LG B4 OLED
Samsung S90D OLED
The Samsung S90D OLED is better than the LG B4 OLED. They both look amazing in dark rooms due to their nearly perfect contrast, but the Samsung is noticeably brighter in HDR. The Samsung also has a much wider color gamut, giving it a more impactful HDR viewing experience. Regarding image processing, the Samsung model has much less banding in its HDR color gradients. Still, the LG has slightly better low-quality content smoothing, so streaming content looks a bit cleaner overall. The LG model supports Dolby Vision, while the Samsung instead supports the less widely used HDR10+ format. Finally, the Samsung is superior for PC gamers due to its four 4k @ 144Hz HDMI ports, while the LG is limited to 120Hz on its four ports.

Thanks for the feedback! I have a B4 as my main driver in the living and I love it too, it’s a great TV! There’s no denying it, though, although you might not see the difference with all content, the S90D definitely has brighter and more vivid colors. This won’t come out as much unless both TVs are in their most accurate modes, though, and even then it depends on the specific content you’re watching. Most shows and even movies don’t come anywhere close to reaching the max color saturation even on the B4, so the difference won’t be noticeable.
I disagree with the movie rating being so low on the B4 vs the S90. In fact, the scores should be reversed. I bought a B4 a week ago and was amazed at the picture quality in Dolby Vision streaming. The S90D went on sale and I made the mistake of returning the B4 for the S90. After reinstalling and setting up the Sonos in my theater, I was disappointed with the difference. Despite your article, the S90 on HDR pales in comparison to the B4 in clarity, color and even brightness. I think you must be grading solely on gaming (which I don’t do) because for a movie theater, the LG B4 smokes the S90D. The B4 was also smoother in fast action movie scenes. We watched Extraction last night and the way the scenes jumped around it just wore my eyes out. The LG on the other hand did’t do that. There’s an independent YouTuber out there talking about how he could see the brightness and clarity difference between the C4 and the S90D at Costco. I could see it also but didn’t trust is bcz of reading your article. Your article says the S90 is brighter than the LG. If you mean paler, I could see that. But brighter, no way. So for anyone reading this, don’t be mislead. Samsung made a mistake by not going with Dolby Vision. Hopefully they will correct that. Until then, buy the LG for streaming movies. It’s the better tv by far for less $.
No, that’s just a quirky way the website renders the price variants, the B4 isn’t QD-OLED on any size. In each column it’s only the rows with a price tag and model code that exist in that size/panel variant. We’re aware of this issue and plan on making some tweaks to the way this is rendered, but it’ll take some time.
This comparison lists the LG B4 55, 65, and 77 as being QD-OLED however this is not listed anywhere on the B4 stand alone review page where it only lists WOLED. Is this accurate?
