The Novosbed is a mid-range foam mattress. It's the only mattress the company makes, but it's available in three firmness levels: Soft, Medium, and Firm. The Firm variant has a simple design, featuring a polyfoam support layer topped with transition and comfort layers of memory foam. Its cover is removeable and the top portion is machine-washable, which is rare for a mattress.

6.5Heavy Weight
The Novosbed mattress is not a good choice for side sleeping, regardless of your weight category. It offers mediocre pressure relief for heavier people, who compress the mattress most, but even side sleepers in this weight category will experience uncomfortable pressure on the arm and shoulder in this sleeping position. Average-weight and especially lighter sleepers won't sink far enough into the mattress for comfort, causing even more pressure to build up on the arm, shoulder, and hip. While the highly contouring upper layers provide some cushioning, it's not enough to make this very firm mattress comfortable for side sleepers.
Terrible pressure relief for lighter people.
Poor pressure relief for average-weight people.
Mediocre pressure relief for heavier people.

The Novosbed mattress is a decent option for back sleeping overall. It provides great support for lighter people, and it's nearly as supportive for average-weight people, making it well-suited to back sleepers in either weight category. Although it's not as supportive for heavier people, it still offers decent support for back sleepers in this weight category. It doesn't offer much pressure relief, so you may find that the lighter parts of your body aren't very well-cushioned, but the highly contouring comfort layers offset this effect somewhat.
Impressive support for lighter people.
Very good support for average-weight people.
Decent support for heavier people.
Poor pressure relief offers less cushioning for lighter parts of the body.

The Novosbed mattress is well-suited to most stomach sleepers. It offers impressive support for lighter people, ensuring your spine stays aligned when sleeping on your stomach, and its performance is nearly as good for average-weight stomach sleepers. While its performance is decent for heavier-weight stomach sleepers, if you fall into this weight category, you may need something more supportive to keep your back from arching in this position.
Impressive support for lighter people.
Very good support for average-weight people.
Poor pressure relief offers less cushioning for lighter parts of the body.
May not be supportive enough for heavier stomach sleepers.
The Novosbed mattress is passably durable. The upper comfort layer is made of good-quality memory foam, and the support layer is made of good-quality polyfoam, so both should resist sagging. However, the lower comfort and transition layers are both low-quality memory foam, impacting the mattress's overall longevity.
Uses some low-quality foam, which impacts durability.
The Novosbed mattress doesn't offer very good pressure relief. Heavier-weight sleepers, who compress the mattress most, get passable pressure relief, but it's still not ideal for side sleeping. It's much less conforming for lighter and average-weight sleepers, and won't provide nearly enough pressure relief for side sleepers in these weight categories. Instead, it'll create uncomfortable pressure on your shoulder and arm. You don't sink very far into this firm mattress, regardless of your weight, though its highly contouring feel helps cushion the lighter parts of your body, like your knees.
Highly contouring comfort layers help with pressure relief.
Terrible pressure relief for lighter people.
Poor pressure relief for average-weight people.
Mediocre pressure relief for heavier people.
The Novosbed mattress is supportive enough for most people. It delivers great support for lighter people and performs nearly as well for average-weight people, so it's a good choice for back and stomach sleepers in either weight category. It doesn't offer as much support for heavier people, who compress the mattress more, though it's still decent for back and stomach sleepers in this weight category.
Impressive support for lighter people.
Very good support for average-weight people.
Decent support for heavier people.
The Novosbed mattress delivers very good cooling. It's most effective at the beginning of the night, so it's a great choice if you have trouble falling asleep in the heat. However, its heat transfer slows down after the first hour. It's not quite cooling enough for hot sleepers, especially if you tend to wake up overheated later in the night.
Cooling enough for most people.
The Novosbed mattress provides very good motion dissipation. You feel most motion nearby, so even small movements, like your cat landing next to you, are noticeable. However, movement doesn't transfer much to other parts of the mattress, and it dissipates quickly, making it less likely to disturb or wake you.
Movement stays localized and doesn't last long, making it unlikely to wake you.
You feel movements nearby.
The Novosbed mattress offers good responsiveness. It springs back very quickly when you compress it, supporting your movements as you shift sleeping positions. However, it's not a bouncy option, likely because of its memory foam comfort and transition layers. This lack of bounce can feel somewhat sluggish, making it a bit harder to move around on the mattress's surface.
Responsiveness makes it easy to shift sleeping positions.
Lack of bounciness can make it feel sluggish.

