The Eureka Mighty Mite is a budget-friendly canister vacuum. It's a corded, bagged design with a very simple, straight-suction floorhead. It has two separate friction-fit extension wand pieces, allowing you to adjust its height. Surprisingly, for a vacuum in its class, it features a powerful 12-amp motor. There's a relatively spartan tool assortment, consisting only of a crevice tool and a combination upholstery tool/hard-bristle brush.

Our Verdict

7.6
House

The Eureka Mighty Mite is a good option for a house. It's surprisingly powerful, and its corded canister design allows you to clean your entire home without concern for runtime. Its straight-suction floorhead easily sucks up fine material on bare floors and medium and large material on carpets. However, the floorhead pushes around medium and large debris on bare floors, and its low agitation on carpets means you'll have to make several passes to lift deeply embedded fine material. Unfortunately, the filter performance is inadequate, as the bag filter allows significant quantities of dust to pass through and out of the exhaust, leading to poor air quality and dust scattering throughout the room. At least disposing of the sealed bag effectively removes all the retained dust without making a mess. Additionally, the lack of agitation makes it difficult to remove pet hair from carpets.

Pros
  • Powerful.

  • Easily picks up fine material on hard floors.

  • Easily picks up medium and large debris on carpets.

  • Dirtbag can be sealed and disposed of without disturbing dust.

Cons
  • No HEPA filter, dust particles pass right through bag filter in operation.

  • Pushes around medium and large material on bare floors.

  • Difficult to pull up deeply embedded fine debris in carpet.

  • Low agitation straight suction floorhead very ineffective on pet hair on carpet.

6.5
Small Apartment

The Eureka Mighty Mite is an okay choice for a small apartment. This fairly small, light, corded canister vacuum won't have a problem getting around tight apartments, and you can tuck it away into a fairly small space when you're done cleaning. Carpet and bare floor pickup performance is decent for the most part. However, its straight suction floorhead plows around medium and large debris on hard floors, and its lack of agitation means it can't lift fine material embedded in carpet, and barely moves pet hair at all. Additionally, this vacuum has poor filtration, which negatively impacts air quality. Its dirtbag is so porous that it blows a lot of dust straight out of the exhaust, into the air, and onto everything. At least emptying the sealed dirtbag keeps the dust well-contained, though.

Pros
  • Easily picks up fine material on hard floors.

  • Easily picks up medium and large debris on carpets.

  • Dirtbag can be sealed and disposed of without disturbing dust.

Cons
  • No HEPA filter, dust particles pass right through bag filter in operation.

  • Pushes around medium and large material on bare floors.

  • Difficult to pull up deeply embedded fine debris in carpet.

  • Low agitation straight suction floorhead very ineffective on pet hair on carpet.

6.8
Stairs

The Eureka Mighty Mite is adequate for stairs. It's a lightweight vacuum, and while it doesn't have a significantly long cord or hose range, it can cover a flight of stairs. It offers decent pickup on both bare and carpeted areas, but the straight suction floorhead plows around medium and large debris on bare surfaces and lacks agitation to lift embedded fine material and pet hair on carpets. Its worst issue in a cramped stairwell is its poorly-performing filter, which blows dust right through the exhaust, into the air, and all over the stairs.

Pros
  • Easily picks up fine material on hard floors.

  • Easily picks up medium and large debris on carpets.

Cons
  • Somewhat short range.
  • No HEPA filter, dust particles pass right through bag filter in operation.

  • Pushes around medium and large material on bare floors.

  • Difficult to pull up deeply embedded fine debris in carpet.

7.7
Cars

The Eureka Mighty Mite is good for cars. This vacuum is lightweight and easily portable. Since its wand is made of two pieces, you can easily shorten it to reach more difficult areas. While it doesn't have the longest cord or hose, you can store its tools and brushes onboard, so you don't have to keep going back to grab more parts. Automotive carpet pickup is decent due to its strong suction, although you may need to make a few passes to remove fine debris that is embedded. Pet hair removal is easy with the mini brush tool. The vacuum is very easy to maintain, and it can be stored in a fairly compact space. The build quality is passable for an entry-level vacuum, making it sturdy enough to last.

Pros
  • Lightweight construction.
  • Outstandingly low maintenance needs.
  • Does a great job of cleaning up pet hair on upholstery using its mini brush tool.

Cons
  • Somewhat short range.
  • Difficult to pull up deeply embedded fine debris in carpet.

