The Levoit Vital Pet Pro is an air purifier designed for small to medium-sized spaces, with several features aimed at pet owners. It combines a U-shaped air inlet with an Auto-Clean system that automatically brushes pet hair and other large debris from the pre-filter into a removable dust compartment to minimize routine maintenance. It also includes a three-stage filtration system with an activated carbon filter intended to help reduce household odors, along with an air quality sensor for automatic speed adjustment, and smartphone app connectivity.
Our Verdict
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro is a decent choice if you have pets at home, especially if shedding is an ongoing battle. Its pet-focused design is built to make your life easier, with a U-shaped air inlet that captures pet hair and an Auto-Clean system that cuts down on how often you'll need to clean the pre-filter yourself. It also runs very quietly at lower fan speeds, so you won't have to worry about it startling noise-sensitive pets, and you can leave it running throughout the day or overnight without it becoming a distraction. Keep in mind that it's best suited to small and medium-sized rooms; if you're trying to clear pet hair and dander in a larger, open-concept space, it'll struggle to keep up.
Very quiet operation at lower fan speeds.
Auto-Clean system with a removable dust compartment.
Pet focused U-shaped air inlet minimizes the risk of hair clogging.
Not powerful enough for larger open-concept spaces.
Sleep mode is only available through the companion app.
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro is a great fit for bedrooms. On its lower fan speeds, it can keep up with most average-sized bedrooms while staying quiet enough to leave running overnight without disrupting your sleep. If you're a light sleeper, the app's Sleep mode runs even quieter than any of the fan speeds available on the unit itself, helping it fade into the background while you sleep, though it comes with reduced air-cleaning performance. You can also adjust settings and monitor air quality in the app, so you never have to leave the comfort of your bed. The display lights can also be turned off completely, so you won't have to deal with the glow from the unit while you're trying to fall asleep.
Very quiet operation at lower fan speeds.
Companion app with Auto mode and remote controls.
Auto-Clean system with a removable dust compartment.
Sleep mode is only available through the companion app.
Too large to fit on top of most nightstands and dressers.
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro has alright particle filtration performance. At its highest fan speed, it can effectively remove airborne particles like dust, pollen, and pet dander in all but the largest bedrooms, as well as smaller living rooms and home offices. It's not the best option, however, if you need to clear the air quickly in larger, open-concept spaces.
Delivers good air cleaning performance in small to medium-sized rooms.
Not powerful enough for larger open-concept spaces.
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro has a reasonably compact footprint that's easy to fit into most rooms. It doesn't take up much floor space beside a bed, desk, or sofa, making it easy to work into a bedroom, home office, or living room. That said, it's still large enough that placing it on a nightstand or dresser probably isn't the most practical.
Doesn't take up much floor space.
Too large to fit on top of most nightstands and dressers.

Popular Air Purifier Comparisons
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro is an air purifier designed for small- to medium-sized spaces, with a feature set geared toward pet owners. It shares its U-shaped air inlet with the Levoit Vital 200S, though the Vital 200S delivers stronger particle filtration and broader room coverage at the expense of a noticeably larger footprint. The Vital Pet Pro also doesn't have the clean air delivery rate to cover larger spaces as effectively as the Winix 5530, though the two take up a similar amount of floor space. Compared to the Coway Airmega 200M, the Vital Pet Pro offers a more feature-rich experience with smartphone app connectivity for remote control, air quality monitoring, and scheduling, all of which the Coway lacks. The Vital Pet Pro also has a boxier design than the cylindrical Blueair Blue Pure 511i Max, which has a smaller footprint that's easier to fit into tighter spaces.

The Levoit Vital 200S is the better air purifier overall compared to the Levoit Vital Pet Pro. Both share the same U-shaped air inlet and offer app connectivity, automatic fan adjustment, and similar day-to-day usability. However, the Vital 200S delivers stronger particle filtration and broader room coverage, making it a better choice for larger bedrooms and living spaces. The Vital Pet Pro, on the other hand, has a more compact footprint and includes an Auto-Clean system that brushes pet hair and other debris into a removable dust compartment, making it worth considering if reducing routine maintenance is your top priority.
