The Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 is a 3-in-1 air purifier, space heater, and fan. It's a simplified, entry-level model in Dyson's lineup of combo appliances, and it uses a basic two-stage filtration system consisting of a HEPA-rated filter with a sheet of activated carbon. It also features an air quality sensor that measures PM2.5 and PM10. Unlike its higher-end siblings, it lacks VOC monitoring, temperature and humidity tracking, and a dedicated formaldehyde sensor. Otherwise, it shares the same functionality as other models in the HP lineup, including automatic fan speed adjustment and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. You can control the device with the included remote control, the MyDyson app (which also allows you to monitor your home's air quality), or with your voice via Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri integrations.
Our Verdict
The Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 is a sub-par choice for pet owners. It doesn't circulate enough air within an average sized-room in a reasonable time to effectively trap fine particles like pet dander, leaving your home's air quality poor. As a result, it's really only suited to very small spaces. Moreover, the carbon sheet in its air filter is insufficient to combat odors, such as those from your cat's litter box. The one good point is its low operating noise, particularly at the lowest fan speed; if you have a noise-sensitive pet, they won't be disturbed. Just note that using the heater increases the noise substantially across all fan speeds, so this will be more of a nuisance.
Quiet operation on lowest fan speed.
Noisy operation when using the heater.
Terrible particle filtration performance.
Only suited to very small spaces.
The Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 is a decent option for bedrooms, particularly small ones. Its quiet operation ensures you won't be disturbed at the lowest fan speed, making it a good choice for light sleepers or for a home office where you take many video calls. That said, using the heater significantly increases the noise at minimum fan speed, and its particle filtration rate is only sufficient for a small room, so don't expect it to be very effective anywhere else in your home.
Quiet operation on lowest fan speed.
Flexible operation via app, voice commands, or remote control.
Noisy operation when using the heater.
Terrible particle filtration performance.
The Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 delivers poor particle filtration performance. Even at its highest fan speed, it only circulates and cleans enough air to be suitable for a very small room. Unless you need a single device for heating, cooling, and air purifying, there are many better alternatives.
Terrible particle filtration performance.
Only suited to very small spaces.

Popular Air Purifier Comparisons
The Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 is the entry-level model in Dyson's 3-in-1 air purifier, space heater, and fan lineup. Unfortunately, despite being a premium device, it offers extremely limited air-purifying functionality. Like with other Dyson HP devices, such as the higher-end Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP07 and mid-range Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link HP02, particle filtration is only sufficient in small rooms, like an extra guest bedroom or quaint home office.
If you're looking for an air purifier for a larger space, check out the Levoit Vital 200S. It's somewhat bulkier but delivers a much higher clean air delivery rate, offers similar automatic fan adjustment and particle monitoring, and operates at a similar noise level to the HP1, so your furry friends won't be bothered by it. Alternatively, if you're in the market for a premium device, the Nu-Wave OxyPure runs circles around the Dyson; just know it's much bulkier, and its boxy design may not blend as seamlessly into your home's decor.