7.0
Bare Floor Pickup

The Eureka Mighty Mite is decent for bare floors. It easily picks up finer material on this type of surface. That said, its straight suction floorhead is too low to the ground to pass over medium and bulky debris, so it plows it around and requires you to pick up the floorhead repeatedly as you clean.

Pros
  • Easily picks up fine material on hard floors.

Cons
  • Pushes around medium and large material on bare floors.

6.8
Carpet Pickup

The Eureka Mighty Mite offers satisfactory pickup performance on carpets. It has no issue picking up medium and large debris on any kind of carpet, but its straight-suction floorhead barely provides any agitation, leaving embedded fine material behind. You'll have to make several passes.

Pros
  • Easily picks up medium and large debris on carpets.

Cons
  • Difficult to pull up deeply embedded fine debris in carpet.

5.4
Pet Hair Pickup

The Eureka Mighty Mite delivers sub-par pet hair pickup performance. The straight-suction floorhead hardly agitates carpets at all, so most pet hair remains on the carpet, and it even gets pressed in deeper. By contrast, vacuuming pet hair on upholstered furniture with the mini brush tool is highly effective, as the brush effectively picks up almost all pet hair. However, hair tends to accumulate in the bristles, so you'll need to remove it regularly.

Pros
  • Does a great job of cleaning up pet hair on upholstery using its mini brush tool.

Cons
  • Low agitation straight suction floorhead very ineffective on pet hair on carpet.

  • Hair clogs bristles in mini brush tool, requiring regular removal while vacuuming.

4.9
Air Quality

The Eureka Mighty Mite has a bad impact on air quality. The dirtbag is so porous that it allows most dust particles to pass right through it and out of the exhaust, resulting in poor air quality and scattering dust throughout your living space. Fortunately, emptying this vacuum is much cleaner. You can seal the dirtbag and dispose of it without kicking up much dust at all.

Pros
  • Dirtbag can be sealed and disposed of without disturbing dust.

Cons
  • No HEPA filter, dust particles pass right through bag filter in operation.

    Popular Vacuum Comparisons

The Eureka Mighty Mite 3670M is a budget-level canister vacuum designed for cleaning bare floors, such as garages. It's about the most powerful vacuum you can buy in its price class; its suction power rivals that of the much more expensive Miele Complete C3 Alize. The Eureka's straight suction floorhead isn't ideal for carpets; the upright Kenmore Intuition Bagged is a more carpet-oriented competitor with a height-adjustable floorhead and a powered brushroll. However, the greatest issue with the Eureka Mighty Mite is its dirtbag. It's so porous that it lets large amounts of dust pass straight through to the exhaust. The Kenmore doesn't have such a problem since it has a HEPA filter dirtbag. You can even get better filtration with a bagless filter in the budget Wyze Cordless Vacuum S.

    BISSELL Zing Bagless Canister

The Eureka Mighty Mite and the BISSELL Zing Bagless Canister have different strengths. The Eureka is a bagged canister vacuum that offers improved bare floor performance, reduced maintenance requirements, lower recurring costs, and a slightly lighter construction. The bagless BISSELL feels slightly sturdier and performs better on both low- and high-pile carpets.

    BISSELL Zing Bagged Canister

The Eureka Mighty Mite is superior to the BISSELL Zing Bagged Canister. The Eureka is a little easier to maintain, performs noticeably better on low-pile carpets and bare floors, and has lower recurring costs with a longer range. Conversely, the BISSELL deals with finer debris on high-pile carpets more effectively.

    Miele Classic C1

The Miele Classic C1 is a more versatile canister vacuum than the Eureka Mighty Mite. The Miele feels better built, is easier to maintain, and offers a wide variety of convenience features, including a self-winding power cord and a tool clip that sits at the base of its wand. It also has a more powerful motor and is more maneuverable despite its heavier weight. However, the Eureka is still a good choice if you're looking for an inexpensive alternative that weighs less and occupies less space when not in use.

    Eureka Whirlwind Bagless Canister

The Eureka Whirlwind Bagless Canister and the Eureka Mighty Mite are similarly performing canister vacuums. The Whirlwind feels better built and incurs lower recurring costs due to its bagless design. However, the Mighty Mite has more tools, is a bit more portable, and has a longer range. User maintenance is much easier, and its dirtbag holds more debris. Both vacuums have similar straight-suction heads that struggle with larger debris.

    Debris Pickup
    7.0
    Hard Floor Pickup

This vacuum's performance on hard floors is decent. While its relatively potent suction motor allows it to easily lift away finer debris like sand on this surface type, its floorhead sits too low to the ground to allow it to pass over large debris like cereal or medium-sized debris like rice, causing it to push it around instead of passing over it so that the vacuum can suck it up. You'll have to pick the floorhead up and set it down on top of the piled debris to pick it up. Some medium and large debris also gets stuck in the floorhead, which falls back onto the floor when you turn off the vacuum and pick up the floorhead.

