The Dyson HushJet is Dyson's most compact air purifier, designed for smaller spaces like bedrooms and home offices. It features a two-stage filtration system: a 360-degree electrostatic filter that captures airborne particles and a separate activated carbon filter that's meant to reduce/trap odors and gases. Like other Dyson air purifiers, it includes a built-in air quality sensor, has connectivity through the MyDyson smartphone app, and is compatible with major voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. However, unlike the models in Dyson's TP and HP lineups, it works only as an air purifier, not as a fan/air purifier or fan/heater/air purifier combo unit.
Our Verdict
The Dyson HushJet purifier is a decent option for pet owners. It delivers satisfactory clean air delivery performance at its highest fan setting, meaning it can reduce airborne particles like pet dander at a steady rate, but it isn't especially fast compared to other air purifiers with stronger performance. At lower fan speeds, its particle removal rate drops off, so it may take longer to noticeably improve air quality if you're prioritizing quieter operation. As a result, it's best suited for smaller spaces where it can maintain air quality over time. On the plus side, it runs very quietly, even at higher fan speeds, so it's less likely to disturb noise-sensitive pets.
Impressively quiet overall operation.
Dedicated Sleep mode further reduces noise and dims the display for minimal disruption.
Limited onboard controls, with a small display and no remote, so most adjustments require the app.
Maximum clean air delivery rate is insufficient for bigger spaces.
The Dyson HushJet is great for bedrooms. It operates very quietly, especially at lower fan speeds, which helps prevent sleep disturbances and makes it practical to keep it on overnight. Using it in a lower, quieter fan speed reduces its already limited particle filtration rate, but it's sufficient for maintaining air quality in a typical bedroom-sized space without having to push the fan to higher, louder settings. It's dedicated Sleep mode dims the display before turning it off entirely, which helps avoid unwanted light in a dark room.

Compact form fits easily on a nightstand or small table without taking up much space.
Limited onboard controls, with a small display and no remote, so most adjustments require the app.
Maximum clean air delivery rate is insufficient for bigger spaces.
The Dyson HushJet has a satisfactory particle filtration rate. It removes airborne particles at a steady pace and works best in smaller spaces like bedrooms and home offices, where it can maintain air quality over time. It isn't well-suited for larger or open-concept areas, where it will struggle to clean the air within a reasonable timeframe. Running it at quieter settings will also slow down how quickly it can remove airborne particles.
Impressively quiet overall operation.
Maximum clean air delivery rate is insufficient for bigger spaces.

Popular Air Purifier Comparisons
The Dyson HushJet is a compact air purifier intended for use in smaller spaces, with a focus on quiet operation, and it's well-suited for bedrooms or home offices where minimal noise is a priority. As Dyson's entry-level air purifier, its focused design means it outperforms the brand's combo units like the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1, which trades some air cleaning capability for its added heating and fan functions. Still, it does hit a ceiling in larger rooms, where something like the Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde BP04 would be a better choice. In terms of raw purification performance, it broadly lands in the same territory as more affordable options like the Levoit Core 300S, which also benefits from more physical controls and a larger onboard interface. On top of that, skipping the companion app means losing access to many of its core features, which is a notable drawback compared to alternatives that offer more comprehensive physical controls.

Test Results
The display is minimal, showing little beyond the current fan speed and a color-coded air quality indicator, which shows:
- Green: Good
- Yellow: Fair
- Orange: Poor
- Red: Bad
Onboard controls don't go much further either, with just a power button, a Sleep mode button, and an info button that cycles through filter life. There's no remote control, and the unit itself is limited to four fan settings. Anything beyond that, including finer speed adjustments, scheduling, and timers, requires installing and using the MyDyson app. Sleep mode dims the display before shutting it off after a few seconds, and brightness can't be manually adjusted outside of that.
The Dyson HushJet uses a two-stage filtration system comprising a 360-degree electrostatic filter for capturing airborne particles and a separate activated carbon filter intended for reducing odors and gases. The electrostatic filter works by using a porous, charged design that attracts and traps particles without clogging up as quickly as traditional filters, helping it last longer and use less energy over time. The activated carbon filter is intended to work by adsorbing gases and odors onto its surface, helping reduce smells and other unwanted air pollutants.
Neither filter is washable. The activated carbon filter is recommended for replacement every 12 months, while the electrostatic filter is rated to last up to five years, depending on usage. Replacement filters are available directly from Dyson for both the activated carbon filter and the electrostatic filter.
Dyson doesn't clearly state whether the electrostatic filter is HEPA-rated. It's advertised as capable of trapping up to 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, which aligns with HEPA standards, but it isn't consistently labeled or marketed as such. It's also worth noting that activated carbon filters generally need a significant amount of carbon material to have a meaningful impact on odors and gaseous contaminants; you can read more about that in our air purifier performance research.
The Dyson HJ10's maximum clean air delivery rate is satisfactory. At its highest fan speed, it handles smaller enclosed spaces like bedrooms and home offices well, turning over the air regularly and maintaining quality over time. In a larger room or open-concept living area, it won't have enough output to clean the air quickly, especially during high-pollution events like cooking or exhaust fumes from heavy traffic outside.
This air purifier's low-noise particle filtration rate is mediocre. At quieter fan speed settings, it works fine in smaller bedrooms or offices when left running continuously. Still, it will struggle to noticeably improve air quality in larger living areas or more polluted environments without increasing the fan speed.
The Dyson HushJet delivers remarkable noise performance. It stays exceptionally quiet across its fan range, making it easy to run in bedrooms or living spaces without becoming a distraction. Even at its highest setting, it produces noise comparable to moderate rainfall, fading into the background without interfering with conversation or nearby activity.
