The Saatva Latex Hybrid is a high-end mattress. It uses organic materials, including latex for its comfort layer, wool in the quilted top, and cotton for the cover. It's a firm mattress, making it best-suited for average and bigger back and stomach sleepers. Side sleepers and lighter people may want something plusher. This mattress's latex comfort layer gives it a noticeably bouncy, very responsive feel. As you'd expect from a firm mattress, you don't sink into it very much at all, and it forms around your body without creating a hugging sensation.
Our Verdict
The Saatva Latex Hybrid provides an excellent sleeping experience. Its incredible edge support means you can share the entire surface of the mattress without anyone feeling at risk of sliding off. It has an amazing cooling performance, so it can help keep hot sleepers cool, and it's very responsive, so you don't feel stuck in place. Its motion isolation is good but not great. It isolates movement well, but you might feel like you're bouncing around for a moment after bigger movements.
Superb responsiveness, so you don't feel stuck in place.
Fantastic edge support.
Very good motion dissipation.
Excellent cooling.
Uses high-quality, durable latex.
Well-suited to average and bigger back and stomach sleepers.
Not ideal for lighter people and side sleepers.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress has great cooling. It feels quite cool as you're falling asleep, and does an even better job as the night goes on. It's a good choice for hot sleepers, especially if you often wake up in the middle of the night feeling overheated.
Excellent cooling.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid has very good motion dissipation. It isolates movement well, so if your partner rolls over, you won't feel much movement around your head or feet. It's not quite as good at dissipating motion, and you'll feel bigger movements for a few moments. Still, movements aren't likely to wake you up unless you're a light sleeper.
Very good motion dissipation.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid has fantastic edge support. The edges are reinforced with firmer pocket coils and don't compress much when you sit or sleep on the edge. Putting a lot of pressure on the very side does create an incline outwards, but you won't feel like you're about to slide off the mattress.
Fantastic edge support.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress has fantastic responsiveness. This mattress uses latex for its comfort layer, which is known for its springy, responsive feel. It recovers its shape almost instantly after being compressed, so it's easy to move around in your sleep, and you don't feel restricted.
Superb responsiveness, so you don't feel stuck in place.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid is a durable mattress. Its only foam layer is the upper comfort layer of dense, high-quality latex. This layer is likely to resist showing signs of wear, like permanent indentations, for much longer compared to lower-quality foams.
Uses high-quality, durable latex.

Popular Mattress Comparisons
The Saatva Latex Hybrid is a firm mattress with a bouncy feel. Its latex upper comfort layer molds around your body without enveloping you or restricting movement. It offers excellent cooling, making it an even better choice for hot sleepers than the Sleep On Latex Pure Green Organic, which is an all-foam latex mattress. However, it doesn't stand out for its motion dissipation, which is good but not great. The Puffy Lux is a hybrid mattress with a medium firmness level and better motion dissipation. It's a bit less bouncy, and you sink more into it.

The Saatva Latex Hybrid is better than the Novaform Legacy for most people. The Saatva is more cooling and has significantly better edge support, so it's more comfortable to sleep near the side of the mattress. It also contains more durable foam. That said, the Novaform has a better motion dissipation performance, so it's worth considering if you're a light sleeper.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid has a better performance than the WinkBeds The WinkBed. Both are firm mattresses, but the Saatva offers better support regardless of your weight, and is a better option for back/stomach sleeping overall. It's more cooling, making it suitable for hot sleepers, and it has better edge support, which makes it easier to get in and out of bed. It's also more responsive, so it adapts faster to your movements. The Saatva is bouncier, which also helps make it easier to move around in your sleep.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid is a better mattress than the Nectar Classic Hybrid. It offers significantly better edge support than the Nectar, which extends the comfortable sleeping surface and makes it easier to get in and out of bed. Additionally, it's more responsive, allowing for easier movement around or changes in sleeping positions. The Saatva is also more cooling. It transfers enough heat to keep even hot sleepers cool. That said, the Nectar offers better motion dissipation, so if you sleep with a partner who tosses and turns, you may still prefer it.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid is better than the Puffy Royal for most people. The Saatva's better cooling performance makes it more suitable for hot sleepers. Its significantly better edge support gives you more space to sleep comfortably and makes it easier to get in and out of bed. It's more responsive and much bouncier, which helps make it feel easy to change sleeping positions. The Saatva also uses much higher-quality foams that will last longer without sagging.