    7.0
    High-Pile Carpet Pickup

Performance on high-pile carpet is decent. It does a fairly good job of dealing with medium and large-sized debris, such as rice or cereal, on this surface type. However, its straight-suction head doesn't provide quite enough surface agitation to lift away finer debris that has been embedded deeper in high-pile carpet fibers within a single back-and-forth pass.

    6.5
    Low-Pile Carpet Pickup

This vacuum provides passable performance on low-pile carpet. Aside from a small amount of material that may be left along walls and corners, it's quite effective in handling medium-sized and large debris, such as rice or sand. That said, you'll need to make an extra pass or two to deal with finer debris, such as sand that has been embedded within the carpet fibers.

    4.0
    Pet Hair Pickup

This vacuum does a bad job of dealing with pet hair on low-pile carpet. Its floorhead doesn't provide enough surface agitation to dislodge hair that has been pressed deeply into carpet fibers.

    8.0
    Pet Hair Furniture Performance
    Sofa Pickup Post Test

This vacuum does a great job of handling pet hair on furniture with its mini brush tool. This attachment is very effective in collecting small and long strands alike, but you'll need to suck up any hair that gets stuck in its bristles pretty regularly. Its light weight makes it easy to maneuver on this surface.

    Cracks
    Wood Cracks Post Test

This vacuum does a decent job of dealing with debris in medium-depth and shallow cracks; however, you may want to attach its crevice tool for cleaning deeper cracks.

The Eureka Mighty Mite 3670M has mediocre build quality. It's completely made of plastic, which gives it a somewhat cheap appearance, but most of it is fairly sturdy. However, while it's easy to assemble all of its parts, the wand could fall apart if not properly clipped together.

    User Maintenance

This vacuum is outstandingly easy to maintain. It doesn't have a brushroll, and the manual doesn't state that the vacuum head needs to be maintained either.

    • Dirt compartment: You can access this part by removing the hose from the canister and opening the lid. The bag features arrows to indicate that it should be closed after removal, preventing debris from spilling out. The bag needs to be emptied when full.
    • Pre-motor filter: The pre-motor filter is located behind the dirtbag. The manual doesn't specify further instructions beyond cleaning when needed. You can wash this filter if necessary.

If you wash any part with water, it's recommended that you air-dry it for 24 hours before using it again.

    Bag Part Number60295C

This vacuum has one main recurring cost: its dirtbag. This part needs to be replaced when full and can be purchased directly from Eureka's website. The pre-motor filter won't need replacing as long as it's well-maintained. That said, if you're often cleaning fine debris, such as plaster dust or powder, the manual recommends changing the bag and filter more frequently. If you're looking for a budget-friendly vacuum that doesn't use a dirtbag that needs to be regularly replaced, look at the BISSELL Zing Bagless Canister.

    Maneuverability
    Alternative Configuration

This vacuum has good maneuverability. The vacuum head and handle are very light. As the wand is in two pieces, you need to make sure they're properly aligned; otherwise, it could be harder to maneuver. The wand has a good reach to get under couches and tables, but you may need to crouch slightly to keep the vacuum head from lifting off the floor. It's easy to move around electrical cords and to clean furniture thanks to its tools. Long tassels from a rug could get stuck on the head, though.

The Eureka Mighty Mite has an acceptable range. Its cord and hose lengths aren't particularly long. While you may not have a problem if you're just cleaning your garage, if you have more space to cover, you may need to change outlets more frequently. If you're looking for a cordless vacuum that's well-suited for shop cleaning, consider the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 3-in-1 Backpack Vacuum Kit.

The Eureka Mighty Mite's filter is poor. It uses a non-HEPA bag filter, which is quite porous and lets most dust particles pass right through its exhaust. This will create poor air quality as you vacuum and deposit dust throughout your room as it settles out.

Aftermarket third-party HEPA filter bags exist for this vacuum, as well as a HEPA filter cartridge that fits over the exhaust of certain models. These alternatives may help improve performance, but we haven't tested them.

    8.0
    Air Quality During Emptying

Emptying this bagged vacuum doesn't impact air quality. You can push a cardboard flap behind a rubber seal to seal the dirtbag and dispose of it. Almost all the dust remains in the bag, except for a few stray particles. This won't impact air quality or deposit dust around your living space.