Popular Mattress Comparisons
The Firm variant of the Novosbed is a foam mattress with a basic design; it has three layers of memory foam above a polyfoam support layer. It's an extremely firm mattress, even more so than the Sleep On Latex Pure Green Organic, but it's not as supportive overall. The Novosbed still offers great support for lighter-weight back and stomach sleepers, but unlike the Sleep on Latex, its support isn't as robust for heavier-weight sleepers. It doesn't offer as much pressure relief, either, so most side sleepers will find it uncomfortable. Like the Zinus Original Green Tea 2024, which has a similar design, it's highly contouring, without offering much of a sinking feel, so it molds closely to your body, but you still feel like you're sleeping 'on' and not 'in' it. Similar to the Puffy Lux, it offers a good balance of responsiveness and motion isolation, so it's easy to move around on, yet your sleeping partner's movements don't travel through the mattress. Generally speaking, it offers very good performance in most areas, though you'll want to be sure a very firm mattress is right for you before choosing this option.

The Boring Hybrid and the all-foam Novosbed each have benefits for different kinds of sleepers, but the Boring offers better performance in a few areas. The Novosbed delivers more robust support, making it a better choice for most back and stomach sleepers, while the Boring is better suited to side sleepers, thanks to its decent pressure relief performance. Although the Novosbed provides good motion dissipation, responsiveness, and cooling, the Boring outperforms it in each of these areas.
The Sleep On Latex Pure Green Organic is a better mattress than the Novosbed for most people. Both models are very firm and best suited to back and stomach sleepers, but the Sleep On Latex offers better support and pressure relief. It's also more responsive and provides better edge support, making it very easy to move around and get in and out of bed. It's a bit more cooling, too, which can make a big difference for hot sleepers, and it's more durable. The Novosbed isolates motion a little more effectively, but the difference shouldn't be enough to sway most people.
The Silk & Snow Mattress is a better option than the Novosbed for most people. The Novosbed is very firm, so it's a decent choice for back and stomach sleepers, but it lacks pressure relief, resulting in poor performance for side sleepers. The Silk & Snow, on the other hand, offers impressive performance for stomach sleepers, making it more versatile for partnered and combination sleepers. The Silk & Snow is more responsive, so it's easier to move around on, and it offers better motion isolation, so you also feel less motion across the mattress. It's cool enough for hot sleepers, too, and it's a little more durable.
The Tuft and Needle Mint is a better mattress than the Novosbed for most people. Both mattresses offer enough support for back and stomach sleepers, but the Tuft and Needle's pressure relief means that it also works well for side sleepers, making it more versatile for partnered and combination sleepers, too. The Tuft and Needle offers better responsiveness and motion dissipation as well, so it's easier to move around, and you feel less movement across the mattress. It's more cooling, too, making it the better choice for hot sleepers.
Test Results
This all-foam mattress is 29.3 cm (11.5"), so standard sheets easily fit.
The Firm variant of the Novosbed does have a firm feel. In fact, it's one of the firmest mattresses we've tested, making it best suited to back and stomach sleepers, particularly those in the average and lighter weight categories. It doesn't offer much pressure relief for side sleepers, and while heavier individuals will compress the mattress enough for mediocre pressure relief, most side sleepers, and even combination sleepers, will find this mattress too firm for comfort.
It doesn't offer much body conformity for most people. It's most conforming for heavier individuals, but still offers only mediocre performance, making it a less-than-ideal choice for heavier side sleepers. Its body conformity is significantly worse for average-weight and especially lighter sleepers. If you fall into either of these weight categories and sleep on your side, even just for part of the night, the firm surface will put too much pressure on your hip, shoulder, and arm for comfort.
The Novosbed delivers good support for most people. It's most supportive for lighter people, but it works almost as well for average-weight people, making it a great choice for back and stomach sleepers in these weight categories. Its performance is less impressive for heavier people who compress the mattress more, but it still offers decent support for heavier back and stomach sleepers.
