The WinkBeds Plus is a mid-range hybrid mattress. It's the firmest variant of the WinkBed and is marketed as a more supportive and durable option for people in the heavier weight range. Its design includes a quilted layer, gel memory foam, and polyfoam layers, and zoned pocket coils intended to provide extra support for your back.
Our Verdict
The WinkBeds Plus is a good option for heavier side sleepers. This Firm mattress offers great body conformity for people in that weight category, so you'll sink into it enough to relieve pressure on your arm and shoulder. However, its body conformity for average-weight people is just okay, and if you always sleep on your side, you'll probably want more pressure relief. It's not a good option for people in the lighter weight category, who won't compress its comfort layers enough for comfortable side sleeping.
Adequate body conformity for average-weight people.
Great body conformity for heavier people.
Poor body conformity for lighter people.
The WinkBeds Plus is best suited for lighter and average-weight back sleepers. It offers great support for lighter people and good support for average-weight people, which helps keep your hips supported and your spine aligned when you're sleeping on your back. It also offers adequate support for heavier back sleepers.
Adequate support for heavier people.
Good support for average-weight people.
Great support for lighter people.
The WinkBeds Plus is best suited for lighter and average-weight stomach sleepers. It offers good support for average-weight people and great support for lighter people, which will help keep your hips supported. While it's adequately supportive for heavier individuals as well, you may want more support to prevent your back from arching.
Good support for average-weight people.
Heavier stomach sleepers may need more support.
The WinkBeds Plus is moderately durable. It contains one layer of good-quality foam, which will help it resist sagging for longer than mattresses that only use lower-quality materials. However, its comfort layers contain lower-density, less durable foam, which may show signs of wear sooner.
Includes one layer of good-quality foam.
Comfort layers include lower-quality foam.
The WinkBeds Plus's pressure relief performance varies depending on your weight. It offers the most pressure relief for people in the heavier weight category, who will sink into it enough for comfortable side sleeping. However, its relatively firm comfort layers offer much less pressure relief for average-weight and especially lighter people, who may want a softer mattress for side sleeping. That said, it contours around you closely, so more of your body is in contact with the sleeping surface, which helps with pressure relief.
Adequate body conformity for average-weight people.
Great body conformity for heavier people.
Highly contouring sleeping surface.
Poor body conformity for lighter people.
The WinkBed Plus is most supportive for lighter and average-weight people, but is fairly supportive for people in the heavier weight category as well. Its solid support makes it a good option for lighter and average-weight back and stomach sleepers. It's not as supportive for heavier people, but it does an adequate job of keeping your hips in line with the rest of your body. While stomach sleepers in that weight category may need more support, it's a good option for back or side sleep.
Adequate support for heavier people.
Good support for average-weight people.
Great support for lighter people.
Heavier stomach sleepers may need more support.
The WinkBeds Plus has a good cooling performance. It dissipates heat efficiently enough to keep most people comfortable. However, if you're a hot sleeper, you may want a cooling mattress. In particular, it feels warmer when you first get into bed, so if feeling overheated often keeps you awake, it's not ideal.
Cooling enough for most people.
Not quite cooling enough for hot sleepers.
The WinkBeds Plus has decent motion dissipation. The mattress doesn't bounce or wobble with movement, and it does a fantastic job of keeping motion isolated, so movements are only felt near the source. However, you will feel most movements near where they originate, even smaller ones, and bigger movements will be very noticeable.
Motion dissipates quickly.
Motion doesn't travel across the mattress.
You'll feel most movements near the source.
The WinkBeds Plus is a very responsive mattress. The comfort layers respond quickly when you move, which helps support your movements and avoids making you feel stuck in place. It's also a bouncy mattress, which makes it feel easier to change sleeping positions.
High responsiveness makes it feel easy to change sleeping positions.