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro and Coway Airmega 200M each have their own strengths. The Coway delivers stronger particle filtration and broader room coverage, making it the better choice if maximum air-cleaning performance is your priority. The Levoit, on the other hand, is more user-focused, with conveniences like smartphone app connectivity for remote control, scheduling, and air quality monitoring, along with an Auto-Clean system that makes it easier to live with day to day. It also runs noticeably quieter at its higher fan speeds.
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro and Blueair Blue Pure 511i Max perform very similarly overall, with the biggest differences coming down to design and features. The Levoit has a boxier design and a larger footprint, while the cylindrical Blueair is easier to fit into tighter spaces and alongside furniture. The Blueair also offers interchangeable fabric outer sleeves, making it more likely to blend naturally into a wider variety of home décors. The Levoit, meanwhile, maintains stronger air-cleaning performance at quieter fan speeds and is more tailored to pet owners, with a U-shaped air inlet and an Auto-Clean system that's handy for homes with shedding pets.
The Winix 5530 is the better air purifier compared to the Levoit Vital Pet Pro. It delivers substantially stronger particle filtration and a higher clean air delivery rate, allowing it to clean rooms nearly double the size while maintaining better performance at quieter fan speeds. Both offer smartphone app connectivity and automatic fan adjustment, and the two have similarly sized footprints. That said, the Vital Pet Pro is quieter at its top fan speeds, and its U-shaped air inlet and Auto-Clean system give it more to offer pet owners dealing with shedding.
Test Results
The unit features a detachable power cord rather than a permanently attached one.
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro uses a touch-sensitive control panel for adjusting its settings. The onboard air quality indicator uses the following color-coded LEDs to indicate current air quality:
- Blue: Very Good
- Green: Good
- Orange: Moderate
- Red: Poor
The unit itself provides access to three fan speeds, Auto mode, and the option to turn off all display lights by holding the Fan Speed button for three seconds. While there's no remote control, the companion smartphone app allows you to adjust settings and monitor air quality. It also unlocks an additional Sleep mode with a lower fan speed than any of the three settings available on the unit itself. See the companion app in action.
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro uses a three-stage filtration system consisting of a washable Pre-Filter, a combined main particle filter, and an activated carbon filter. Unlike a conventional pre-filter, the debris caught by the first-stage filter is automatically pushed down into a removable dust compartment by the Auto-Clean system, reducing the amount of routine maintenance required. Check out this video to see how the Auto-Clean mechanism travels across the pre-filter to sweep debris into the dust compartment. When the dust compartment fills up, you simply remove it, empty it, and reinstall it. You can see how that process works in this video.
Levoit recommends manually cleaning the pre-filter about once a month as needed and replacing the combined main and activated carbon filter every six months, though the exact replacement interval will vary depending on your usage and environment. You can purchase replacement filters directly through Levoit's website.
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro's maximum clean air delivery rate is adequate. At its highest fan speed, it can effectively remove airborne particles such as dust, pollen, and pet dander in all but the largest bedrooms, as well as smaller living rooms, kitchens, and home offices. It's less suited to larger, open-concept spaces, where air clearing will take noticeably longer.
The Levoit Vital Pet Pro has okay low-noise particle-filtration performance. While keeping fan noise relatively low, it can effectively clean the air in smaller rooms like bedrooms, home offices, or nurseries. If you need to cover a larger space or clear airborne particles more quickly, you'll need to switch to one of its louder fan settings.
This air purifier delivers fantastic noise performance. On its lower settings, it operates quietly enough to fade into the background, making it well-suited for bedrooms and living spaces. At its highest fan speed, however, it becomes clearly audible, producing a sound comparable to the hum of a refrigerator or moderate rainfall. Even so, it remains quieter than most other air purifiers at maximum power and is unlikely to be a nuisance.
