The Dyson HEPA Big+Quiet Formaldehyde BP06 is a premium air purifier intended for larger spaces. It's effectively a simplified version of the more expensive Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde BP04/BP03, being geared more for use in commercial or public spaces like hotels and schools. The BP06 has two fan speed settings to the BP04/BP03's 10, no in-app connectivity, and no real-time fan speed adjustment feature. Otherwise, it's equipped with a similar three-stage HEPA 13 filtration system, though it doesn't have the BP04's activated K-Carbon filter as standard equipment.
Our Verdict
The Dyson BP06 is a good option for pet owners. Its H13 HEPA filtration system does a good job of sealing in finer airborne particles, and its powerful motor allows it to clean relatively large areas pretty quickly. Unfortunately, it has only two fan speed settings, and it makes considerably more noise in its slowest setting compared to alternatives with more adjustability. It also can't be operated while you're away from home, as it has no Wi-Fi connectivity.
- Good air purification performance.
- Impressive clean air delivery rate.
- HEPA filter has a long lifespan.
- Limited automation features.
- Noisier than alternatives.
- Only two fan speed settings.
The Dyson HEPA Big+Quiet Formaldehyde BP06 is only okay for bedroom use. The lack of a dedicated low-speed fan setting makes it pretty loud, and its bulky size makes it a challenge to fit in smaller bedrooms. On the upside, it does have a light sensor that automatically dims the display in dark rooms. Its overall air purification performance is also quite good.

Popular Air Purifier Comparisons
The Dyson HEPA Big+Quiet Formaldehyde is a premium air purifier intended for professional spaces. While it offers good overall air purification performance and has a sufficient clean air delivery rate to make it a suitable option for larger areas, it's very limited in features, especially for something this expensive. It has only two fan speeds, no Wi-Fi connectivity, and no remote control that would allow you to operate it from afar.
The Dyson HEPA Big+Quiet Formaldehyde BP06 is effectively a simplified version of the more expensive Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde BP04, being intended more for use in commercial or public areas. The BP04 has 10 fan speed settings compared to the BP06's two. The BP06 also lacks in-app connectivity, so you can't adjust settings remotely, and it's unable to change its fan speed in real time according to current pollutant levels. Otherwise, all models have the same three-stage HEPA 13 filtration system, though only the BP04 comes bundled with an activated K-Carbon filter, which is advertised to provide additional protection from NO₂ versus their standard activated carbon filter.
Test Results
This device's central display provides a far more limited overview of air quality than the one found on the Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde BP04/BP03. The BP06 can only show the device's current airflow setting and ambient CO₂ readings, which are color-coded based on current pollutant levels.
- Green: Good
- Yellow: Fair
- Orange: Poor
- Red: Bad
If you prefer a more hands-free experience, consider the Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max, which offers Wi-Fi connectivity, a companion smartphone app for remote control, scheduling, timers, and air quality monitoring.
This air purifier has a three-stage filter system comprised of a H13-grade HEPA filter with a separate mesh layer, along with an Activated Carbon layer for trapping odors and gases and a Selective Catalytic Oxidisation (SCO) filter with a formaldehyde sensor to trap and destroy formaldehyde particles.
The manufacturer doesn't issue any maintenance requirements for the filter system. That said, you'll need to replace the Activated Carbon filter every year, and you can find replacements here. Meanwhile, there's a slight divergence as far as the H13 HEPA filter is concerned. The user manual for the BP06 recommends changing the filter every ten years, while the filter's product page lists its lifespan as five years. In any case, replace the filter whenever you notice a downturn in overall device performance. You can find a replacement HEPA filter here.
The Selective Catalytic Oxidisation (SCO) filter isn't intended to be replaced and is meant to last throughout the device's lifespan.
This unit's particle filtration rate in its highest fan speed setting is good. It can operate effectively as a standalone option within medium-sized rooms, like most common living areas or dining rooms. That said, it's far from a market leader in this respect. Alternatives like the Rabbit Air A3 have an even higher max CADR and will be a better option for bigger spaces.