Popular Mattress Comparisons
The WinkBeds Plus is a firm hybrid mattress. It's marketed as a supportive, durable option for heavier individuals and does provide adequate support for people in that weight range. However, it doesn't stand out in that respect, and some other firm mattresses like the Saatva Latex Hybrid or the Sleep On Latex Pure Green Organic offer better support for heavier back/stomach sleepers. It has sturdy edges and good cooling, but its motion dissipation is just decent. If you want a mattress that will help you sleep peacefully with a partner, many hybrid models offer a better performance, such as the Purple RestorePlus Hybrid or the Casper Snow.

The Saatva Latex Hybrid is better than the WinkBeds Plus for most people. The Saatva offers slightly better support for lighter and heavier people, and better body conformity for most side sleepers. It has better motion dissipation, better cooling, and uses higher-quality comfort materials.
The WinkBeds Plus and WinkBeds The WinkBed (Luxury Firm) are variants of the WinkBed with and have different strengths. The Plus is more supportive, making it a better option for back and stomach sleeping. On the other hand, heavier side sleepers and lighter back or stomach sleepers might prefer the Luxury Firm WinkBed because of its better cooling and motion dissipation.
You might prefer either the Sleep On Latex Pure Green Organic or the WinkBeds Plus. The Sleep On Latex is a very firm mattress that offers better support for average-weight and heavier people, so it's a better option for back/stomach sleeping. It's better for hot sleepers and uses more durable materials. The WinkBed's softer comfort layers make it more suitable for side sleeping, and you might prefer its slightly plusher feel.
You might prefer either the Casper Snow or the WinkBeds Plus. The Casper offers better cooling and motion dissipation, as well as a balance of support and pressure relief, making it a better option for many side sleepers. Its better support also makes it more suitable for heavier back and stomach sleepers. However, it has a very enveloping feel, which you may find constricting if you don't like to sink into your mattress that much. The WinkBeds is a bit more durable, and it's a good option for heavier side sleepers and average-weight back/stomach sleepers who prefer a firmer, more responsive mattress.

This hybrid mattress is 36.1 cm (14.2") high, and you may need to use deep-pocket fitted sheets.
The WinkBeds Plus is Firm and offers enough support for most back sleepers, including heavier individuals. It has a firmer feel than the 'Luxury Firm' variant of the WinkBed, but still offers enough pressure relief for heavier side sleepers. While it's supportive enough for average-weight and lighter stomach sleepers, people in the heavier weight category may need more support for stomach sleeping.
It's worth noting that WinkBed markets it for people in the heavier weight range, which they define as 250 lbs+. They rate the Plus variant's firmness as an 8.5/10. However, they also note that it depends on your specific weight: "Individuals 300 lbs and up will experience this mattress as a 6.5/10 while individuals 200 lbs and under will experience this mattress as an 8/10, 10 being the firmest."
The WinkBeds Plus offers great body conformity for people in the heavier weight category. If you sleep on your side, you'll sink in enough to relieve pressure on your arm and shoulder. It performs adequately for average-weight side sleepers as well, although you may find a plusher mattress more comfortable. It's much less suitable for lighter side sleepers, as it'll do a poor job of relieving pressure for people in that weight category.
This mattress is marketed for people in the heavier weight range, which WinkBeds defines as 250 lbs+. It provides adequate support for people in that weight category and performs much better than the 'Luxury Firm' WinkBed, but some mattresses, such as the Saatva Latex Hybrid, are even more supportive. Its good support for average-weight people and great support for lighter people make it a much better option for back/stomach sleepers in those weight categories.
It's a bouncy mattress, so it has a lively feel that makes it less likely that you'll feel stuck in place.
Its comfort layers are on the firmer side, and you won't sink into it very much overall. It feels like you're on the mattress instead of 'in' it. However, it's very contouring, so the mattress molds closely around you, which helps with pressure relief.
It's very responsive. It recovers its shape very quickly after being compressed, so it seems to adapt to your movements, instead of hugging or constricting you.
It has a decent motion isolation performance. It does a fantastic job of keeping movements localized, so you're unlikely to feel movement all over the mattress. Motion also dissipates quickly, so it doesn't wobble or bounce around with movement. However, you'll feel movements near the source, even smaller movements, like a pet jumping onto the foot of the bed.
