The LG Immersive Suite 5 Pro is a 7.1.4 soundbar configuration that pairs the LG Sound Suite H7 soundbar with two M5 satellite speakers and a W7 wireless sub. It's a step down in terms of size, channel count, and price from the maximalist LG Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro, but still includes flagship features, like Dolby Atmos FlexConnect and Sound Follow. These two features look to adapt the sound based on the speakers' placement and your positioning relative to the soundbar.

Our Verdict

Mixed Usage

The LG Immersive Suite 5 Pro is excellent for mixed usage. It can cover a lot of ground between its two satellites, bar, and sub, with a balanced sound across all channels. The discrete subwoofer can serve up both rumble and punch, depending on the content you're playing, without becoming overbearing. The balanced mid-range and detailed treble reproduction help delineate dialogue from its background, bolstered by a center channel that also features an up-firing driver. The wide range of sound adjustment features, including Dolby Atmos FlexConnect and Sound Follow (among many others), caters to both niche use cases and general sound tweaking. However, gamers won't be able to use the bar as a hub between a display and a console, due to the lack of a dedicated HDMI In.

Pros
  • Vast sound customization options.

  • Gets loud with minimal compression.

Cons
  • No HDMI In port.

Dialogue/TV Shows

The LG Immersive Suite 5 Pro is amazing for dialogue and TV shows. The balanced mid-range and discrete center channel offer top-tier dialogue clarity, aided by an additional central height driver that improves localization of voices. Quick-fire soap opera dialogue is well-tracked across the sound field, and there's no compression even as you approach max volume. You can take advantage of the Clear Voice Pro+ speech enhancement mode to further accentuate dialogue, or dial in a custom preset via the 8-band graphic EQ.

Pros
  • Vast sound customization options.

  • Gets loud with minimal compression.

Cons
  • No DTS support.

Music

The LG Immersive Suite 5 Pro is amazing for music. The discrete subwoofer has plenty of range, reproducing both 808s and walking upright basslines in a controlled way. There's plenty of mid-range nuance too, ensuring vocals sound natural, while the balanced treble range renders cymbals with the right amount of brilliance. This system gets very loud, with hardly any compression as you turn the volume up, and there's a wealth of sound adjustment options available for tweaking the tuning. While the soundstage is quite wide, it doesn't extend too far beyond the edges of the bar before upmixing stereo audio to the satellites, which can cause stereo recordings to sound a little different from how the mix engineer intended.

Pros
  • Vast sound customization options.

  • Gets loud with minimal compression.

  • Lots of height with Atmos content.

Cons
  • No HDMI In port.

Movies

The LG Immersive Suite 5 Pro is great for movies. While it's not compatible with DTS family formats, it supports Dolby Digital and Dolby Atmos, with a host of sound features, like Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, designed to improve and personalize your movie-watching experience. The controlled subwoofer output can pivot from rumbly explosions to acid basslines while maintaining the overall balance well. The detailed mid-range and treble range ensure dialogue and ambient sound effects don't get lost in the mix either. While the performance with Atmos content isn't quite as immersive as with four satellite speakers, this dual-speaker configuration does allow for more elevation than the expanded setup, so ascending drones seem to rise a few feet above the bar. Surround sound content has ample width to it, too, and the bar can get more than loud enough for a home movie night when the neighbors are out of town.

Pros
  • Vast sound customization options.

  • Gets loud with minimal compression.

  • Lots of height with Atmos content.

Cons
  • No DTS support.

    Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The LG Immersive Suite 5 Pro is one configuration of the LG Sound Suite lineup: it uses an LG Sound Suite H7 bar with two M5 satellite speakers and a W7 wireless sub. It comes in one color variant, 'Black,' and we took photos of the label for the bar, the sub, and the satellites.

If you encounter another variant of this soundbar, please let us know in the comments, and we'll update our review.

