The Helix Midnight Elite is a 39.5 cm (15.6") mattress. This bed-in-a-box arrives disassembled, with the support spring layer and quilted top vacuum sealed in one box and the comfort coils and foam layers in another. The Helix Midnight Elite is a Medium-Plush mattress. It's very well-suited for side sleepers, since it's very conforming and offers excellent pressure relief. It also offers decent support for heavier people. While it's slightly less supportive for lighter and average-weight people and isn't ideal for dedicated stomach sleepers, it's a good option for most back and combination sleepers.

The Helix Midnight Elite's cover can be unzipped so you can assemble the mattress, which comes with the comfort layers packaged separately. However, once unzipped, it's still stitched to the spring layer, so you can't completely remove it.

There's a final 1.8 cm/0.7 inches of firmer polyfoam above the springs, which you won't feel directly, but it distributes your weight over the support coils and adds support.
The comfort spring layer is a dense layer of short 19-gauge coils. These coils are easily compressed and add contouring and pressure relief.
The support layer is much firmer overall. It uses different coils in different areas. The lumbar area has firm 13-gauge coils, which is intended to add support for your hips. The head/foot of the mattress uses 14-gauge coils, which are made of thinner wire and have a softer feel. Two sides of the mattress are lined with 15 gauge coils. While thinner wire usually means softer springs, their tightly coiled design makes them more difficult to compress, and they help give the mattress its sturdy edges.
The thick quilted top, memory foam upper comfort layer, and lower memory foam comfort layer all have a very soft feel and allow you to sink deeply into the mattress, which helps explain its excellent body conformity. The result above is for the quilted layer as a whole, but you can also see separate results for the foam layers in the quilted top.
The transition layer directly above the support spring layer is much firmer overall, so instead of adding pressure relief, it adds support and spreads weight out over the spring layer. The layer is zoned, with a firmer feel in the lumbar area, which is intended to add extra support for the heaviest parts of your body.
The comfort coils are very easily compressed and help add contouring and pressure relief. The support coils are much firmer, but still aren't very stiff for support coils, so they contribute to the mattress's plush overall feel. The layer is much firmer in the lumbar area, which helps keep your hips from sinking in overly far and improves the mattresses support performance.

The Helix Midnight Elite is a higher-end option in Helix's lineup. Unlike the Helix Midnight Luxe 2025, it includes a layer of comfort coils as well as pocket coils for support and uses only good or high-quality foam, making it more durable.