This mattress offers excellent edge support. The edges won't compress very much when you sit on the mattress, which is helpful if you want a solid surface for getting in and out of bed. The very edge compresses a little more, forming a slight ramp, but it's not very noticeable, and you won't feel like you're being pushed out of bed if you sleep on the edge of the mattress.
The WinkBeds Plus has a good cooling performance. Overall, it's not quite cooling enough for hot sleepers, but it does dissipate heat efficiently enough for most people. It's less cooling when you first get into bed, but it offers a good performance over eight hours, which will help prevent you from waking up overheated later on.
The sleeping surface is made of rayon and TENCEL, which is made from wood pulp. The cover isn't removable or machine-washable.
The WinkBeds Plus has 16-gauge coils along the sides of the support layer that help give it its excellent edge support.
The quilted top includes an upper layer of fiber fill and two identical layers of polyfoam. These materials help give the mattress its responsive feel and help with pressure relief. The upper comfort layer is made of gel memory foam, which adds contouring but is more responsive than typical memory foam, so it creates a hugging feel that doesn't restrict movement.
The transition layer is made of polyfoam, although WinkBed's website advertised a latex layer instead. Their website has since been updated with the layer material now listed as 'Enduramax Support Foam,' but the same page still refers to a 'zoned latex support layer.' The update and the mattress we received suggest the WinkBed Plus no longer includes a latex layer, but it's worth noting that the manufacturer's specifications include conflicting information.
There's also a sheet of felt below the transition layer, above the springs. While WinkBeds doesn't list it as part of the mattress construction, it likely helps distribute weight evenly over the support layer.
Most of the foam in the mattress is not of good quality, including the polyfoam layers in the quilted top and the memory foam upper comfort layer. These foams are prone to forming permanent body impressions sooner. That said, the polyfoam transition layer is dense enough to meet the standard for good-quality foam, which will help it resist sagging.
The quilted top is moderately thick at 5.4 cm (2.1"). Most people won't fully compress it, so it helps prevent you from feeling the firmer layers below. The 4.7 cm (1.9") upper comfort layer of memory foam helps add contouring and pressure relief, especially for heavier individuals, who will interact with it more. The polyfoam transition layer also measures 4.7 cm (1.9") and helps add support.
The support layer is made up of zoned pocket coils, with different types of springs at the head/foot of the mattress and in the lumbar area. The layer has 15-gauge springs at the head/foot and 14-gauge springs in the lumbar area. The thinner 15-gauge wire results in softer springs at the head/foot of the mattress. You're unlikely to compress the coils enough that you notice a difference in firmness, but the stiffer 14-gauge coils may be more durable.
The coils are also arranged differently in each section. The rows of coils are offset at the head/foot, which allows the coils to be closer together, creating a denser layer (288 coils/m² or 27 coils/ft²) versus the lumbar area, where the rows are aligned (269 coils/m² or 25 coils/ft²).
Finally, rows of tightly wound 16-gauge coils along each side of the support layer help with edge support.
The quilted layer has a medium firmness level, so while it doesn't feel extremely plush or pillowy, you'll sink into it a little, and it will provide some pressure relief. The memory foam layer below is much firmer. It helps give the mattress its contouring feel, but because of its firmness, most people won't sink into it very far. The polyfoam transition layer is very firm, similar to the support layers of some all-foam mattresses. Along with the springs, it helps add support for the heavier parts of your body.
The support layer springs have a similar medium-firm feel at the head/foot and in the lumbar area. The 14-gauge coils in the lumbar area are stiffer than the 15-gauge coils at the head/foot when compressed significantly under heavier loads, but since you're unlikely to compress the support layer that much, you probably won't notice a difference in firmness. The extra stiffness may help make the coils in the lumbar area more durable, however.
The quilted layer is very resilient, so it feels springy and responds quickly when you move. The memory foam layer is much less bouncy, but it's still much more resilient than some memory foam, and the polyfoam layer below is also quite resilient. These springy foam layers help explain why the mattress has a responsive feel overall.
