Hybrid mattresses, as the name suggests, are a cross between foam and innerspring mattresses. Most hybrids feature a layer of individually wrapped pocket springs, topped by at least one polyfoam, memory foam, or latex comfort layer. Ideally, this combo provides a good mix of pressure relief and support, suitable for sleepers with a range of body types and sleeping positions. You should also look for good motion dissipation and responsiveness, so it's easy to shift sleeping positions without feeling it when your sleeping partner rolls over. If you sleep hot, you'll also want to look for an option with efficient cooling. And of course, your preferences for how much you want to be enveloped by the comfort layers should also come into play. Finally, if durability is a priority for you, look for a mattress with dense, high-quality foam layers.
We've tested more than 55 mattresses, and over 35 of those are hybrids. Below, you'll find our recommendations for the best hybrid mattresses for most people. If you're wondering what else we recommend, see our picks for the best mattresses, the best mattress brands, or the best cooling mattresses.
We've tested over 55 mattresses. We purchase each unit independently from major retailers, just like you, to keep our reviews free of manufacturer influence. Each mattress undergoes the same tests to measure objective data on characteristics like firmness, cooling, and motion isolation, so you can easily compare results. Since we buy all our mattresses, we can tear them down layer by layer and isolate the mechanical properties of every component: quilted tops, foams, coils, and any special materials.

This mattress's pocket coil and memory foam layers help it offer an impressive combination of support and pressure relief that works well for most sleepers, regardless of weight or sleeping position. Surprisingly, given the memory foam layers, it's not very contouring. However, you sink quite deeply into this mattress, so you feel like you're sleeping more 'in' than 'on' it, without being tightly hugged. At the same time, though, it's not very bouncy and lacks responsiveness, which can make it feel hard to move around or change sleeping positions.
The biggest advantage of the Casper Snow is its cooling. It's effective enough for hot sleepers, keeping you cool as you fall asleep, and especially as the night goes on. Excellent motion dissipation also makes it a great choice if you sleep lightly or sleep with a partner. You don't feel smaller movements, and even larger ones, like when your partner rolls over, stay localized and dissipate quickly. Unfortunately, it's not a durable option. It contains only low-quality foam, which makes it likely to show signs of wear and tear faster than mattresses with higher-quality foam.

Best Upper Mid-Range Hybrid Mattress

This Firm mattress has a springy, responsive feel, so it won't make you feel hugged or stuck in place. It's not as versatile as the Casper Snow, since you'll sink into it very little overall, and it won't offer enough pressure relief for comfortable side sleeping. That said, it's exceptionally supportive. Regardless of your weight, it's a great option for keeping your spine aligned, making it well-suited for a range of back and stomach sleepers. It's also a more durable option, since its high-quality latex layer and flippable design will help it resist sagging and maintain its support performance for longer.
The mattress offers fantastic motion isolation, so you won't feel most of your partner's movements. The edges are very sturdy, which gives you more comfortable sleeping space. It's also suitable for hot sleepers, but it's not as cooling overall as the Casper, especially for the first hour of sleep. You won't feel like the mattress is gradually heating up the longer you're in bed, but it's a worse option if feeling overheated often prevents you from falling asleep in the first place.

Best Mid-Range Hybrid Mattress

This Medium-Plush mattress's thick quilted top and soft memory foam upper comfort layer allow you to sink into it quite a bit. It offers much better pressure relief than the Sleep On Latex Hybrid, making it a better option for side sleeping, especially for average-weight and heavier people. It's not as bouncy, but it has a responsive feel, so you won't feel hugged or stuck in place despite sinking into it more.
It's also a good option for couples, since its excellent motion dissipation prevents you from feeling most movements, and its sturdy edges give you more comfortable sleeping space. Its great cooling makes it suitable for hot sleepers as well. Unfortunately, its comfort layer is made of lower-density foam, so it may start showing signs of wear like sagging sooner than more durable options. Also, while it offers adequate support for lighter back/stomach sleepers, if you're in the average-weight or heavier categories, you'll want a more supportive mattress for back and stomach sleeping.

Best Budget Hybrid Mattress

This Medium-Plush mattress isn't as conforming as the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid and won't offer enough pressure relief for lighter side sleepers, but it's a great option for average-weight and heavier side sleepers looking for a budget mattress. It's also more supportive for lighter people, so it's a good option for back and stomach sleepers in that weight category.
The mattress's gel-infused foam comfort layers let you sink in, but it's not as enveloping as the previous pick, and because of its responsive feel, you won't feel hugged or constricted by the sleeping surface. Otherwise, it offers a very good overall performance, with excellent motion isolation that will help you sleep peacefully with a partner, great cooling for hot sleepers, and excellent edge support, so you can comfortably sit or sleep near the edge of the bed.

This mattress includes pocket springs for support and relatively firm comfort layers of polyfoam, memory foam, and fiber fill, which give it a bouncy, responsive, and non-enveloping feel. Although its pressure relief isn't the best, it offers at least satisfactory support for people in a range of weight categories, making it a good choice for back and stomach sleepers in particular.
This mattress doesn't feel very cool when you first get into bed, but it dissipates heat efficiently over eight hours, making it suitable for hot sleepers. It's also an excellent option if you sleep lightly or with a partner, thanks to its motion-isolation performance. You only feel the largest movements, and they don't last for long, so they're not likely to wake you. Unfortunately, it's not particularly durable, but it still contains one layer of good-quality foam, which is more than some much pricier options.
Notable Mentions

Saatva Latex Hybrid:
The Saatva Latex Hybrid is a firm mattress with exceptional responsiveness. It doesn't dissipate motion as well as the Casper Snow, and it's not quite as cooling, but it's more durable, so it'll resist sagging for longer.

Helix Midnight Luxe 2025:
The Helix Midnight Luxe 2025 is an upper mid-range mattress that you might prefer to the Sleep On Latex Hybrid if you sleep on your side. It offers enough pressure relief for most side sleepers and great cooling, but it has worse motion dissipation and isn't as durable.

Big Fig Mattress:
The Big Fig Mattress is a mid-range Medium mattress with a more durable design than the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid, which will help it maintain its support performance for longer. It's a better option for lighter back/stomach sleepers, but it isn't as good for side sleepers and isn't cooling enough for hot sleepers.
