The Sleep On Latex Hybrid is an upper mid-range hybrid mattress. It has a flippable design with the same design on each side, so you can flip it over to extend its lifespan without changing how it feels. It includes pocket coils for support and a layer of Dunlop latex on each side for comfort and pressure relief. The mattress is also wrapped in a quilted cover that includes layers of wool and a cotton sleeping surface. The manufacturer says all of the materials, including the wool, latex, and cotton, are organic.

    Heavy Weight

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid isn't well-suited for side sleeping. This very firm mattress has sub-par body conformity overall, and regardless of your weight, you won't sink into it enough to relieve pressure on your arm and shoulder when side sleeping. While it's a passable option for heavier side sleepers, who will sink into it slightly more, it's still not a good option if you always sleep on your side.

Cons
  • Awful body conformity for lighter people.

  • Poor body conformity for average-weight people.

  • Sub-par body conformity for heavier people.

    Heavy Weight

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid is best-suited for lighter and average-weight back sleepers. Its fantastic support for people in those weight categories means your hips won't sink in further than the rest of your body, keeping your spine aligned, which is important for comfortable back sleeping. While it's not quite as supportive for heavier individuals, it still offers a great performance, and it's a decent option for heavier individuals in that weight category. The mattress's highly contouring sleeping surface also helps eliminate pressure points when you sleep on your back, although some may still prefer a slightly plusher mattress that offers more cushioning.

Pros
  • Outstanding support for lighter people.

  • Fantastic support for average-weight people.

  • Impressive support for heavier people.

  • High contouring adds pressure relief.

    Heavy Weight

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid is well-suited for most stomach sleepers. It's incredibly supportive for lighter and average-weight people, so if you sleep on your stomach, your hips won't sink in further than the rest of your body, which prevents your back from arching. Its support for heavier people is a little weaker, but still impressive, so it's a great option for stomach sleepers in that weight category as well. While it doesn't offer great pressure relief overall, its highly contouring latex layers help cushion pressure points for stomach sleepers.

Pros
  • Outstanding support for lighter people.

  • Fantastic support for average-weight people.

  • Impressive support for heavier people.

Cons
None
8.6
Longevity

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid is a very durable mattress. The comfort layer is made of high-quality latex, which will resist forming impressions for much longer than lower-quality foams. The mattress is flippable, with an identical design on each side, so you can also flip the mattress periodically, which may help increase its durability.

Pros
  • Uses dense, high-quality latex.

Cons
None
4.5
Pressure Relief

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid offers poor pressure relief. No one will sink very much into the firm sleeping surface, and as a result, it doesn't offer enough pressure relief for side sleepers. However, its highly contouring latex comfort layer helps compensate for that, since it molds around you closely, which helps it offer sufficient pressure relief for many back and stomach sleepers.

Pros
  • High contouring adds pressure relief.

Cons
  • Awful body conformity for lighter people.

  • Poor body conformity for average-weight people.

  • Sub-par body conformity for heavier people.

9.1
Support

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid offers fantastic support. It's outstandingly supportive for lighter individuals, so the heavier parts of your body, like your hips, will stay in line with the rest of your body. It's similarly supportive for average-weight people and also offers great support for heavier individuals. Overall, regardless of your weight, it'll effectively support your hips and lumbar area and keep your spine aligned, which is especially important for back and stomach sleepers.

Pros
  • Outstanding support for lighter people.

  • Fantastic support for average-weight people.

  • Impressive support for heavier people.

Cons
None
8.1
Cooling

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid offers great cooling. The mattress doesn't feel as cool as some during the first hour you're in bed, which could be an issue if you're a hot sleeper who often has difficulty falling asleep. However, it dissipates heat efficiently all night, so you won't feel like it's heating up as you sleep. Overall, it's cooling enough for most people, and a good option for hot sleepers who often wake up later in the night feeling overheated.

Pros
  • Cooling enough for hot sleepers.

Cons
  • Not as cooling during the first hour of sleep.

9.0
Motion Dissipation

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid has fantastic motion dissipation. If you sleep with a partner, you won't feel their smaller movements. Bigger movements, like someone getting into or out of bed, are mostly felt near the source, not all over the mattress. Motion also dissipates quickly, so the mattress won't bounce around after someone moves, which makes motion less likely to wake you.

Pros
  • You won't feel most movements.

  • Motion dissipates quickly, so it's less likely to disturb you.

Cons
None
9.6
Responsiveness

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid is very responsive. The sleeping surface adapts very quickly to your movements, so it doesn't have a hugging or slow-moving feel. It's also a very bouncy mattress, which adds to its responsive feel and makes movement feel easier.

Pros
  • Responsive sleeping surface means you won't feel stuck in place.

  • Bouncy feel supports your movements.

    Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid comes in 'Medium' or 'Firm.' You can also choose to add a 'Comfort Topper' or 'Luxury Topper,' an optional tufted topper. We tested the Firm variant without a topper. Here's a picture of our unit's label.

If you have this mattress or a variant, we invite you to share your experience in the comments!

