The Levoit Core 200S is a budget-friendly air purifier with a compact design. It sits below the newer Levoit Core 300S in the company's lineup, with an even more compact body and less powerful motor. It also lacks an air quality sensor, though it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and you can control it remotely via the VeSync smartphone app.

Our Verdict

6.4
Pets

The Levoit Core 200S is decent for pet owners. It does a good job of capturing the smallest of airborne particles, like cat dander, though it isn't the best option for larger spaces. It also operates quietly, which is good if your pet is sensitive to louder noises.

Pros
  • Highly compact design.
  • Fairly quiet overall operation.

Cons
  • Slow air cleaning rate.
  • No air quality sensor.
7.2
Bedroom

The Levoit Core 200S is a good option for bedrooms. Its compact size lets you set it up almost anywhere in your bedroom. It also operates reasonably quietly, especially at lower fan speeds, and it features a display-off function, so you won't have to deal with any small bright lights while trying to get some sleep. Conversely, the air purifier also features a night light function.

Pros
  • Highly compact design.
  • Fairly quiet overall operation.

  • Companion app integration.
Cons
  • Slow air cleaning rate.
  • No air quality sensor.
6.0
Particle Filtration Rate

The Levoit Core 200S' particle filtration rate is mediocre. This is a highly compact unit with a low-powered fan, so this isn't necessarily unexpected. It's best suited for dorm rooms or smaller offices and bedrooms, and it'll struggle to operate effectively in any space larger than that.

Pros
  • Fairly quiet overall operation.

Cons
  • Slow air cleaning rate.

    1.  Updated Feb 11, 2026:

We've updated the text in this review to reflect new tests added with version 1.1 of our test bench.

    2.  Updated Feb 11, 2026: Version 1.1 of our air purifier testing methodology provides a more representative summary of unit performance, with a revised Particle Filtration Rate test conducted in a better-sealed environment and a more reliable means of generating consistently sized particulate matter. We've also included a parameter for the machine's maximum recommended room size. For a more detailed breakdown of the changes made, see our full changelog.
    3.  Updated Nov 04, 2025: Version 1.0.2 of our Air Purifier Test Bench rectifies calculation errors in our existing Particle Filtration Rate test to provide more representative results of some units. For a more detailed breakdown of the changes made, see our full changelog.
    4.  Updated Oct 31, 2024: Converted to Test Bench 1.0.1.

    Differences Between Sizes And Variants

This air purifier is available in three color variants: 'Black,' 'Gray,' and 'Cream White.' We tested the 'Cream White' model.

Let us know in the comments if you come across another variant of this air purifier.

    Popular Air Purifier Comparisons

This is a basic, budget-friendly air purifier with a compact design. The Core 200S is smaller than the mid-range Levoit Core 300S and lacks that model's built-in air quality sensor, which would allow automatic fan speed adjustment. However, it offers good overall filtration performance, particularly for such a compact device, and is well-suited for use in smaller residences where space is limited.

The Levoit Core 300 and Levoit Core 200S each have their own advantages. The Core 300 is the bigger, more powerful machine that's a little more efficient in larger spaces. Meanwhile, only the Core 200S has Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing you to make remote settings adjustments or set operating schedules.

Tapping the 'Display Off' button turns off all of the device's indicator lights and the night light. On that subject, the night light offers two brightness levels.

The VeSync companion app also lets you remotely adjust the fan speed, set operating schedules, and send filter-replacement reminders.

    Pellets

This air purifier has a three-stage filter system comprising an ultra-fine nylon pre-filter, the main filter layer, and a High-Efficiency Activated Carbon filter. You'll only need to clean the pre-filter with a soft dusting brush every two to four weeks.

You'll need to replace this filter assembly every six to eight months, and you can find a replacement here.

Recommended Room Size @ Max Fan Speed
    15.8 m² (170 ft²)

The Levoit Core 200S' max particle filtration rate is mediocre. Even at its highest fan speed setting, it's really only suited for use in smaller spaces like a home study, bedroom, or dorm room. It lacks the power to operate effectively in larger spaces like living areas.

    7.8
    Noise
    Noise @ Lowest Fan Speed
    33.6dBA
    Noise @ Highest Fan Speed
    54.7dBA

This air purifier is pretty quiet, all things considered. Its lowest fan speed setting produces a low hum that'll be masked by a TV or radio playing at a normal volume nearby. While it's certainly louder at its highest fan speed, it isn't a major nuisance, and it can be used in a normally quiet space like an office or study.