This is not a bouncy mattress, which makes sense given its memory foam comfort and transition layers. While these layers push back a little more than most memory foam, it's not enough to add much bounce. This can make the mattress feel a bit more sluggish, though its responsiveness helps offset this effect.
This is a highly contouring mattress, but you don't sink into it very deeply. Most sleepers sink just through the first layer of memory foam and into the second, but not past it. This combination leaves you feeling like you're being tightly hugged, but like you're still sleeping on top of your mattress, not 'in' it.
Despite its memory foam comfort layers, this mattress is impressively responsive. The comfort layers offer more resilience than typical memory foam and, combined with the firm, resilient polyfoam support layer, allow the mattress to bounce back very quickly when you compress it. This makes it easy to move around and keeps you from feeling constricted.
It provides very good motion isolation. Although you feel even the smallest movements nearby, they're barely felt across the rest of the mattress, and dissipate very quickly. So, if your cat or dog hops right next to you on the bed, you'll feel it, but the motion won't last long. And when your partner shifts sleeping positions, you won't notice much from the other side of the bed. That said, if you sleep lightly and motion isolation is a priority, you might prefer a mattress with better performance, such as the Plank Extra Firm Luxe.
Although there's nothing extra reinforcing the sides, this mattress offers excellent edge support. The firm foam doesn't let you sink in very far, and while you sink a little more near the edges, it's not enough to create much of a ramp, so you feel secure even when sitting or sleeping right next to the edge.
It delivers very good cooling, but it's not quite effective enough for hot sleepers. It transfers a significant amount of heat during the first hour of the night, so it's a good choice if you often feel too warm to fall asleep. However, it slows down after that. It'll still transfer enough heat to keep most sleepers comfortable throughout the night, but hot sleepers may find that they wake up overheated.
The cover has three sections, each made of different materials. The top portion contains 57% polyester, 14% Tencel, 11% rayon, 11% silica, 6% modacrylic, and 1% Lycra. It's removable and machine-washable, which is an uncommon feature among mattresses.
There's nothing extra built into the sides for reinforcement, but it still offers excellent edge support, likely thanks to the mattress's very firm feel overall.
This mattress contains four layers of foam. Like most all-foam mattresses, the support layer at the bottom is made of polyfoam. As the firmest, most resilient layer in the mattress, the polyfoam support layer adds a bit of bounce and helps support the heaviest parts of your body, like the lumbar area, when sleeping on your back. Above the support layer, there are three layers of memory foam. The transition layer and lower comfort layer are similar, both visually and in performance, while the upper comfort layer is a little softer and less resilient than either. Together, they create a highly contouring feel.
It contains a mix of low-quality and good-quality foam. The memory foam upper comfort layer and polyfoam support layer are both dense enough to meet the standard for good-quality foam and should resist sagging and developing indentations. However, the lower comfort layer and transition layers in between are both made of low-quality memory foam, making the mattress less durable overall.
The upper and lower comfort layers are both pretty thin at 2.2 cm (0.9"), but most sleepers still don't sink through these layers of memory foam completely. Instead, they offer plenty of contouring, molding closely around your body. The memory foam transition layer is 5.2 cm (2") thick, providing a gradual shift to the firmer polyfoam support layer below, which is the thickest layer at 17.8 cm (7").
This mattress gets progressively firmer as you move down through the layers. The upper comfort layer is made of soft memory foam, which contours your body closely. The lower comfort and transition layers are both medium-firm memory foam. These layers provide additional contouring while also preventing you from sinking much further into the mattress, leading to a feeling of sleeping 'on' rather than 'in' your mattress. The polyfoam support layer is the firmest overall and contributes to the very firm feel of the mattress as a whole.
Although the upper comfort layer isn't particularly resilient, it has a bit more bounce than most memory foam. The memory foam lower comfort and transition layers are even more resilient, though they still offer the slower-moving feel typical of the material. The polyfoam support layer is much more resilient, making the mattress slightly bouncier, but it's still not a bouncy option overall.
