The Sleep On Latex Pure Green Organic is a mid-range foam bed-in-a-box mattress. Each layer of this mattress is made of latex, with a firm latex serving as its support layer and a softer latex for its comfort layer.
It's an extremely firm mattress, so it's best suited to average and heavier back and stomach sleepers and almost certainly far too firm for lighter people and side sleepers. This mattress is very responsive and moderately bouncy, making it easy to move around on the surface and change sleeping positions. You don't sink very deeply into the comfort layer, but it offers considerable contouring, so you feel cushioned, but not tightly hugged.
Our Verdict
The Sleep On Latex offers an excellent sleeping experience. This mattress keeps you cool as you fall asleep and throughout the night, even if you sleep hot. It provides very good motion isolation, so if you sleep with a partner who tosses and turns, the movement will be less likely to keep you up at night. When they roll over, you feel it mainly in the lumbar area, but the motion dissipates quickly. You can sleep near the very edge of this mattress without feeling like you might slide off, thanks to its superb edge support. It's very responsive, too, recovering its shape nearly instantly after being compressed, so it's very easy to change sleeping positions and doesn't leave you feeling stuck or constrained.
Fantastic responsiveness makes it easy to switch sleeping positions.
Superb edge support.
Great cooling performance.
Good motion isolation makes your partner's movements less likely to disturb you.
Uses only durable, high-quality latex.
Ideal for average and heavier back and stomach sleepers.
Likely too firm for lighter people and side sleepers.
The Sleep On Latex offers a great cooling performance. It transfers a good amount of heat away from your body in the first hour of the night, so you stay cool as you fall asleep. After that, this mattress continues to dissipate a lot of heat throughout the night, so you don't wake up overheated. Even if you sleep hot, this mattress should suit your cooling needs.
Great cooling performance.
The Sleep On Latex delivers good motion isolation and dissipation. When your sleeping partner tosses and turns, you feel it mainly in the lumbar region and just a bit near your head and feet. Motion dissipates quickly, so you're less likely to be woken up by a partner shifting sleeping positions or a pet jumping on the bed.
Good motion isolation makes your partner's movements less likely to disturb you.
The Sleep On Latex has fantastic edge support. Despite the lack of any additional edge component, the sides don't compress easily, so you can sit or sleep right near the edge without feeling like you might slide off. It's also easy to push off the sides to get in or out of bed.
Superb edge support.
The Sleep On Latex is a superbly responsive mattress. It bounces back almost instantly after being compressed, making it easy to roll over, shift sleeping positions, and move around.
Fantastic responsiveness makes it easy to switch sleeping positions.
The Sleep On Latex Pure Green Organic is a durable mattress. All of its layers are made of dense, high-quality latex and will resist sagging and forming indentations for much longer than lower-quality foams.

Popular Mattress Comparisons
Sleep On Latex focuses on natural products. In addition to their mattress, they offer mattress toppers and pillows made from natural latex, organic cotton, and organic wool. The Sleep On Latex Pure Green Organic is the only mattress they offer. It stands out for its construction; aside from the cover and fire barrier, this mattress is made entirely from latex foam. Like the Saatva Latex Hybrid, this mattress is highly responsive; It springs back instantly after you compress it, which is characteristic of latex. On the other hand, its motion isolation performance lags behind options like the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Adapt, which uses a mix of polyfoam and memory foam in its construction.
This mattress also has outstanding edge support, nearly matching the performance of the Beautyrest Silver BRS900. It's very cooling as well, and while it can't compete with the Purple Mattress or the Casper Snow (Canadian Version), it performs well enough to keep even hot sleepers cool. Overall, if you enjoy the feeling of latex, it's a solid option.

The Sleep On Latex Pure Green Organic performs better than the WinkBeds The WinkBed in most aspects. The Sleep On Latex offers significantly better edge support, which increases the comfortable sleeping surface, and much better cooling, making it more suitable for hot sleepers. It's also more responsive, which makes it feel easier to move around in your sleep. That said, the Winkbed has better motion isolation, so light sleepers might prefer it.
