JBL Xtreme 4 vs Xtreme 5

The JBL Xtreme 5 is an upgrade over the JBL Xtreme 4. The newer version has an improved IP68 rating and advertised drop-proofing, more bass output, and gets louder overall. However, this comes with an increase in size (and weight); the Xtreme 5 is still portable and comes with the same rugged carrying strap you get with the Xtreme 4, but you may not want the extra weight that comes with the enlarged design. There's also a shorter battery life of 21 hours on the newer version compared to 27.2 hours on the Xtreme 4. If neither the size nor the battery life is a dealbreaker, the Xtreme 5 is the easy pickup.
