Version 1.0 of our mattress testing methodology is designed to answer many of the questions potential consumers might have when shopping for a mattress, from overall performance to material quality. We investigated how the materials, density, and construction of the layers in a mattress contribute to the cooling, edge support, motion dissipation, and responsiveness of the mattress overall. Beyond these attributes, we've also considered subjective traits, such as firmness, bounciness, sinking, and contouring.
However, our testing had some limitations. As we couldn't test multiple sizes of each mattress, we chose to test the Queen-sized variant in each case since this size is typically the most popular among consumers. As a result, our test results are only valid for the Queen-sized variant of each mattress, and other sizes can be expected to perform differently.
This is the first iteration of our test bench, and, as always, we aim to continue finding ways to expand and improve our testing.
