is size. While they have similarly sized countertop footprints, the Flip has a space-saving trick: you can flip it up when not in use. It's the better choice if you're short on space, while the French Door Premier is the better bet if you need more vertical space to cook taller items. Beyond that, the Flip preheats quicker and toasts a bit more evenly, while the French Door Premier is more versatile and easier to clean. Ultimately, though, the differences aren't major, and most users can choose based on size.

    Hamilton Beach Sure-Crisp 31196FG

    Track

The Ninja French Door Premier FO101 offers better performance than the Hamilton Beach Sure-Crisp 31196FG, but it's also more expensive, so you may want either depending on what you're looking for. Choose the Hamilton Beach if you want a relatively simple, inexpensive toaster oven for baking or reheating leftovers, since it preheats quickly and maintains a very stable temperature. It also toasts very evenly, but more slowly than the Ninja. Go for the Ninja if you're looking for a toaster oven that offers good multi-purpose performance, including air frying. It performs well for baking, toasting, and reheating leftovers, and its fan is much stronger than that of the Hamilton Beach, which likely contributes to faster, more even air frying.

Breville the Smart Oven Air Fryer Compact

    Track

The Ninja French Door Premier FO101 is a better toaster oven than the Breville the Smart Oven Air Fryer Compact. The Ninja offers better performance in nearly every area. It preheats, toasts, and air fries faster, maintains a more stable temperature, and toasts more evenly. The Breville is easier to clean and air fries more evenly, but it takes much longer, and ultimately, these strengths don't outweigh the Ninja's superior multi-purpose performance.