We've recently started testing mattresses. We use objective data and repeatable testing for key characteristics like firmness, cooling, and motion isolation, to ensure each mattress gets the same treatment. Since we buy all of our mattresses, we can tear them down layer by layer and isolate the mechanical properties of every component: quilted tops, foams, coils, and any special materials. Our approach gives us unprecedented insight into how each product design decision contributes to a mattress's overall performance and feel, and allows us to tailor our results to different body types and sleeping positions.
Test Results
It's a firm mattress, best suited for average to bigger stomach and back sleepers. Side-sleepers and lighter people may want something plusher.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid uses pocket coils for its support layer and latex for its upper comfort layer, which creates a highly bouncy, lively feel.
It has superb responsiveness. Its upper comfort layers are made of wool and latex, and it recovers instantly after being compressed, so you never feel stuck in place.
It has very good motion isolation. It does a good job of isolating motion, so you don't feel a lot of movement around your head or feet when your partner rolls over. However, compared with the Saatva Classic, which has a similar motion isolation performance overall, motion dissipates more slowly. After bigger movements, you may feel like you're bouncing around for a moment. To avoid that, you may want a mattress that dissipates motion faster, such as the Novaform Legacy.
It has fantastic edge support. The sides are reinforced with firmer pocket coils and don't compress very much, even when a lot of pressure is applied. They do form a slight ramp outward when you sit on the edge, but it's still easy to get in and out of bed, and you won't feel pushed off the bed when sleeping on the edge.
It has excellent cooling, especially as the night goes on. When you first go to bed, it feels just as cool as mattresses like the Stearns & Foster Lux Estate, which has a worse cooling performance overall. However, it does a better job of dissipating heat during the second half, so it's a particularly good option for people who often wake up overheated late at night.
The edges are reinforced with firmer (13-gauge) pocket coils, while the support layer coils (left) are softer 14-gauge coils. This helps give the mattress its fantastic edge support.
This mattress contains just one layer of latex foam. This type of foam feels responsive and bouncy while providing a good balance of pressure relief and support.
This mattress's upper comfort layer is made of dense, high-quality latex. You can expect that layer to resist forming permanent indentations or body impressions for longer compared to lower-quality foams.
The wool quilted top is just 1.3" (3.3 cm) thick, so it provides a bit of cushioning, but you'll compress it and feel the latex comfort foam below. The latex layer is thick at 3" (7.5 cm) and helps relieve pressure and support the parts of your body that don't sink into the support layer.
The support contains 14-gauge pocket coils. This type of coil is individually wrapped, providing better motion isolation and contouring than other types. The mattress's marketing suggests different springs at the head/foot of the mattress, but in fact, the support springs are all the same gauge and look identical, aside from the edge support coils. There is a slight difference in spring firmness between the heat/foot and lumbar area of the mattress. Here's a comparison of the lumbar springs (left) and head/foot springs (right).
We couldn't test the quilted top because it's made of wool fill and not foam, but it's soft. You'll likely fully compress the wool layer and feel the firmer latex below. The latex layer is slightly firmer in the lumbar area because it has smaller holes in that area, which results in a firmer feel compared with the head/foot sections. Together with the firmer springs, this layer produces a firm mattress overall.
The support springs are the firmest part of the mattress and help provide support for the heavier parts of your body, like the lumbar or hips, depending on your sleeping position. There's a slight firmness difference between the springs at the head/feet and lumbar, which is meant to provide additional support in the lumbar area, but it's not very noticeable. Together with the softer foam layer, the springs give this mattress a firm feeling overall.
The latex upper comfort layer is quite resilient, or bouncy, which is expected from latex. This gives the mattress a lively, responsive feel that makes it easy to shift sleeping positions throughout the night, and combined with the spring layer below, gives the mattress its high bounciness. The entire layer is made of the same slab of foam, but it has differently sized holes in different areas. The smaller holes in the lumbar area result in a bouncier feel in that area, so you may notice more 'push back' and support around your hips.
This mattress's springs aren't as bouncy as some other hybrid mattresses, like the Saatva Classic. However, its 3" (7.5 cm) layer of latex is quite bouncy, so overall, it's still a highly bouncy mattress.