    Popular Mattress Comparisons

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid 'Firm' variant is a very firm mattress best-suited for back and stomach sleepers. Compared to the company's all-foam latex mattress, the Sleep On Latex Pure Green Organic (Medium), it has a similarly durable design but offers significantly better motion dissipation, making it a better option for couples. It's also more supportive overall, and while it's particularly supportive for lighter and average-weight people, it stands out for its support for heavier people, which is a common weak point for mattresses that provide impressive support otherwise. For example, it'll do a better job of keeping your spine aligned compared to supportive mattresses like the Casper Snow or Saatva Latex Hybrid, making it a great option for back and stomach sleepers in a range of weight categories. That said, its extremely firm feel makes it a bad option for most side sleepers, and even combination sleepers might want a more conforming mattress.

    Plank Firm Luxe

    Track

The Sleep On Latex Pure Green Organic is better than the Plank Firm Luxe for most people. They're both Firm mattresses and have a similar support performance, but the Saatva offers better pressure relief, so it's better if you're a side or combination sleeper. It's also much more cooling, and more durable. However, you might prefer the Plank Firm for its significantly better motion isolation.

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid (Firm) is a very firm mattress best-suited for stomach sleeping. It offers fantastic support for light and average-weight people and impressive support for heavier people, even compared to other firm mattresses like the Novosbed or Plank Extra Firm Luxe. However, its pressure relief performance is weak, as you might expect from a very firm mattress, and it's not a good choice for side sleepers. Some, especially lighter people, might also prefer a mattress with good support and better pressure relief for back and stomach sleeping, like the Casper Snow.

While it's not advertised as a zoned mattress, it's much firmer in the lumbar area than at the head and foot of the mattress. This is likely due to the border wire around the edges, which has different levels of tension at the head/foot versus the middle of the mattress. You can read more about this unusual design in the edge construction section.

Its body conformity is poor. It's a firm mattress, and you won't sink very much into it regardless of your weight. It offers the worst, awful conformity for lighter individuals. However, it doesn't perform much better for average-weight or heavier people, offering disappointing body conformity. Overall, it's not a good option for side sleepers, as it's not conforming enough to relieve pressure on your arm and shoulder.

This mattress offers a fantastic support performance. It's most supportive for lighter individuals. You'll barely sink into the mattress at all, including the heavier parts of your body like your hips, so it'll do an outstanding job of keeping your spine aligned if you're a back or stomach sleeper. It performs nearly as well for average-weight people. While it's not quite as supportive for people in the heavier weight category, it's still impressively supportive, making it a great option for back/stomach sleepers across a range of weight categories.

It's not a very enveloping mattress overall. You won't sink very much into it, regardless of your weight, so you won't feel hugged by the sleeping surface. Most of the mattress's pressure relief performance comes from its very contouring feel. The latex comfort layer molds around you, so more of the sleeping surface is in contact with your body, which helps relieve pressure despite its firm feel.

It has fantastic motion isolation. It's particularly good at dampening movement and preventing it from traveling across the mattress. You won't feel smaller movements, like a cat jumping onto the foot of the bed, and while you may feel bigger movements like your partner rolling over, you'll only feel them near the source. Motion also dissipates quickly, so the mattress doesn't seem to wobble with movement, and motion is less likely to wake you.

This mattress offers outstanding edge support. The border wire around the edges of the mattress, tension from the cover's deep tufting, and latex panels along the sides all contribute to making the edges difficult to compress. This means you can comfortably sleep right at the edge of the mattress without feeling at risk of sliding out of bed. The sides also provide a solid surface for getting in and out of bed.

Its cooling is great overall. It's not extremely cooling when you first get into bed, so it's only a decent option if you often feel overheated as you're falling asleep. However, it performs much better overnight, so you won't feel warmer and warmer as the night goes on. It's cooling enough for most people, and it's a good choice for hot sleepers who often wake up later in the night uncomfortably hot.

The edges of the mattress have an unusual design, with a steel wire around the border held in place with tension from springs. This helps give the mattress outstanding edge support. The border wire is wrapped around the mattress's support layer. There's also a thin layer of latex over the border wire, which likely helps prevent you from feeling it.

The Sleep On Latex Hybrid has a thin quilted top that includes two layers of wool. This layer wraps around the entire mattress. The comfort layer is made of Dunlop latex, a type of latex with a springier and bouncier feel compared to Talalay latex, which is also commonly used in mattresses. There's no other foam in the design, but a thick layer of organic hemp fiber between the latex and pocket coils acts as a transition layer, distributing your weight over the coils and adding some firmness.

This mattress has a dense layer of pocket coils for support. Individually wrapped pocket coils that can move independently from one another can help improve motion isolation and contouring compared with continuous coils. The layer is made up of tightly coiled 13-gauge springs and is quite stiff, so most people won't compress it much, which helps give the mattress its solid support performance. The springs at each corner of the mattress and the space between the four springs at each corner are stuffed with wool. This makes the springs harder to compress and likely helps make the corners more sturdy.
