Sony A80L/A80CL OLED
Samsung S90D OLED
The Samsung S90D OLED is better than the Sony A80L/A80CL OLED. The Samsung is significantly brighter in HDR, especially in Game Mode, delivering a more impactful HDR experience. It's also a bit brighter in SDR, with better reflection handling, giving it the edge in brighter rooms. It's also better for gaming due to its four 4k @ 144Hz HDMI ports, while the Sony is limited to two 4k @ 120Hz ports, one of which doubles as the eARC port. The Sony model does have better image processing than the Samsung, so it cleans up low-resolution and low-bitrate content better.

Which one did you end up keeping and what where the reasons for choosing that one?
I have just bought one of each to see which I like better. The Sony (I’ve always had Sony) looks good, but it’s dark - it feels darker than my Sony X950H. So I’m wondering how that will fare against the brightness of the S90D when it arrives. That’s my biggest concern, as I watch a lot of movies and want bright colours. The Sony “feels” like the colours are muted… and that’s using Standard Picture mode, Max brightness. I’m looking forward to comparing it to the Samsung and will decide which to return after I receive it tomorrow.