    Popular Soundbar Comparisons

Given that the LG Immersive Suite 5 Pro is one permutation of many within the LG Sound Suite lineup, it will inevitably invite comparisons with other configurations that use different components. The twin M5 speakers aren't able to match up to the four M7 speakers that come with the LG Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro. This is most noticeable with the soundstage and surrounds performance, and the quad setup even sounds more immersive with Atmos. That said, the Immersive Suite 5 Pro injects a bit more height into Atmos content, so it's great if you're looking for a dedicated movie-focused setup and are fine with losing some nuance with music playback compared to the Quad Suite. For a more minimalist setup, the standalone LG Sound Suite H7 outputs a surprisingly balanced sound, though it sacrifices subwoofer oomph and relies on virtualizing surround sound content.

Outside of the LG ecosystem, the Sonos Ultimate Immersive Set with Arc Ultra also features a 7.1.4 driver configuration with a very similar performance. Both have very balanced default frequency responses and high max volumes but trade blows in other areas: the LG has a better center channel and more comprehensive sound enhancement options, while the Sonos boasts a wider soundstage and low latency over an eARC connection. A big part of the decision-making process will be figuring out which product ecosystem you want to buy into, given that both systems are highly modular in nature.

    Samsung HW-Q990H

    Track

The Samsung HW-Q990H and the LG Immersive Suite 5 Pro are both top-tier soundbar systems that cater to slightly different tastes. The Samsung covers more bases with its feature set and format support: there's support for 4k @ 120Hz HDMI passthrough via the full HDMI In port, DTS format compatibility, as well as an optical port. Both bars are extremely well-matched when it comes to our sound tests, with well-balanced frequency responses, great center channel performance, and wide soundstages. The LG does have a more even response with 5.1 content, though. Both systems also feature a host of different positionally adaptive features, too, from room correction to sound field orientation. Ultimately, a big factor will be which product ecosystem you want to buy into, especially since the LG can be expanded with additional LG Sound Suite speakers down the line.

LG Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro

    Track

The LG Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro is the expanded version of the LG Immersive Suite 5 Pro, boasting four M7 speakers instead of the twin M5 satellites that come with Immersive Suite 5 Pro. The two setups perform very similarly in most of our sound tests, with similarly balanced frequency responses, excellent dynamics, and strong center channels. Both configurations also let you take advantage of positionally adaptive features like Dolby Atmos FlexConnect and Sound Follow, as well as AI Room Calibration. However, the Quad Suite 7's four satellites can create a more immersive sound with 5.1 and Atmos content, and the stereo soundstage stretches a lot wider. The Immersive Suite 5 Pro creates more of a sense of elevation with Atmos content, though. If you're still undecided, you can always opt for the cheaper two-satellite configuration and upgrade with additional speakers down the line.

    LG S95AR

    Track

The LG Immersive Suite 5 Pro serves a similar flagship role to the LG S95AR. Both bars offer flagship features and performance, with two satellites and a discrete sub supplementing a soundbar. The two perform very similarly when it comes to sound, with balanced default frequency responses, wide soundstages, and strong performance with 5.1 and Atmos content. Going with the Immersive Suite gives you access to new flagship features, like Dolby Atmos FlexConnect and Sound Follow, which are geared towards compensating for the speakers' placement and your seating position. If these features don't seem useful to you, the S95AR offers 4k @ 120Hz HDMI passthrough, as well as DTS format support, which are big assets if you like to use your bar as a hub between a console and display, or you watch a lot of Blu-rays.

Sonos Ultimate Immersive Set with Arc Ultra

    Track

The LG Immersive Suite 5 Pro and the Sonos Ultimate Immersive Set with Arc Ultra share more than just similar naming conventions. Both setups feature a bar, sub, and two discrete satellites for a 7.1.4 configuration. In practice, their performances are very similar: both have very balanced default frequency responses and high max volumes. However, there are trade-offs in other areas, as the LG has a better center channel and more comprehensive sound enhancement options, while the Sonos boasts a wider soundstage and low latency over an eARC connection. Given the highly modular nature of each of these setups, you'll still want to consider which ecosystem you'd prefer to buy into, especially if you want to expand with more satellites down the line. For those with wider seating arrangements, the LG's positionally adaptive features (Sound Follow and DAFC) could enhance the system's appeal, too.