We've recently started testing mattresses. We use objective data and repeatable testing for key characteristics like firmness, cooling, and motion isolation, to ensure each mattress gets the same treatment. Since we buy all of our mattresses, we can tear them down layer by layer and isolate the mechanical properties of every component: quilted tops, foams, coils, and any special materials. Our approach gives us unprecedented insight into how each product design decision contributes to a mattress's overall performance and feel, and allows us to tailor our results to different body types and sleeping positions.
Test Results
It's advertised as an 8" (20.3 cm) mattress, and ours measured a little shorter, so you can use standard fitted sheets with some room to spare.
Latex is a very heavy material, so this mattress is also quite heavy. It doesn't retain its shape, either, making it very difficult to move. In fact, we damaged our unit while trying to move it. We recommend moving this mattress with a minimum of two people.
This is a firm mattress. It's a good fit for average and heavier back and stomach sleepers, but lighter people and side sleepers may need a softer option.
This mattress is moderately bouncy. Latex tends to have more 'push back' than polyfoam or memory foam, making it a good choice if you like the feeling of a springy, bouncy mattress.
You don't sink very deeply into this mattress's comfort layer, but it offers high contouring. This creates a cradling sensation while avoiding any feeling of being tightly hugged or enveloped.
It has fantastic responsiveness. When you compress the mattress, it recovers its shape almost instantly. It's easy to move around and switch sleeping positions.
This mattress has very good motion isolation. You feel movement mostly near its source. For example, when your partner rolls over, you feel it mostly in the lumbar region and less at your head and feet. The motion dissipates quickly, so it's not likely to wake you up.
This mattress has superb edge support. Although there's no additional edge component built in, the sides don't compress easily. You can sit or sleep near the edge without feeling like you might slip off, and it's very easy to get in or out of bed. Even compared with models that feature pocket springs built into the edges, like the Nectar Classic Hybrid, the Sleep On Latex performs better in this area.
It offers impressive cooling performance. Each layer of latex foam is perforated, which can help with breathability and allow heat to dissipate more quickly. The manufacturer also says that the wool batting (used as a fire barrier) helps keep the mattress's surface cool. In practice, this mattress sleeps quite cool, especially for a foam mattress. It keeps you fairly cool while you fall asleep and dissipates a lot of heat throughout the night, so you don't wake up overheated. While there are options that are even more cooling, this mattress should keep you cool, even if you sleep hot.
Despite not having an additional edge component, this mattress has outstanding edge support. This fantastic performance is likely due to the dense, responsive nature of latex foam.
This mattress contains three layers of latex foam. Latex has a bouncy, resilient feel and provides a good balance of pressure relief and support.
This mattress's layers are all made of dense, high-quality latex, which suggests the mattress will resist sagging or forming indentations for much longer compared to mattresses that use low-quality foams. The foam is denser and more durable than the latex layers found in some other mattresses, such as the Saatva Latex Hybrid, which includes a layer of good-quality, but not high-quality, latex.
This mattress is 7.6" (19.3 cm) tall and contains only latex foam, apart from the cover and wool fire barrier. The upper comfort foam is 1.8" (4.6 cm) tall and provides contouring and pressure relief. Also at 1.8" (4.6 cm), the transition layer provides support for the more recessed parts of your body and ensures you don't sink too far into the mattress. The support layer is 4" (10.1 cm) thick, offering support for the heaviest parts of your body and a sturdy base for the mattress overall.
The layers in this mattress get progressively firmer towards the support layer, with each layer contributing to both pressure relief and support. The upper comfort layer contains the softest foam in the mattress; it contours your body closely and relieves pressure points. Below that, the transition layer is a bit firmer. This layer helps evenly distribute your body weight and ensure that you don't sink too far into the mattress. The support layer is the firmest overall. It provides a stable foundation and support for the heaviest parts of your body, like the hips or lumbar, depending on your sleeping position. Together, these layers work to alleviate pressure, support your body, and keep your spine aligned.
The layers of this mattress are all very resilient and bounce back when pressure is applied, which is expected of latex. This gives the mattress a responsive, bouncy feel despite not having a spring layer and makes it easier to move around on the mattress and change sleeping positions. The upper comfort foam is quite resilient, offering a buoyant sensation that makes you feel like you're sleeping more 'on' than 'in' your mattress. Below that, the transition foam has the same resilience as the layer above, ensuring that you don't sink through to the support foam, which has the highest resilience and helps give the mattress its moderate bounciness.
